Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 157: King of Knights [13] - Encounter

Eleanor's actions were swift.

Once she had made her decision, she wouldn't hesitate.

By the very next morning, everything was already ready.

Everything that needed to be carried had already been packed, while a team of Knights had gathered outside the Black Tulip mansion and were waiting.

As her eyes swept across this team, Liora realized that everyone was a Knight Apprentice, with some even reaching the peak of this rank.

In fact, when she had investigated the mansion earlier, she had discovered that all the Knights of the Black Tulip family were gathered here.

None of them was going to stay behind and look after the mansion.

Clearly, Eleanor was ready to take every single person who could provide help to the border.

Not so much to fight against the beasts' attacks, but rather to protect her younger brother, the young Earl.

"Lady Liora. Everyone else is here. If you wish, we can get going."

Liora's arrival immediately attracted Eleanor's attention, who stepped forward, greeted her, and asked for advice.

In response, Liora calmly nodded her head, indicating that she was ready.

With Alpha following her, she entered the main carriage under Eleanor's instructions and took her seat.

Seeing this, Eleanor breathed a sigh of relief.

She didn't complain about Liora's sudden decision to follow them to the border. Instead, she was delighted.

With Liora, a person suspected of being a Great Knight, following them, the team's safety would be almost guaranteed.

With that in mind, Eleanor ordered the rest of the Knight Apprentices to get ready.

Less than half an hour later, the powerful horses possessing beast blood at the front began to run under the coachmen's command, pulling the carriages tied to them.

Before long, Liora and the rest of the team left the Black Tulip mansion behind them. With their departure, silence shrouded the mansion.

--

Liora was quite familiar with the road from the Black Tulip fiefdom to the Ancient Beast Wilderness.

In fact, she had walked this path twice during her earlier adventure, once to go to the stronghold of the Necronomicon Sect and once to come back.

With her strength, she didn't face any issues.

Whether it was the bandits, thieves, or anyone else with malicious intentions, they would meet their demise at her hands, not long after they displayed their malice.

However, this didn't mean that the northern part of the Iron Armor Empire was safe.

Especially now that the beasts had invaded and chaos had spread, many dangers lay within.

--

Liora didn't keep track of the time.

Thus, she didn't know how long their journey had lasted when the carriages suddenly stopped.

She was not surprised. Many overlapping voices had reached her ears not long ago.

Most of them were bloodthirsty and fierce, while the other one was low and looked like a person sobbing.

Feeling the carriage come to a stop, Liora exchanged a brief glance with Alpha, who was sitting on the side.

After an invisible conversation between them, the doors of the carriage swung open, and they both jumped out.

They were not the only ones.

In fact, they were the last ones to leave their carriages.

By the time that Liora stepped out, the team of Knight Apprentices had already gathered, with Eleanor standing at the front and looking towards the horizon with a solemn expression.

Seeing this, Liora approached her.

She followed Eleanor's gaze and looked at the spot that she was staring at.

There, a single black spot could be seen at the front, with dozens of spots chasing not far behind it.

Though their identity was unrecognizable due to the distance between them, it was clear that each of these dots represented a person, as they were the source of the screaming voices.

Sure enough.

Only a couple of minutes later, everyone's thoughts were proven to be true.

As the dots got closer, their true appearance was finally revealed.

The dot at the front was a middle-aged woman whose clothes were torn and messed up, while the dots chasing her were a team of armed men.

Wearing leather armor and holding half-broken weapons dripping with fresh blood, the team looked menacing as they brandished their weapons around.

At the same time, their voices were now perfectly clear.

"Hehehe! Where? Where are you going?"

"Why don't you stop and let my brothers and me have some fun with you? Perhaps if you satisfy us all, we can show some mercy and let you live!"

Loud laughter could be heard in between their words, truly displaying the demeanor that a low-level villain should possess.

Seeing this scene, Liora's expression remained unchanged. Such a sight would not cause many emotions in a Devil like her. She had seen worse.

But secretly, her gaze turned towards Eleanor, who was standing on the side.

Immediately, she noticed that Eleanor's hands were clenched into fists and her knuckles had turned white, while her body was shaking violently.

Her fury was apparent.

Before Liora could react, Eleanor had already dashed out, rushing towards the chasing bandits.

Her hand moved to her waist, and she unsheathed her sword, while her mouth opened and she spoke loudly.

"Stop right there! What do you think that you are doing?!", her voice spread, low yet deafening.

The moment her words fell into the ears of the bandits, their movements stopped for a brief second.

This time was short, but just enough for the running woman to run past Eleanor and approach the series of carriages.

Then, when she was finally surrounded by the Knight Apprentices, she collapsed to the ground.

Clearly, the chase between her and the bandits had been going on for some time, completely exhausting her stamina.

Now that she had arrived at a place that she subconsciously regarded as safe, she couldn't help but fall unconscious.

However, neither the bandits nor Eleanor had the time to pay heed to her.

The two parties were currently in a confrontation, with each side staring at the other with furious, menacing expressions.
