Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls

Chapter 222: Lee Qing

Lin Xuan Qi nodded and said, "It is a simple test, don't worry."

"What do you need me to do?"

"I will recite a list of items once and you will try to remember them, then recite them back to me." He replied and the woman gave out a sigh.

The test didn't seem to be too difficult.

Lin Xuan Qi didn't want to go through too many difficult tests and tried to use how good their memory was as a proxy.

If they couldn't remember much, all the instructions given wouldn't be followed.

And as for the characters of these new recruits, he knew that it would be a hit and miss.

Everyone could pretend to be good when they needed something, until they got what they wanted, and their true self would emerge.

"I'm ready." The woman said.

Lin Xuan Qi began to recite common household items.

"Three buckets, four pairs of chopsticks, five chairs..."

He went on and recited a list of ten items.

The woman frowned and tried to remember as much as she could, mumbling to herself over and over again what she had heard.

This was an opportunity she must grab to survive.

Lin Xuan Qi gave her some time before he said, "You can recite what I've said back to me now."

The woman nodded and began, "Three buckets..."

In the end, she was able to recite seven items without any errors.

It was good enough for Lin Xuan Qi and he said, "Congratulations, you've passed the test."

"I've passed? That's all?" The woman's hands began shaking from her excitement.

"You will get an allowance of sixty copper coins per month.

"Food and lodging would be provided.

"But there are rules in the clan that you need to adhere to.

"Delinquents would be dealt with if you broke any of them.

"The chores can be backbreaking, so, are you willing to join?"

The woman didn't hesitate much, and she nodded her head vigorously.

Free food and lodging.

She would be crazy to reject such an opportunity.

"Then, go over there and sign the contract with that young lady over there." He stretched out his hand in the direction of Yue Jie.

The woman nodded and quickly ran over to Yue Jie.

Yue Jie briefed her and after she felt that it was fine, she signed the contract.

"Thank you, Master Lin." The woman knelt down after signing the contract and thanked Lin Xuan Qi.

Yue Jie quickly helped her up and asked her to stay by the side.

When the others heard what the woman had shouted, they began to get excited too.

After what had happened yesterday, they were hoping to be able to get employed by Lin Xuan Qi.

And now, the woman confirmed to them that there was still a chance.

The queue moved and one by one, they got the same surprise to see that the porridge wasn't as diluted as before.

"Rice! I see rice inside!"

They exclaimed with excitement when they saw the rice.

Things might get better soon, and the rice price would stabilize, they thought.

...

Meanwhile, Lee Qing, a disciple of Ruo Zhi, came over to the gambling den where the Poison Fang Gang was.

What she saw was, however, something she didn't expect.

There were blood stains smeared all over the cold ground outside the gambling den.

And inside the gambling den, no one was to be seen, and the gambling tables were a mess, as if the gamblers had left in the middle of it.

Something happened to Poison Fang Gang.

Lee Qing shook her head and got out of the gambling den after a moment.

Every moment staying inside the messy gambling den made her want to cringe.

If it wasn't for Ruo Zhi to task her to be here, she wouldn't get near this dirty and messy area in her lifetime.

And it was a prolonged one for her being at Qi Concentration Level.

"Guess I'll have to do it myself." She mumbled to herself, not thinking too much about it.

The task of stopping a mortal from dispensing charity porridge didn't seem like a difficult task.

She just needed to scare them off with her presence, she thought.

Ruo Zhi had briefed her not to be too enthusiastic about it.

Just show up and bail immediately when things go wrong.

The rice merchants and Magistrate Ho were trying to make use of the Six Pulse Sword Sect.

With this thought, she walked towards the direction where Lin Xuan Qi was dispensing the charity porridge.

...

Unaware of what was coming for them, Lin Xuan Qi and the others were busy with the charity porridge and recruitment of new servants.

Things went smoothly for the most part.

There were some who tried to cut the queue or demanded that they got a chance to be recruited by him, but they were dealt with swiftly by the guards.

Liu Shi Shi was standing by the side, observing everything and she suddenly saw someone that had a sword in her hands approaching.

She was wearing a veil covering her face and drew out her sword when she got near to the porridge stalls.

Liu Shi Shi quickly drew out her belt sword and got to where Lin Xuan Qi was.

Lee He Song also drew out his sword and was more than ready to face whoever was coming.

He took out a few copper coins and threw them at Lee Qing.

Clank.

The copper coins hit onto something that was a yellow glow which engulfed her body, and they dropped to the ground.

Lee He Song figured that she was a cultivator to be able to do something like that with an Artifact.

He frowned and had second thoughts.

Although he felt that he had become stronger with what Lin Xuan Qi had taught him, he wasn't sure if he was good enough to take on a cultivator.

It might be best for him to ensure that Lin Xuan Qi would be unharmed.

Lee Qing raised her hand with her sword and pointed at Lin Xuan Qi.

"My employers want you to stop what you are doing." She shouted.

Those in the queue gasped and they froze where they were.
