Mushroom Lord in the Underground City

Chapter 133: Beneath the Water

In the deep water, a squad formed by five diving Pukis was cautiously diving downwards.

The team suddenly changed direction, swimming horizontally for dozens of meters before continuing downwards.

Just now, there was an almost completely transparent large fish in front of the Pukis, but under [Sound Wave Detection] it was completely exposed.

With continuous detection, they soon found that monster fish with a mouth that could extend over thirty meters ahead in the distance.

One of the diving Pukis used [Infrasound Attack], it couldn't cause enough damage to the monster fish, but it could make it uncomfortable!

Sure enough, the monster fish turned its body and swam away to another place.

And when a giant jellyfish caught up with the Puki squad, attempting to catch them all in one go.

The last Puki in the squad broke away and charged towards the jellyfish from behind.

Thunk—

After a dull explosion, the Puki shattered everywhere, and the jellyfish had a big hole in it, losing its ability to move.

It was Self-Destruction!

Lin Jun added Self-Destruction!

This was already the third batch of diving Pukis.

Ever since the first batch was completely wiped out, after careful consideration, Lin Jun still decided to add the [Self-Destruction] skill.

As expected, the Pukis couldn't escape the fate of self-destruction.

This skill was forcibly upgraded by Lin Jun from Level 5 to Level 6, with increased power.

The seventh floor was a bit more difficult than Lin Jun imagined, the hardest part was the appearance of giant demons.

Perhaps it's easier to grow bigger in deep water?

The giant demons meant that with the same level, they had higher attributes and thicker blood volume.

The specific situation was just like the Earth Worms from before, two Level 50 Earth Worms wiped out Lin Jun's expedition army.

With the same level, if changed to spiders or Minotaurs, they would've been taken down early.

The giant demons in the water of the seventh floor were similar, the Pukis' combat power in the water was inherently weaker.

Although not impossible to beat, dying with them wasn't worthwhile.

Lin Jun just wanted to explore all the waters, and naturally, if it could be avoided, it should be avoided.

Fortunately, demons are ultimately demons, their behavior and attack patterns can always be traced.

After three rounds of trial and error, Lin Jun roughly finished memorizing the patterns.

Finally, four Pukis successfully reached the sand and ruin-filled bottom layer.

Probably because there were many hiding places at the bottom layer, giant demons usually wouldn't come down, it was quite safe...

A claw suddenly extended from the sand at the bottom, clamping onto the tail of a diving Puki.

[Infrasound Attack Level 6] X4

The attack ignored defense, and it had a significant effect on the crab demon which relied solely on its shell for defense.

It directly shattered its internal body, and the claw holding the Puki naturally loosened.

Along with it, two other crab demons hiding in the sand, unable to act in time, also died.

The injured Puki had a cut on its waist, making movement difficult, and its blood volume was reduced to a sliver.

Just perfect for opening the way!

The low-blood Puki laboriously swam in front, while the remaining three unharmed Pukis leisurely followed behind.

This time, Lin Jun had the diving Pukis float upwards, keeping a distance of five or six meters from the sandy bottom, avoiding ambushes from crabs.

The bottom layer was indeed a refuge for small demons, in just a short while, Lin Jun saw four or five new types of demons that weren't seen on the upper levels.

These small demons hid among the ruins or, like the crab demons, hid in the sand.

They weren't strong, and seeing Pukis in groups, they didn't dare attack.

As they swam along, Lin Jun looked at the remnants of stone buildings and wondered what this area used to be?

Residential area?

Unlikely, as these stone pillars, though collapsed and broken, were obviously once magnificent buildings; residential houses should be smaller.

But if they were like temples, assembly halls, or royal palaces, then everything seemed too plain.

There were no extra decorations, nor any statues representing a god or person.

Lin Jun thought the place was too "clean".

In the impression of underwater ruins or shipwrecks, shouldn't there be some rusty iron tools or treasure chests?

But here, apart from stones, there was nothing else.

Human adventurers?

This guess was quickly dismissed by Lin Jun.

Not that humans couldn't come here, but the difficulty was clearly incomparable to simply fishing on the upper levels.

Given the difficulty, coming down here would likely mean picking good things to take, it couldn't be cleaned out so thoroughly.

Most likely, there wasn't any treasure here, to begin with...

The exploration lasted nearly two hours, surprisingly without encountering fatal danger, that low-blood Puki still hasn't been expended!

Although there wasn't any special harvest, Lin Jun also didn't find any signs of rifts.

A good piece of news perhaps?

While Lin Jun was a bit distracted, as a diving Puki swam through a patch of seagrass, its scales caught on an inconspicuous hook.

The hook was pulled by the Puki, and the next second, the seagrass connected to the hook was rapidly retrieved, pulling the Puki down.

A sharp stone pillar pierced through the Puki pulled down, sending it to Puki-Heaven on the spot.

Lin Jun quickly had the remaining 2.5 Pukis stop and carefully observe the surroundings.

They then noticed there were more than one hook, many seagrasses were connected to hooks, and the hooks were tied, not naturally grown this way.

The base of the seagrass connected to the hook was a primitive yet ingenious mechanism, designed to retract the caught prey and finally kill it with those sharp stone pillars set at the bottom.

Lin Jun saw some water demons also pierced on the stone pillars.

It was obviously a trap set by an intelligent being.

Who would've thought, there are intelligent beings on the seventh floor too!

Mermaids?

It didn't feel right, if it were mermaids, shouldn't they be singing to lure adventurers on the upper levels? Living in the depths catching fish and shrimp seemed a bit too miserable?

Carefully and cautiously guiding the diving Pukis to explore.

Half an hour later, although the Pukis didn't find the intelligent beings, they discovered a switch on a relic stone wall!

Underwater Treasure Chest Room?

Two Pukis worked together to turn the switch, and with a dull "rumbling" sound, a downward sloping passage emerged.

This feeling doesn't seem like a treasure chest room...

Lin Jun had seen treasure chest rooms before, they were simple and exquisite single rooms, with a treasure chest placed in the center.

This looked more like a passage leading to a new area than a treasure chest room.

Without much hesitation, Lin Jun directly guided the 2.5 Pukis into it, as they were meant for this purpose.

Inside the passage, Lin Jun saw grooves for lighting crystals on both sides, and in one groove, there was even the remnant of a crystal that had long been out of commission.

Along the way, there were many symmetrical passageways, but with only a few Pukis left, splitting up was pointless, so Lin Jun simply went straight ahead.

At the end of this path was a hall.

Under a giant headless statue with tentacles, three stone discs stood side by side, and on the two sidewalls were murals, long eroded by time and indistinguishable.

On both stone walls, there were some mottled murals, unfortunately eroded by time, making it hard to recognize their content.

So, is this a Divine Hall?

Meanwhile, in the perception of [Sound Wave Detection], some creatures were converging on this hall...
