Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 119: Dandelion [9] - Vigilance

Opening his mouth, Jack actually responded to Liora's words:

"How could a member of the Holy Sect refer to it as the Necronomicon Sect like you heretics?", he scoffed, and added:

"Moreover, the identity of every member of the Sect is kept a secret unless deemed necessary to disclose it. How could there really be a meeting of its members?"

Hearing his explanation, Liora couldn't help but click her tongue.

Originally, she believed that Jack had noticed that something was wrong with the Baron and had thus chosen to attack first.

After all, although more than a week had passed and Alpha's control over the puppet had improved significantly, it was impossible for her to make his actions truly perfect.

Yet, surprisingly, the thing that gave the trap away was not these subtle imperfections, but her own lack of information.

'It's worthy of being a Sect feared throughout the continent. Even a mere member is so vigilant.'

Though disappointed, Liora had expected such a thing to occur.

How could it be that easy to gather the information she wished for?

Thinking of this, she lightly shook her head with faint regret, before raising her head and casting a glance at Jack.

"You're quite observant, but you are unfortunately not very intelligent. Here is a piece of advice..."

"...In such situations, it's better to act like you haven't seen anything."

While she was halfway through her speech, Liora's figure dissolved into thick black mist.

The next moment, she dashed before him and stretched her arm out, clenching her hand into a tight fist and punching forward.

Although Jack had expected that the target might attack him, the ability that Liora displayed went beyond the common sense of the Knight World.

As such, he had little time to react.

In a hurry, he could only raise the bloody dagger and swing it at her abdomen.

He understood that the only way to defend against this unexpected blow was to take the initiative.

As long as the target was reluctant to exchange injuries with him, his safety would be guaranteed.

Unfortunately, Liora was not an ordinary Knight.

She didn't attempt to evade, nor did she try to defend.

Instead, she continued punching him, as if she had not detected his attack.

Black-hued Life Force emerged from her body. Half of it gathered on her abdomen, and the other half poured into her right arm.

The next moment, the two people clashed.

However, the results of their collision were shocking.

The moment the dagger struck across Liora's abdomen, a large number of sparks were produced. Yet, it failed to penetrate her skin, much less cause significant harm.

On the other hand, her unpretentious punch hit Jack's torso, causing a mouthful of blood to pour out of his mouth. At the same time, he was sent flying across the room.

Liora didn't halt her actions.

Taking advantage of his momentary inability to resist, she teleported beside him once again.

Raising her arm, she struck Jack's unprotected stomach with her elbow, while she swiped her right leg and kicked him in the knee.

A low, almost inaudible cry escaped Jack's mouth, which was obscured by the dark hood.

The excruciating pain and unbearable injuries made him unable to resist, resulting in him becoming a punching bag in Liora's hands.

In just a few moments, Liora had attacked him several times, crushing hundreds of his bones with her bare hands.

Although Jack was a True Knight and his recovery capabilities were abnormal, he was still a human. Therefore, he found it hard to maintain his footing.

After another one of Liora's punches hit his shoulder, he crumpled to the ground, breathless.

His vision grew blurry, and his eyes were filled with confusion as he tried his best to remain conscious.

Jack knew very well what fate would await him if he were to fall into the opponent's hands—an opponent who was so clearly targeting the Holy Sect.

It would be acceptable if he just endured endless torture. But if some information was leaked, the Holy Sect would suffer, and the plan to change the world would also be affected.

Thinking of this, Jack's eyes flashed with a ruthless glint.

Under Liora's dumbfounded expression, he urged his Life Force and used it as a weapon to attack his own muscles and tendons.

Instantly, blood began trickling out of every single one of his pores, while his aura fluctuated violently, soon becoming extremely weak, as if he had turned into a mortal.

But Jack neither minded the pain nor the loss of his strength.

Raising his head, he glanced at Liora for one final time before shaking his head.

"It seems that I will not be able to experience 'that'...", he muttered, his tone filled with regret and sorrow.

These were the final words that Jack would ever say.

Shortly after they left his mouth, his vitality passed away, as if devoured by a hidden being, and his aura disappeared, once and for all.

Looking at this scene and the familiar way of dying, Liora's expression darkened.

"What's up with all these lunatics? Why are they so committed to dying every single fucking time?", she cursed.

Infuriated, she couldn't help but kick Jack's corpse, sending it flying across the room.

As if this was not enough to calm her down, she smashed his remains a couple more times.

It was only after doing this, when her fists were dyed red by the blood of her enemies, that Liora seemed to finally calm down.

"Trash!", she spat, and, feeling that her efforts were worthless, she was about to leave the building.

But just then, she seemed to recall something.

Leaning down, she grabbed Jack's lifeless corpse and placed it on her shoulder before turning around.

"Perhaps I'll be able to uncover some clues through him...", her cold voice echoed in the messy building, only vanishing when she shut the door behind her.

A few minutes after Liora's departure, a soft, barely discernible movement occurred in the originally silent room.
