Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 115: Dandelion [5] - Image

Liora was, of course, not fooled by this appearance.

She had witnessed the power of this blood firsthand. Just a few pieces of information contained in it had led her to develop Tongue of the Abyss, an ability that was useful even in Lesser Devil battles.

But although she was aware of its power and remained cautious, that didn't mean that she was afraid.

Lowering her gaze, Liora stared intently at the mysterious droplet while her consciousness extended and probed into it.

Instantly, a burst of inexplicable and chaotic information emerged in her mind, seemingly out of nowhere.

Liora was neither stunned nor frightened by this, though. Rather, she was delighted, realizing that her earlier guess had been correct.

"Indeed.", she couldn't help but think:

"Just as I was expecting, the blood is also suppressed by the Will of this world. Moreover, perhaps because of its special status and its owners' high strength, the suppression it suffers is far more severe than mine.", she analyzed, her eyes sparkling with crimson brilliance.

For the first time since her descent, Liora felt thankful to the Will of this world.

She understood that without its unintentional assistance, it would have been impossible for her to conduct research on the blood without suffering the side effects.

While she was thinking this, Liora's actions didn't stop.

Confirming that the mysterious blood had become powerless to resist, she didn't rush to digest the information she had just received but reached into her clothes and took another drop of blood out.

This blood had a tinge of black running across its squirming surface, in the shape of a fierce wolf that was howling toward the sky.

Clearly, this was something that Liora had obtained from the Twilight Wolves, having kept it for exactly this occasion.

"Let's see...", Liora muttered as she brought the Twilight Wolf's blood closer to the chest.

Remembering the scene where the mysterious blood had pounced on the Blasphemer's remains and devoured them, she believed that it would now have a similar reaction.

Unfortunately, she was utterly mistaken.

Not only did the mysterious blood not rush to devour the thing that she was presenting, but Liora keenly noticed a faint sense of disgust emanating from it.

Even though she realized this, it didn't make her discouraged. To her, it didn't matter what the blood wanted.

If anything, the fact that it didn't want to swallow the Twilight Wolf's blood made her more satisfied.

Still, with a sudden movement of her right hand, she brought it closer to the wooden chest. Then, she shot it toward the mysterious blood with a quick flick of her fingers.

Perhaps because it sensed her resolve or perhaps because it was facing the suppression of this world and was powerless to resist, the mysterious blood allowed the "disgusting" thing to fall on top of it.

The next moment, the Twilight Wolf's blood began dissolving, soon disappearing and becoming a part of it.

At the same time, a pink glint flashed across the mysterious blood's surface, which was reflected in Liora's crimson eyes.

Instantly, her vision went blank, and her mind grew blurry, as the familiar feeling of being pulled into an illusion appeared.

But unlike before, Liora now had a hunch that she could snap out of it whenever she wished to.

But for now, she didn't. Instead, she did quite the opposite.

Relaxing the soul defense provided by the Myriad Devils Body, she allowed the blood to pull her into the dream.

--

Glancing at the illusory scene surrounding her, Liora couldn't help but feel a little strange.

Although she had experienced several illusions in the past, it was the first time that she had felt that she was in one so vividly.

This was not because the illusion had become stronger. If anything, it meant that it had become weaker, making the images look far less real.

"This should be the result of the world's suppression.", Liora judged as she lowered her head and observed her surroundings.

Just like the previous two times that the mysterious blood had brought her into an illusion, Liora was currently floating in the cloudy sky.

Beneath her, a vast forest covered in shadowy figures could be seen, a place that would make one feel a shiver run down their spine.

Though she was quite high in the sky, it was still impossible for Liora to make out where the forest ended, as if it stretched endlessly.

Liora could sense that there were several powerful auras spread throughout the forest, each different in strength from the other.

Yet, they all shared one thing in common.

All the auras exuded a bloodthirsty, hungry, and sinister feeling, as if their owners were mad Devils searching for their prey.

But she knew very well that they were not.

"The auras should all belong to the beasts of the Knight World.", she analyzed.

If it were in the past, Liora might not have realized this.

But, having observed the structure of Twilight Wolves before, she had now become familiar with the aura of beasts.

Thus, it wasn't too hard for her to recognize their aura.

While Liora was deep in thought, the images around her didn't stop. As if the "Play" button had been pressed, the world around her began to change.

The leaves of the trees rustled while the chirping of birds and sounds of battle could be heard, making the forest look lively.

Just then, though, everything around Liora froze.

It was not because the image was about to end, but because suddenly, an overwhelming aura arrived and pressed down toward the forest.

In the distance, not far away from Liora, a figure appeared and stood silently in the sky, accompanied by countless rays of pure white light.

Though the light made his appearance blurry and hid his true identity, it was fairly obvious from his outline that it was a young, human man.

The man glanced in her direction and paused for a brief moment before reaching out with his right hand.

Boundless light emerged from his body as his Life Force was transformed into holy power, turning into a giant hand that fell toward Liora.

"Lesser Devil! No! He is a Knight!", Liora's pupils shrank.
