Food Stall: Customers Chase Me across the Country

Chapter 151: Invincible Grilled Chili Peppers

"Awoo awoo..."

"Awoo awoo..."

"Holy cow! Mount Tai is nothing special, I climbed all the way up!"

"Stop bragging, if you're so tough, walk all the way down by yourself."

"...Sorry, I was speaking too loudly."

"Is that Boss Wang's shop over there?"

"That's right, Wang's Barbecue, and the long queue in front of the door, for sure it's Boss Wang's shop."

Huang Canglong suddenly had a bad feeling; it seemed they had forgotten something very important.

"Did any of you guys order food in the group chat last night or just now?"

"Didn't we go to bed early last night to save our energy? We forgot to order."

"While climbing the mountain just now, my brain was too fried to remember ordering."

"I didn't order either..."

Looking at the team of dozens lined up at the shop door, Huang Canglong and the others had expressions of constipation.

The desire to post on the group chat had vanished.

Oh well... time to queue up...

The five dejected individuals lost all their boldness from climbing Mount Tai, as they drooped miserably to the end of the line.

Just as they settled in, they saw someone heading straight towards them with a skewer of lamb.

The five, clueless, stared at Li Wei, approaching them with questions in their eyes.

Li Wei beamed at them: "Did you guys climb the mountain to get here?"

Huang Canglong nodded: "That's right, what's up?"

Li Wei handed the skewers over: "Starting today, anyone who climbs the mountain and queues at our shop gets 10 free lamb skewers. These just came off the grill, eat while they're hot."

After handing out 10 skewers each, he dashed back to the shop. He had to run; he was crucial to speeding up the skewers process, and without him, the pace slowed by a third.

Holding the skewers, Huang Canglong felt the envious stares from the people ahead in line, almost moved to tears.

10 lamb skewers may cost only 50 bucks, but it's not that he couldn't afford them; it's the overwhelming joy of having one's effort recognized by others!

Taking out their phones, the five posed with their 10 skewers each, grinning broadly and snapping a group photo, then, without hesitation, posting it to their group chat and microblog.

"Who would have thought climbing to the summit would earn us a reward from little Boss Wang? This feels even better than reaching the peak of Mount Tai!"

After posting the photo, they felt reluctant to eat the skewers, but the enticing aroma and growling stomachs made resistance futile.

The moment the meat hit his mouth, Huang Canglong found it a bit salty. They usually eat milder-flavored food back home, and this skewer's saltiness was clearly over the top.

Yet mysteriously, while his mouth found it salty, his hands and stomach disagreed.

His hand kept stuffing skewers into his mouth, and his stomach kept welcoming the chunks of meat.

Among the five, one guy with exaggerated muscles, a professional fitness trainer, immediately pinpointed the issue upon tasting.

"Boss Wang is truly something else; there's clearly extra salt in these."

The others looked at him, puzzled: "Why do you say that? I also think there's too much salt, yet it tastes so good."

Liu Zhao explained: "We just climbed the mountain, burning lots of energy while losing salt due to heavy sweating. Our bodies naturally crave salt replenishment to prevent electrolyte imbalance. We could drink some salty water or eat high-salt food for sodium addition. Boss Wang truly cares for us fans and thought of everything."

...

After two hours of queuing, the guys were utterly exhausted, but thankfully they had 10 skewers as a base; otherwise, they would've rushed to grab a snack somewhere else.

If the first bite after climbing Mount Tai wasn't from Boss Wang's kitchen, then this journey to Mount Tai would be incomplete!

"Hello, what would you like?"

Huang Canglong, a bit excited: "I'll have 20 lamb skewers, 2 oysters, and a serving of grilled leeks."

He's fairly lean, so this order was already his limit.

Liu Zhao was entirely different, starting off with 200 lamb skewers.

"200 lamb skewers, 20 oysters, two lamb kidneys, and one serving of each grilled vegetable left."

Wang Fan was taken aback: "Brother, your order makes me feel like you're challenging my portion size."

Liu Zhao laughably said: "No worries, Boss Wang, that's not what I meant. Honestly, I traveled from the Northeast following you; I missed out on those intestinal and steamed bun snacks earlier. Now that I've caught up with your culinary delights, I have to mark them all off my list. I saved my cheat meal for today; this might not even be enough for me."

Wang Fan doesn't mind. Even his own single serving wouldn't fit on the grill all at once.

Others maxed out filling a plate with their barbecue, while his grill piled it into a mountain.

One person's order occupied nearly half the table.

Liu Zhao didn't start by eating meat. Instead, he picked up a grilled pepper.

The peppers were the long, plump ones commonly found in Lu Dong, chopped into two halves skewered on bamboo sticks.

The vibrant green turned deep green after grilling, showing slightly charred marks, the skin wrinkled and split open, revealing tender green juicy flesh within, embellished by fiery red chili and white minced garlic, making the grilled peppers extremely enticing.

The unique charred aroma kept wafting into his nostrils, a scent more potent and richer than the pepper's own spicy fragrance, accented by a distinct smoky taste stimulating the taste buds involuntarily.

Licking his lips, Liu Zhao popped the grilled pepper into his mouth.

Once the pepper entered his mouth, the intense pepper flavor erupted like a fiery blaze, spreading swiftly through his mouth.

That unique aroma, with a subtle smoky hint, blended seamlessly with the spice, relentlessly teasing the taste buds, causing Liu Zhao to shiver impulsively.

With a bite, the pepper skin felt crispy; the gentle crunch was audible, followed by waves of spice rushing in forcefully, delivering an exhilarating taste bud sensation.

The spice wasn't monotonous; it intertwined with a unique charred aroma and included distinct flavors of small chili and garlic, enhancing the texture's richness and diversity.

As he chewed, the green pepper's refreshing juices slowly released, flowing within his mouth, interlacing with the various spicy notes, bonding into a complex flavor profile, unexpectedly featuring a hint of sweetness and freshness, escalating the craving with each bite.

"Holy smokes! Boss Wang's skills are undeniable. I wasn't wrong to chase you down; wow, just this one grilled pepper makes everything worthwhile!"

Liu Zhao praised loudly.

"Absolutely, I can't even describe the flavor of this grilled pepper, but it's incredibly tasty without comparison."

"Really? Let me try; I didn't dare order because of the spice earlier."

"Buzz off! Who are you? Didn't you hear me say it's delicious to the point of having no friends? Do I know you?"

"Screw you! Just one skewer, you have 10!"

"No way, even 100 skewers are mine alone. Too delicious, no sharing, hahaha! Not even swapping for lamb kidney, crunch crunch..."

"Indeed, pursuing Boss Wang's gourmet journey is utterly rewarding and worthwhile; this trip was worth it!"
