Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 137: Dandelion [27] - Nature

It didn't take long for the being sleeping within the statue to awaken from its deep slumber.

Under Liora's gaze, an invisible—to Edric and the robed woman—white mist flew out of the stone statue and assembled in the air.

It shook for a brief moment before it began to sketch a human figure.

First the head, then the torso, the arms, and the legs.

Before long, the body of a middle-aged man had thoroughly materialized, presenting itself before everyone in the room.

His eyelids twitched as his eyes slowly opened, and they wandered through the room, becoming deep.

Just when he was about to observe his surroundings and grasp the current situation, though, the kneeling Edric suddenly spoke up.

His eyes sparkled with a frenzied light as he looked at the middle-aged man, and he opened his mouth to speak:

"Lord! Please aid in dealing with these damn invaders! They are attacking our Holy Sect!", Edric howled as he turned around and pointed at Liora and the robed woman.

Though he couldn't understand how these two had managed to go through his father and get to this place, it was obvious to him that they were both enemies.

As for the fact that his father might have died? Edric didn't consider this at all.

How could his omnipotent and resourceful father possibly die at the hands of these weak women?

Listening to his words, the eyes of the middle-aged man narrowed.

Sensing the friendly aura originating from Edric's body, coupled with the battle traces he detected in the air, he quickly confirmed that this person's words were true.

Hence, he shifted his gaze to Liora and the robed woman, his body tensing and ready to strike at them.

His actions caught the two women's attention.

In particular, the robed woman—knowing the horror of the being before her—showed an intense reaction.

The golden scepter in her hand glowed as she lifted it in the air, her Life Force pouring into it desperately.

At the same time, she peeked at Liora from the corner of her eye and spoke:

"Work together with me to hold him off. We should be able to get out of this place alive as long as we persist for a few minutes.", she stated.

But when she saw Liora's total lack of response, she feared that she did not understand her meaning.

Thus, she rushed to explain:

"Do you see that man? He is the hidden being revered by the Necronomicon Sect. He is also an invader coming from the lands outside our world."

"Although this is just a mere projection of his, it's not something that mortals like us can possibly deal with."

"We can only survive if we work together!"

The robed woman's words fell into Liora's ears, but she didn't reply, nor did she show any change in her expression.

Her full attention was on the middle-aged man, as she carefully sized him up.

'Although this one and the clone I met at Baron Bloodshield's manor are both clones of the same individual, the gap between them is enormous.'

'Maybe it's because this is a more populated place, so the Devil receives more faith. Or perhaps it's because the Space Orb didn't devour any of his faith. Most likely, though, it's both.', Liora analyzed.

She could perceive that the nameless Devil's strength had now transcended the Great Knight rank, indicating that he was able to exert a larger portion of his true strength.

Being a True Devil, the middle-aged man was not like Marquis Lavender. He was able to exert one hundred percent of his might.

With his rich combat experience and the countless means in his arsenal, he could easily defeat most Lesser Devils.

Therefore, Liora scoffed at the robed woman's naive idea of the two teaming up to deal with him.

Even if she were to put aside the fact that the woman had tried to trick her earlier, Liora would never cooperate with her just based on the odds of the two winning.

'Fortunately, it seems that my previous guess is true and the Devil's clones do not share the same memories. Otherwise, he would have recognized me.', Liora realized, noticing that the unknown Devil's eyes did not stay at her for long.

With that in mind, and glancing at the crimson item resting behind the statue, she made a quick decision.

While the unknown Devil was preparing to unleash his attack—targeting both her and the robed woman—she consciously suppressed her Shroud Form for a brief moment.

That moment didn't last for long—not even enough to allow her to regain her Devil characteristics—but it still displayed a trace of her Devilish nature.

After doing this, Liora didn't try to defend but instead dashed forward.

Her figure flashed beside the statue, and she calmly waved her hand.

Under her command, a spike of darkness grew beneath Edric and, rising up, nailed him to death.

Then, she continued as if nothing had happened, extending her hand and collecting the item that had been summoning her all this time.

Having accomplished her goal, she didn't even cast a glance at the robed woman or the unknown Devil. Instead, she bolted out of the room.

Throughout this whole process, neither the Devil nor the woman stepped forward to stop her.

The robed woman didn't because she was stunned by Liora's sudden and bold actions, while the unknown Devil didn't because he noticed Liora's earlier outburst.

Thus, he recognized Liora's nature. Just like him, she was also a Devil who had descended to this world.

Although her strength seemed low at the moment, and it was obvious that she had not fully recovered, he also knew that every True Devil possessed countless trump cards.

If one were to underestimate such a being based on the power they displayed, they would soon end up dead.

Being only a clone rather than his true body, the middle-aged man was reluctant to conflict with another True Devil.

Still, this didn't mean that he would let what happened go.

Turning his head, he stared straight at the robed woman, and the faith making up his body convulsed.

Suddenly, pure faith burst forward and transformed into an ability, firing towards the woman and forcing her to defend.
