Food Stall: Customers Chase Me across the Country

Chapter 153: Starting with a Picture Recreating a Dish

Zhuo Qianqian's phone case was shaped like a small pink dog but had two long rabbit ears. It looked very incongruous, yet strangely cute.

Opening the picture to take a look, he found that it was really just a picture, without any recipe or instructions. Wang Fan looked at her speechlessly: "All you have is the picture? No recipe?"

Zhuo Qianqian shook her head: "It was shared by a bad friend of mine. She only sent me a picture and didn't tell me where to eat it or how to make it. She just said it was delicious, sweet and sour."

Wang Fan shook his head helplessly and enlarged the picture to examine it closely.

The curly stuff there should be shrimp meat, the white stuff seemed to be lychee, and the overall color looked a bit like an orange. So the main ingredients are orange, lychee, and shrimp?

Zhuo Qianqian said awkwardly: "Boss, if it's too much trouble to make, just forget it?"

Wang Fan, without looking up from the picture, said: "Forget it? How can that be? My good employee was bullied by a bad friend; I must get even! Wait here, I'm going to order the stuff now."

Saying this, he didn't bother with the System Mall, directly taking out his phone and dialing Zhang Ming. As soon as it connected, he said: "Zhang, give me 5 pounds of lychees, 5 pounds of oranges, and 5 pounds of fresh shrimp, plus some mint. Make it an emergency order for me."

Zhang Ming had just finished his lunch break and was chatting with colleagues while snacking. Hearing the voice on the phone, he was taken aback; "Urgent orders cost an extra 200 bucks... Even if you don't expedite it, I'll deliver it as soon as possible."

Wang Fan was his big client lately, someone he definitely wanted to maintain well.

Wang Fan replied into the phone: "Hmm, then I'll add 500 bucks, make it super urgent, thanks." After saying that, he hung up the phone.

"You go wash up too, you little rascal. I'll think about how to make this dish first."

After saying this to Zhuo Qianqian, Wang Fan closed his eyes and sat down on a chair.

Zhuo Qianqian put away her phone, stuck her tongue out, and went out to wash up.

Wang Fan liked money but was never miserly. He may not have learned much else from his uncle, but he learned to stand up for his own. You dare to taunt my employee? I'll replicate it better than you to taunt you back. We're the only ones who do the bullying!

Upon hearing Wang Fan's words, Zhang Ming threw his snack into the trash can with a "snap" and swiftly ran to the warehouse.

His colleague asked in confusion: "What's the rush? Is your wife having a baby?"

Zhang Ming ran without looking back: "A big client placed an order, can't afford to waste time."

The items Wang Fan wanted were common enough, as Lu Dong is a major fruit-producing province, consistently ranking in the top three nationwide. Only Guangxi could claim to surpass them, and unfazed by comparisons, they stood proud.

Lychees, fresh oranges, and fresh shrimp were quickly gathered. After loading them into a car, they sped off.

Meanwhile, Wang Fan was brainstorming, closing his eyes. He had no real concept of a Chef Level 30, but he felt confident he could stir up a dish.

Studying the picture's details, he thought the shrimp seemed to be deep-fried and split down the back.

The lychees looked small, likely shrinking during cooking, and were probably pitted.

The fresh orange seemed to provide its juice for color, as there were no slices visible in the picture.

After contemplating a bit with closed eyes, Wang Fan mentally pieced together the dish's preparation steps and ingredients, waiting for the materials to put things into action.

When the two boys returned, they were in better spirits, and Wang Fan first grilled some skewers for them. Zhuo Qianqian, however, didn't eat the beloved skewers; she just wanted to wait for the boss to make that dish.

About thirty minutes later, Zhang Ming showed up at the shop door with three big bags.

After Zhang Ming left, Wang Fan closed the shop door again, opened the bags, and told Zhuo Qianqian: "You take a break too; I'll call you when it's ready."

Zhuo Qianqian shook her head vigorously, her big, sparkling eyes fixated on the lychees: "No way, no way, I won't rest until I eat this dish!"

This little food lover!

Wang Fan sighed: "Then help peel the lychees and remove the seeds."

Zhuo Qianqian cheered: "This is my specialty!"

Five minutes later.

Seeing only two lychee flesh pieces in the bowl, Wang Fan praised Zhuo Qianqian: "You're indeed skilled; in five minutes, none went into the bowl, even the ones I put in are down to two…"

"Uh... it's just that I haven't had them in so long, I couldn't help it…"

Zhuo Qianqian stuck out her tongue embarrassedly and began peeling lychees honestly and putting them into the bowl.

Wang Fan's electric grill had both frying and deep-frying accessories, making it incredibly versatile. He put the frying pot on the grill, poured in oil, and started preparing the lively shrimp.

Using an upgraded kitchen knife, Wang Fan felt like it moved as if part of his arm. Without much visible action, a large shrimp swiftly turned into a pristine shrimp meat.

Zhuo Qianqian said her partner and she stood speechless, noticing how the shrimp was split, peeled, and deveined even faster than she could peel a lychee!

In under a minute, Wang Fan had already peeled more than 20 shrimp.

"This dish must highlight the fresh aroma of fruits, so the shrimp must be marinated to remove the sea smell."

Thinking about it, Wang Fan's hands moved, quickly mixing scallions, ginger, garlic, and yellow wine with the shrimp meat.

"The shrimp in the picture is heavily coated, they must have used crispy batter to fry it, making the texture even more tender."

"Heat the oil to 50% and fry it."

"Stir-fry lychees, add the fried shrimp, thicken with orange juice, and serve!"

Wang Fan quickly lifted the pot, flipped it, and all the food poured into the plate.

He took out two cleaned mint leaves to garnish it. The dish was officially complete.

Zhuo Qianqian was a little dumbfounded. She felt like she had just been peeling lychees for a moment, yet in the blink of an eye, the boss had finished a whole plate of the dish?

"Boss, you're so fast!"

Zhuo Qianqian sincerely admired it.

Wang Fan rolled his eyes, taking it as a compliment: "See if it's the right dish?"

"Oh? Oh, oh!"

Realizing it, Zhuo Qianqian quickly took out her phone to compare Wang Fan's dish with the picture.

In color, the boss's dish looked vibrant and glossy, while the picture's dish appeared dull. Boss wins.

In ingredients, the boss's plate had shrimp as shrimp, lychee as lychee, side by side yet not sticking together, while some spots in the picture clumped. Boss wins.

In aroma, the boss's had the fresh sweetness of shrimp, the lychee's sweet scent, and the orange's tangy fragrance, while a picture had no scent. Boss wins again.

Conclusion, the boss wins big!

"Wow, wow, wow! Boss, your dish is 10086 times better than the picture!"

Zhuo Qianqian said excitedly.

Wang Fan snorted lightly: "Take a picture and taste it, then send it to your bad friend. No one can bully my employees when it comes to food."
