Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls

Chapter 167: Aftermath

Sima Ye pondered the whereabouts of the person called Yuan Kai.

Zhan Lao, who had fought with Lee Zhen Ren, cursed out this name a few times earlier.

If Yuan Kai was still alive, leaving Yuan Kai roaming freely in the city would be a huge risk, waiting for disaster to happen again.

But if Yuan Kai was dead, who could have killed him?

For Zhan Lao to depend on Yuan Kai to succeed in their mission, this Yuan Kai must have been at least Core Formation Level.

"Senior martial brother?"

Zhao Jia Rui's voice brought him out of his thoughts.

He glanced at her and said, "Help to clear the city, be on the lookout for someone called Yuan Kai.

"If you see him or her, do not engage and use the voice-transmitting jade pendant to call for reinforcement.

"Master and the other disciples will be here soon."

Zhao Jia Rui and the other disciples bowed to him and said, "Yes, senior martial brother."

After giving out his instructions, Sima Ye made his way to the Sima Family Mansion to check out the status of the mansion.

"Jia Rui....Martial sister Jia Rui, let me follow you in clearing the rebels." Du Feng lowered his body and said with a smile to Zhao Jia Rui.

Zhao Jia Rui rolled her eyes at him and didn't bother to reply.

She leaped down the high wall of the city and went on her own way.

"Wait for me!" Du Feng took it that no response meant silent acceptance, so he quickly leaped down from the wall behind her.

...

Without much organization and leadership, the rebels were quickly taken care of by the cultivators and soldiers.

The bloodshed in the city stopped as quickly as it had started.

Cries and moans replaced the bustling sounds in the streets.

The bodies of the rebels were dragged and thrown outside the city walls.

Soon, it stacked up to three meters high after the bodies were piled up.

Then, the rain finally poured down from the gloomy sky.

Families inside the city had to pick up the pieces of their lives and whatever they had left.

Many of their friends and families had been killed by the rebels.

Some were looted clean, and they didn't have much left in their name.

It would be dire times ahead for them, with the weather turning cold to autumn.

And with the arrival of autumn, they had the autumn tax to take care of.

Those who failed to do so would be sent to hard labor for the emperor.

Most of them couldn't see any sliver of hope ahead.

Inside the Lin Mansion, Lin Xuan Qi sat in the main hall in his favorite seat looking out towards the wooden gates of the mansion.

Xue Cong, Yue Jie, and Yue Xin were surprisingly quiet and calm when they heard what had happened to him.

They were worried sick but didn't want to make a ruckus and make him much more stressed than he was.

"Master Lin." One of the guards from the Sima Family came into the main hall and bowed to him.

The guard went on and said, "The rebels have been successfully put down.

"The factories are intact and there weren't any casualties.

"We will stay for a few incenses' time, making sure that it is safe, before leaving."

Lin Xuan Qi stood up and said, "Thanks. I will instruct them to cook a meal for you. Do stay for some before leaving."

It might help the servants to get back to normal by giving them something to do.

Xue Cong nodded and said, "Yes, Master Lin. I will get it done."

Yue Jie and Yue Xin joined in to help.

"Me, help too!" Zhi Yong also offered his help to carry the firewood.

He had tried to calm everyone down when they were told to be ready to evacuate but wasn't successful.

Zhi Yong felt that it was his duty to help in any way he could, and this was his chance.

Xue Cong, Yue Jie, and Yue Xin nodded their heads at him with a smile.

It reminded them of how it was when the mansion was still sparsely populated with only them around.

So much had changed and some things didn't change.

Lin Xuan Qi had more responsibilities now and despite it all, he was still fair and kind to them.

"Thanks, Master Lin." The guard bowed to Lin Xuan Qi, turned around and walked out of the main hall, headed towards the wooden gates.

Lin Xuan Qi gave out a long sigh and picked up his teacup.

He took a sip from the teacup and organized his thoughts.

So much had happened in such a short span of time.

First, it wasn't over yet and there would be more turbulence ahead.

Things would get messy with the disruption of goods, loss of lives, and properties in the city.

It wouldn't be much of an issue for him with the rice from the system.

But those affected might have other ideas to try and stay alive.

He had to be prepared for the subsequent disorder in the city.

Secondly, it was obvious to him that the Da Qian Dynasty had all the symptoms of a failing dynasty.

After this rebel, there would be the next one.

And everything was but a play to the cultivators and imperial officials.

He had to do something to ensure that his clan could weather the storm ahead.

What he was doing might not be enough.

He would have to get more men into the clan, increase his influence and this time maybe get some cultivators as guards.

Lastly, he would be able to speed up his cultivation with the Five-Element stone and figure out the Five-Element Qi Concentration Pill.

It was time to pay Sima Long and Sima Ye another visit.

And hopefully he would be able to gain more insights from them about the cultivation world.

"Master Lin!" Lee He Song's voice boomed in the air, and Lin Xuan Qi stood up from his seat with excitement.

"Master Lee!"
