Food Stall: Customers Chase Me across the Country

Chapter 191: Oh No This Chili Packs a Punch!

"Hey buddy, crossing the line?"

"Same to you."

Both withdrew their chopsticks simultaneously, but the meat went along with them; after all, letting go here would mean losing out, wouldn't it?

The chicken entered their mouths, first bringing a refreshing chili flavor, mixed with a hint of sauce and a bit of acidity.

Xu Yan carefully savored this spicy sensation, quite different from their local Yunnan flavor.

To call it spicy, actually, it's alright.

In terms of spiciness, it can't compete with their local Sichuan peppers, but the aroma is something Yunnan peppers can't match.

Whether it's Boss Wang's skill or the nature of the peppers, who knows?

As they bit down, they could clearly feel the incredible elasticity of the chicken, yet, surprisingly, it came right off the bone.

The chicken they bit off was still very chewy and the more they chewed, the tastier it got.

It was definitely delicious, but with just this bit of spice, how could it be called extra spicy?

Maybe it's aimed at Guangfu people?

After swallowing the chicken, Xu Yan looked at Chen Shuo, "You suggested a challenge with this level of spice, your skills aren't all that impressive."

Chen Shuo chuckled, "Why rush? There's over two pounds of chicken here, plus the peppers are edible and really fragrant."

Xu Yan picked up a piece of chili and put it into his mouth. The skin wasn't very thick, and since it was added late, he could clearly taste the flavor of raw chili with one bite.

The juices weren't abundant, but the chili itself was very refreshing, even more flavorful than the chicken; indeed, it was very fragrant.

Xu Yan nodded, definitely delicious, but he suddenly turned to Wang Fan, "Boss, your chicken is really tasty, but I suggest you change the spiciness to mild."

Wang Fan smiled slightly, "Fine, if you can finish this plate without drinking water, I'll change it to mild."

Xu Yan laughed heartily, "Then it's definitely getting changed."

Wang Fan shrugged indifferently and continued frying, as he saw guests headed their way.

Xu Yan saw the cut pancake beside him, took a piece and bit into it, feeling it was soft yet slightly crispy, very tasty, and couldn't help but take a big bite.

Feeling something was missing, he dipped the pancake into the little remaining juice on the plate.

The pancake, filled with rich wheat aroma, presented a tempting golden color with a slightly crispy surface and a soft, sweet interior. The chili chicken's red, glossy sauce exuded a strong spicy fragrance. As the pancake gently soaked up the sauce, it rapidly permeated every crevice.

Taking the sauce-soaked pancake, Xu Yan took a big bite, blending rich wheat aroma with a refreshing, slightly sour spiciness in his mouth, not just a taste sensation, but a perfect culinary combination, making it feel like the pancake was meant to be eaten this way.

Another piece of chicken followed, adding another layer to the unique taste.

"Wow, this pancake is really good!"

Xu Yan's simple praise made Zhuo Qianqian at the counter suddenly very pleased.

This pancake was entirely her handiwork—Boss Wang hadn't helped at all!

Zhuo Qianqian smugly raised her eyebrows at Wang Fan, who gave her a thumbs-up.

When it comes to tasty food, guys typically eat quickly; the chicken on Xu Yan and Chen Shuo's plates was steadily decreasing, while the pile of chicken bones on the tray grew larger.

At this point, Xu Yan realized the severity of the situation—the chili has a delayed kick!

He knew liquor had a delayed effect, but chili having one was a first for him.

This chili initially doesn't taste spicy, yet it accumulates, the more you eat, the spicier it gathers in your mouth. He now felt his lips weren't his own anymore.

Looking up at Chen Shuo, he saw the Sichuan Province guy breathing heavily, clearly affected by the spice.

Xu Yan immediately mocked, "Haha, you can't handle it? You should surrender; this spice is nothing to me!"

Chen Shuo breathed deeply and glanced at Xu Yan, disdainfully saying, "You actually said 'nothing'? After all these years, it's the first time I realize you're so shameless. Take out your phone and see yourself now."

Xu Yan froze, what do I look like? Besides feeling a bit hot, what other change could there be?

Taking out his phone and turning on the camera, Xu Yan instantly exclaimed, "Crap!"

The red-faced, sweaty guy in the phone was him!

Chen Shuo cackled evilly, "So how are you? I just breathe heavily; unlike you, coming out can be turned into a traffic light, haha!"

Meanwhile, several new customers entered the shop.

"Boss Wang, is today's dish really extra spicy? Last time you said it was spicy but it wasn't."

"Exactly, it was delicious, but calling it extra spicy looked down on us Yunnan people, haha."

"Only a tad spicier than the toothpaste I use."

Wang Fan laughed, "Today's recipe has changed, you can give it a try, but I don't recommend doubling up on spices because it's genuinely spicy."

"Our fear is it won't be spicy enough, top level, definitely!"

"Exactly, make it the spiciest to see if I can break a sweat."

"Hey, these two don't seem to handle spice well? Pace yourselves, heard a social media star was hospitalized from eating here recently."

Wang Fan began stir-frying away, with the scorching flames captivating the few guests watching on enthusiastically.

"Wow, wow, there's that today, nice, nice."

"Hope this chili can sting like that fire, haha."

Xu Yan no longer had the energy to focus on Wang Fan's showmanship; he now really, really wanted to drink some water to relieve the heat.

He felt in his mouth, especially both lips, like a fiery blaze without direction.

As if a small flame was constantly igniting within, initially just a minor spark, but as the chicken pieces disappeared, that small flame began to flourish till it burned wild.

He really wanted to extinguish it now!

"Tsk... Huff... Old Chen, can't we have a bottle of baijiu? Tsk... Huff..."

"Huff... Huff... Sorry, no alcohol here, and if you drink, you lose. Huff... Huff..."

"Damn! Fine, I'm all in! Tsk... Huff... Ow! Whoever finishes first wins!"

To say Xu Yan was gutsy would be an understatement, willing to abandon himself just for the payment rights.

Throwing chicken pieces, chili skin into his mouth, chewing a few times before swallowing.

But the aftermath was evident, the accumulated spice making him feel like rolling his eyes.
