Chapter 196: Demon Hunter

The view ahead was blurry, like a layer of fog had settled on glass.

Zhu Wenwu looked at the zombie wreathed in lightning in front of him and felt that the dagger on its head was becoming clearer, like a dagger and also like an arrow-shaped mark.

At the moment he stood up, the zombie surged with lightning again and pounced at him with incredible speed.

The distance between them was very close, and it was merely a matter of an instant for them to make contact.

In that instant.

Zhu Wenwu saw the zombie's movements from a completely different angle, executing a diagonal slash with his hand at a speed that did not fall short of the opponent.

Zhu Wenwu was knocked to the ground by the zombie, electricity spreading across his body once again. Meanwhile, the steel sword in his hand pierced through the zombie's head, black blood spilling over his fingertips.

Su Changxing stood on the second floor, a hint of surprise in his eyes as he saw rings of white light appearing around Zhu Wenwu.

He has become an Extraordinary!

Su Changxing had thought that someone might become an Extraordinary during the Blood Moon, but he didn't expect it to be Zhu Wenwu.

Is this what they call innate talent?

This Extraordinary Zombie was not very intelligent and was easily seen through by Zhu Wenwu, who took it down with a single strike.

However, Zhu Wenwu's ability seemed a bit special, as his speed increased and his strength grew just as the zombie approached.

"Extraordinary?"

Zhu Wenwu lay on the ground, his body engulfed in the pain of electricity, staring blankly at the sky, and a colorful world appeared before his eyes.

It was as if he was seeing the real world for the first time.

Zhu Xin Xue quickly ran over to check on Zhu Wenwu's condition, asking worriedly, "Zhu Wenwu, are you okay?"

She noticed that although Zhu Wenwu had been pierced by electricity, his consciousness seemed to remain clear.

Zhu Wenwu's expression was calm as he said, "No problem, your brother is strong."

He sat up from the ground and saw Su Changxing standing in front of him with a faint smile on his face, saying:

"Not bad, I didn't expect you to be the first one to become an Extraordinary."

According to Su Changxing's previous thoughts, Huang Biao should have been the first to become an Extraordinary.

After all, Huang Biao had undergone six enhancements and was experienced in combat.

But unexpectedly, it was Zhu Wenwu, originally timid, who was the first, besides him, to become an Extraordinary in the base.

Zhu Wenwu's eyes shone brightly as he tried to adapt to this bizarre sensory world, saying:

"So this is being an Extraordinary? It seems a bit different from what I imagined."

Su Changxing pondered for a moment and said, "What is your position? You should check your phone, there should be a brief introduction on it."

Zhu Wenwu checked the character panel on his phone, a hint of surprise in his eyes as he said, "My position is Demon Hunter, Upper Rank."

He closed his eyes again, thought for a while, and said, "My ability should be that I can mark something in some way..."

Zhu Wenwu was very candid and unguarded towards Su Changxing, considering Su Changxing to be somewhat of a guide.

Demon Hunter, Upper Rank?

Zhu Wenwu is also in an Upper Rank position, does this mean that self-awakened individuals all have Upper Rank positions?

No, it can't be said like that, it's just a coincidence.

Su Changxing thought while doing a simple analysis of Zhu Wenwu's position, realizing that "True Knowledge" was blocked out during the Blood Moon, making it hard to glean much information.

The head, silent for a long time, suddenly said:

"I've heard of this position, its combat ability isn't very strong, but it has a rather perverse ability, able to mark a person or an object and track them across distances, making it a top 'Scout' among Extraordinaries."

It paused for a moment, adding, "However, this position seems to have significant side effects, and it's extremely hard to advance, making it a very extreme position; yet compared to its ability, it's negligible."

Hearing this, Su Changxing suddenly felt that the Demon Hunter position seemed similar to the Tier Nine position ability of that Hunter known as "Politician," both being very powerful.

Su Changxing looked at Zhu Wenwu, who had just stood up, and said, "For now, don't tell others about this to avoid unnecessary trouble... How are your injuries? I have some ointment here."

Zhu Wenwu's injuries seemed quite severe; if it were an ordinary person, they would have died from such electricity, but an Extraordinary's life force is strong.

Zhu Wenwu didn't stand on ceremony, he accepted the ointment from Su Changxing, and applied it to the skin on his chest, saying, "Thank you, Brother Su."

Zhu Xin Xue, on the other hand, was in a state of shock. Her brother had suddenly become an Extraordinary, and though she didn't know what happened, she was elated and said after coming to her senses:

"Master, do you think I can become an Extraordinary?"

Su Changxing looked her over carefully and said seriously, "You're quite far off."

This was also the truth; Zhu Xin Xue showed no signs of becoming an Extraordinary, and it seemed that becoming an Extraordinary required constant external pressure.

Since Zhu Xin Xue came to Huang Biao's group, she seemed to have been in a relatively safe environment.

But whether it was truly safe remained to be considered.

Zhu Wenwu frowned, also realizing the issue, and according to what Su Changxing said before, only an Extraordinary could assure survival.

Su Changxing looked towards the exit where zombies kept pouring in and were constantly getting killed, and asked, "Can you still perceive those Screamers?"

"Yes, I'll give it a try."

Zhu Wenwu closed his eyes and could see three Screamers at different places around the base. Then he opened his eyes and said:

"The previous ones seemed to have been killed, but three more have come, hovering around the base."

So.

The previous zombies should have been killed by Shen Xuan.

But where did Shen Xuan go?

Su Changxing frowned, unable to figure out what matter made Shen Xuan leave at such a time, yet there was surely a reason.

Or perhaps she has another identity?

Within the three, Shen Xuan held a certain amount of leadership, and her power was the strongest.

Seeing Shen Xuan for the first time gave him a sense of encountering a kindred spirit, people with deep thoughts inside but who do not show it.

Thinking of it this way, in the real world, Shen Jinxuan must have a dual identity, ostensibly a peripheral young reporter, but in reality...

Su Changxing already had several guesses, estimating that Shen Jinxuan might be related to some Superpower Organization, perhaps the Security Bureau, Chenxi, or some other group.

Su Changxing paused for a moment and said, "Monitor those Screamers. If they make any movements, inform me immediately."

Without Jin's help, if he wanted to deal with the Screamers, it would only be feasible if they were in a dormant state.
