Who Brought Him into the Cultivation World?

Chapter 60: Laifu! Laifu! Come Carry Me Quickly

A golden magical light flew across the mountain stream, sped through the valley, and swiftly passed over the vast State City, arriving instantly at a cliff.

Calling it a cliff seemed inaccurate.

From a bird's eye view, it looked more like a mountain had been forcibly split in two, with cliffside pavilions and towers intricately designed, as if suspended in the sky.

The light maintained its speed, heading straight for the right-side pavilion, where various peculiar structures stood below, surrounded by groups of people assembling a small boat about ten meters long.

In the largest courtyard of the right-side pavilion, Cousin's hair looked like a bird's nest on his head; his clothes were musty, his eyes, once vibrant, now seemed vacant, with more sunken eye sockets, and his complexion was sallow and dull.

He appeared utterly exhausted.

Apart from a doctor at his side, there was no one else left around him; initially, when Su Wanjun brought him back, there were many clan brothers assigned to watch over him, but unfortunately, a commoner's joke taken seriously by him changed things.

A device that allows communication from thousands of miles away — this suggestion instantly revitalized him, who had been despondent due to being forced to return home.

Common folk thought it was a joke, but Cousin saw it otherwise. Anything unverified represented potential to him.

So when Cousin returned home, he immediately dove into his little world and began to let his imagination run wild.

He tried various rare treasures and bizarre materials, but without exception, all failed.

Later, he began experimenting with various strange living creatures, but they too, all ended in failure.

Just as Cousin was about to give up, he accidentally remembered the Mandarin Duck Gu his family had cultivated, which was a gift obtained from designing the tomb of a high-ranking Miaojiang Gu Sect elder by his ancestors.

The Mandarin Duck Gu is one of the very few symbiotic Gu Kings among Gu Insects. Normally, to obtain a Gu King, you must let a group of Gu insects fight to the death until only one remains. The Mandarin Duck Gu, however, left behind a pair.

Moreover, the Mandarin Duck Gu's characteristic is strange as well. Once ingested by a pair, whenever one misses the other, the other will immediately sense it.

The only drawback is, if either side betrays the other, the Gu insect will instantly explode and poison the betrayer to death.

The sensing ability of the Mandarin Duck Gu inspired Cousin, prompting him to start ingesting various Gu insects. Since it was the Mandarin Duck Gu, he couldn't try it alone, so the clan brothers watching over him had to ingest a Gu as well.

Over time, no one could endure it anymore. There were indeed risks, and on many occasions, both Cousin and the clan brothers were poisoned and collapsed.

All the clan brothers had fled, leaving only the family's best doctor constantly on guard to prevent Cousin from playing himself to death.

Today was a significant breakthrough day for Cousin; whether it would succeed or not would be revealed today.

He refined the Mandarin Duck Gu into a Token, then refined the Developing Dust, and finally, by engraving an Array, he indeed achieved communication where writing on one Token was visible on the other.

Yet, this was far from meeting his expectations. Just two people communicating lacked excitement, so he decided to violate moral boundaries, by attempting to re-cultivate the monogamous Mandarin Duck Gu and give that male Gu insect a bunch of wives, in hopes they could be a happy family.

Whether the Mandarin Duck Gu could be polygamous would be seen today.

But before he got results, a magical light burst in and finally landed in front of him.

It was a pitch-black Iron Bird, sparrow-sized, a contraption he made during a flash of inspiration, which he had named the Flying Messenger Bird.

Each Flying Messenger Bird, when released, would fly back to his courtyard no matter where it was, as long as the Spirit Stone's energy was sufficient, it could basically return.

But why was there a Flying Messenger Bird? He seemed never to have sent this thing outside!

"Seventh Uncle stole my things again."

He quickly figured it out, realizing that the entire Mo Family, it seemed, only his Seventh Uncle showed interest in his creations.

He picked up the Flying Messenger Bird, opened its belly's mechanism familiarly, and soon a note was revealed. Upon reading it, his expression changed dramatically…

"This is bad!"

Little Artifact Spirit was still muttering.

Han Yu's mind buzzed, so he said, "If it's really not possible, I'll force it down your throat."

Little Artifact Spirit instantly refused, "I'm different from Ping's Pills, it doesn't matter who takes his, but mine requires not only the right person but their willingness."

Damn it, knew this guy would be overly picky with lots of crap.

It was indeed quite tricky. Likely, the spirit of the Qilin, like the Artifact Spirit, would have its own consciousness, making it unlikely to willingly deplete itself for Young Master Lin.

"Why don't you go and persistently nag at him, even kneel and beg him to swallow one."

Little Artifact Spirit suddenly suggested.

Han Yu's face turned dark immediately, but before he could act, Artifact Spirit spoke again in a faint voice, "The portion that feeds back to you can expand your Sea of Consciousness energy!"

This... it seemed nagging wasn't out of the question.

That scant Sea of Consciousness energy had long caused him enough suffering, breaking down at every critical moment.

So he hopefully asked, "Approximately how much energy?"

Little Artifact Spirit seemed to be calculating too, and after a moment, slowly said, "Hmm! Enough so that next time you encounter the Divine Gaze Realm, you could blast it half to pieces before escaping."

Little Glass sure knew how to bait a hook; regardless of whether Young Master Lin was hooked, Han Yu certainly was.
