Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 188: Getting Rid of the World's Suppression

The fact that she could enhance her Base Stats through the consumption of Evolution Points—thus bypassing the suppression of the world—had been one of the first discoveries that Liora had made in this world.

Although she had mainly regained her power through Knight training since then, this ability was not to be underestimated.

In effect, it meant that it was only a matter of time before she regained her full strength, provided that she killed enough creatures and devoured their souls.

Now that she had reached the peak of the Young Devil stage, this ability had become even more valuable.

It allowed her to become a Lesser Devil again, removing the world's suppression that would have taken months, if not years, to remove otherwise.

"It's been a long time...", Liora whispered in a low voice before her mind finally moved.

Immediately, her Evolution Points began to deplete at a terrifying rate.

At the same time, though, each of her Base Stats broke through a certain limit.

This signaled that Liora would soon become a Lesser Devil once again.

But Liora had no time to pay attention to these things.

Unlike her previous transformations in this world, which had been silent and unassuming, the advancement to a Lesser Devil seemed completely different.

Liora felt her demonic energy boil as if it had become scorching lava.

It quickly coursed through her body, split apart, and rapidly reconstructed, improving in both quality and overall quantity.

Similarly, her physical body was also undergoing a transformation.

Each of the particles making up her body broke apart before advancing, quickly transcending its original concept.

Liora remained calm as she watched this happen.

She was not completely unfamiliar with such a process. Something similar had occurred during her original advancement in the Crucible, when she had received the Demon World's Blessing.

However, she didn't know why, but though it lacked the pain she experienced at the time, Liora had an illusion that the transformation she was going through this time was surprisingly more intense.

Mainly, regarding the improvement of her physical strength.

Liora tried to understand why that was. She combed through her memories and soon had an answer.

It was a seemingly unimportant detail that she had not paid much attention to and had almost forgotten by now.

When she had created the Myriad Devils Armor, she had specifically made it a growing ability to save Evolution Points.

Through devouring the blood and flesh of other beings, she could gradually strengthen it, as well as grant it some characteristics.

At the same time, its potential was initially locked. To enhance its potential further, she had to consume Evolution Points as a fuel.

This effect had also been added to its upgraded counterpart—Myriad Devils Body.

However, there had been a small change during the upgrade.

...

[Current Potential: Lesser Devil (You can further upgrade this ability by consuming Evolution Points or by experiencing more unique environments.)]

...

Its potential could now be unlocked by "experiencing more unique environments".

Liora had not seen any changes as a result of the second part so far, so she had almost forgotten it.

But now, during this transformation, she thought of it again.

She felt that this unassuming sentence should be the reason why her current transformation was so intense.

"Let's say that the potential of the Myriad Devils Body can now be increased through experiencing different environments and adapting to them. Then, it actually makes sense..."

"What can be more unique than an entirely different world? Though one could argue that the methods I used were unconventional and no one else could replicate them, it is a fact that I have completely adapted to the environment of the Knight World."

The changes in her physical body indeed confirmed her suspicions.

Liora sensed that her physical strength was increasing at an extraordinary speed, while her defenses also skyrocketed, as if turning from gold to steel.

It seemed as if the shackle locking her potential had been shattered, giving her free control over her own body.

Though intense, the changes ultimately didn't last for long.

Only a few minutes later, the transformation finally came to an end.

Despite this, the changes in Liora could not be understated.

Although she had not become a pool of blood like she had become in the Crucible, the changes brought by the transformation were not much different.

For the first time in a long time, Liora felt truly free.

In fact, she felt better than ever.

Not only had she become a Lesser Devil again, but she could sense that her strength was stronger than ever before.

Partly because of her practice of the Knight power system and partly because of the changes in the Myriad Devils Body.

Liora could sense that the unlocking of its potential had brought her great benefits, which were enough to make her combat power skyrocket.

She originally wanted to summon the System Panel and study these changes further. But she refrained from doing so in the end.

"The transformation caused more noise than I expected. I'm afraid my aura may have alarmed the beasts hidden within the Ancient Beast Wilderness."

"I should leave this place first. I can always return later.", Liora thought, and with a leap, she jumped off the rock and rose to her feet.

Then, she was about to leave the wilderness and return to Hope City.

But just when she was halfway through completing her journey, she sensed a powerful aura rapidly approaching her location.

Though her location was constantly shifting, the aura still came closer, as if it had been locked on her.

Clearly, her worries had turned out to be true. Her advancement had indeed alarmed someone, and they were coming to pay her a "visit".

Seeing this, Liora stopped running. She stood in place and prepared herself, waiting for the person chasing her to arrive.

Shortly after, they did.

A blurry humanoid silhouette emerged not far away from Liora, surrounded by flickering lights that concealed its appearance.

It didn't say anything at first, merely glancing at her as if it were sizing her up.
