Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls

Chapter 172: Power Struggle

The Governor pointed his finger at Magistrate Ho and wagged it at him.

"You better see to it now!" He slammed his other hand on the table.

Some of the stationery on the table fell, and the stack of documents nearly toppled over.

"Yes, Governor." Magistrate Ho crawled on his four limbs and retreated out from the main hall like an insect scurrying away from its predator.

The Governor breathed deeply, trying to calm his anger.

He turned his head back at the cultivators from the Six Pulse Sword Sect and Qing Feng Sect.

That was another headache waiting for him.

"Governor, rest assured that the Six Pulse Sword Sect will send someone powerful like Lee Zhen Ren to protect the city soon." Ruo Zhi cupped her hands at him and said.

"From my understanding, the Six Pulse Sword Sect doesn't have anyone else at the Core Formation Level near the end of their life.

"And besides that, I think that Lee Zhen Ren had done the citizens of Da Qian Dynasty a disservice.

"So many deaths would have been avoided if he took the threat seriously after Sima Ye had informed him."

A middle-aged man, dressed in the signature cultivation robe of the Qing Feng Sect, stroked his beard and gave Ruo Zhi a side eye.

Ruo Zhi gripped the handle of the chair she was sitting in tightly and glanced at her disciples.

Her disciples could only put their heads down and keep quiet.

She couldn't do much to the middle-aged man sitting opposite her.

The middle-aged man, Han Hong, was the peak lord from the Qing Feng Sect's Artifact Peak.

In terms of cultivation level, she was also no match for him, with him at Nascent Soul Level.

"I'm sure that Lee Zhen Ren had his difficulties.

"From what I heard from his disciples, Sima Ye sought to work with Lee Zhen Ren with a plan.

"Maybe Sima Ye's plan had caused him to misjudge the threat?"

Ruo Zhi thought about what she had heard from Lee Zhen Ren's disciples and tried to speculate that it was Sima Ye's fault.

Han Hong stroked his beard and glanced over at Sima Ye.

"Master, I assure you that I've warned about the threat to Lee Zhen Ren, urging him to put in all the men he could, but he wouldn't listen."

With a shake of his head, Sima Ye told them what he had briefed Lee Zhen Ren.

Han Hong nodded his head and said, "I concur, Sima Ye had asked for the reinforcements from Qing Feng Sect immediately after he figured out something was amiss."

"You...!" Ruo Zhi couldn't say much but bit her lower lip to stop herself from lashing out at Han Hong.

Lee Zhen Ren was dead, and it was a situation of who said what without much evidence.

The Governor sat in his chair and observed what was going on.

These cultivators were such greedy souls.

Not a thought was given to those poor folks who had perished.

The first thing they were thinking about was the power grab for the protector guardian role for Hong Feng City.

'Lee Yi Hong' felt honored to be able to have a glimpse at how these righteous sects behaved.

The Governor pondered and thought that this was an opportunity for him to sow discord among the two sects.

If he was able to weaken the Qing Feng Sect, he might be able to get into the emperor's good books.

The emperor was dying to weaken Qing Feng Sect and the Sima Family.

Under the sect master, Lin Fan, hundreds of years ago, he had led the Qing Feng Sect to be in control of most of the resources in Da Qian Dynasty.

And the Sima Family being an ally of Lin Fan under Sima Liang, had also grown to be a monster too big and powerful to the emperor's liking.

He would have many options if he was able to be summoned by the emperor to the capital city.

"I'm sure Lee Zhen Ren had tried his best and I don't personally doubt that Lee Zhen Ren had done anything wrong."

"What do you mean by this?" Han Hong's hand stopped on his beard, and he gave a stare at the Governor.

The Governor was the one that had asked for help from the Qing Feng Sect to investigate the robbers, but now, the Governor was trying to put Lee Zhen Ren in a good light.

Han Hong's stare didn't wane, but the Governor ignored it.

He gave Han Hong a smile and replied, "The emperor had been in much favor of having the Six Pulse Sword Sect here in Hong Feng City.

"Their sect could learn and improve a lot with the presence of the Sima Family here."

The Governor's smile stuck on his face while he looked at Han Hong.

"Indeed, the emperor's wishes shall be acknowledged." Han Hong stroked his beard and nodded his head.

Even though Sima Ye and the other Qing Feng Sect disciples weren't too happy about it, they kept quiet to what the Governor had said.

The Governor was subtly reminding Han Hong that with the Sima Family around in Hong Feng City, there was no way the emperor appointed someone from Qing Feng Sect to be the protector guardian.

Ruo Zhi sat up straight at what she had heard.

"Thank you for your fair judgement." Ruo Zhi and the disciples of Six Pulse Sword Sect cupped their hands and thanked the Governor.

"I will write a petition to the emperor asking for more cultivation resources for the Six Pulse Sword Sect.

"After the demise of Lee Zhen Ren, the Six Pulse Sword Sect needs to pick itself up again.

"It would be a loss for the Da Qian Dynasty if anything happened to the Six Pulse Sword Sect."

The Governor said to the cheers from Ruo Zhi and the disciples of the Six Pulse Sword Sect.

Han Hong, Sima Ye and the other Qing Feng Sect disciples sat in their seats without any expressions.

The balance of power in Hong Feng City might change after this.
