Clan Prosperity Starting With My Servant Girls

Chapter 91: Rampant Robbers

"What are you waiting for? Come, let's have dinner. I'm starving already." Lin Xuan Qi said.

He rolled the pieces of paper with the rules that he had written down and held them in his hand.

Xue Cong and Ah Di nodded, and they moved along.

When he got to the dining hall, he sat down and glanced at the dishes that were in front of him.

"Is that all?" He asked.

There were visibly fewer dishes than before.

The braised meat had less portion, filling only up to half of the plate.

It would cover the whole plate previously.

"Master Lin, I err..." Xue Cong stammered and glanced over at Yue Jie.

He frowned and said, "Don't tell me you've calculated wrongly and spent all of the money?"

"No. I err..."

Yue Jie came to Xue Cong's rescue and said, "It's not Xue Cong's fault. The food prices had doubled overnight."

"Doubled?" He mumbled to himself.

"Yes, the vendors said that there weren't as many supplies coming into the city recently and they had to raise the prices.

"The robbers are preying on those poor farmers.

"They said that the magistrate will be taking care of the robbers soon.

"Prices should go back to normal when the farmers dare to venture here again." Yue Jie explained.

He frowned at what he had heard.

Magistrate Ho wasn't someone you could depend on.

God knows how long it would take to deal with these robbers.

"How much money do you have left?" Lin Xuan Qi asked.

"We have around three taels of silver left."

He nodded and said, "I shall give you ten taels of silver later."

All of the money from Hun Xiong Kun was already spent on buying materials and equipment for the factories.

He had to use the taels of gold from Sima Long to buy the new workers.

There were around sixty taels of silver he had left.

The soap business had better get started soon.

He would have lots of mouths to take care of, draining his wealth if he didn't make more money.

Fortunately, with the increase in rice delivery from the system, he would be able to get more from Hun Xiong Kun.

"Eat first." Lin Xuan Qi picked up his chopsticks and said.

The others nodded and joined him.

...

After he was full, Lin Xuan Qi put down his chopsticks and glanced at Lee He Song.

"Master Lee, I need you to be with me tomorrow."

It will be a busy day for him tomorrow.

And even though the threat from Su Chen and Wu Tong was over, he needed Lee He Song to exude power and authority to the newcomers.

Two days were up, and it was time for Fei Luo to deliver.

Lee He Song nodded his head and said, "Glad to be of service."

Lin Xuan Qi glanced over at Liu Shi Shi next.

"Do you have any news from your friends from Yi Mei and Storm Fist Thunder Sect?"

Liu Shi Shi, who was fiddling with her teacup in front of her, stopped and glanced over at him.

She leaned over towards him and said, "They are excited to join and see whether you are as talented as I've boasted you to be."

"What?" Lin Xuan Qi frowned and took out the pieces of paper he brought with him.

He unrolled the pieces of paper and read out loud from it.

"House rule number eight.

"Anyone who brings unwanted attention to the Clan, especially the head of the clan, shall be punished with no remuneration for a month."

It was Liu Shi Shi's turn to frown when she heard him.

"What's this house rule number eight?

"That's not fair.

"It must have been specifically written to target me." She protested.

Liu Shi Shi then tried to grab onto the piece of paper he was holding in his hand.

But she stopped when she recalled her encounter with him in her room.

Her face blushed and she pulled back her hand quickly.

Lin Xuan Qi didn't think much about her behavior, and he put down the piece of paper and said, "I've written some rules for all of you to adhere to."

Xue Cong saw what happened between them and her heart sank.

Who was she kidding?

Master Lin should be with someone like Liu Shi Shi.

She wasn't as well read and well-traveled as Liu Shi Shi.

How could someone like herself, a poor girl from the slums, be with Master Lin?

However, she didn't have much time to ponder it as Lin Xuan Qi glanced over at her, Yue Jie and Yue Xin with a grin.

He was giving her that happy vibe again.

"I need you to make ten copies of the rules each.

"You can learn to write and memorize the rules at the same time.

"When you are done, teach the others what the rules are."

Lin Xuan Qi passed the pieces of paper and said.

Xue Cong sighed and glanced at the piece of paper in front of her.

She could make out what some of the rules said.

And to her disappointment, she didn't find anything about the female head of the clan.

Maybe Lin Xuan Qi wasn't going to get married? She thought.

There was someone else who was just as stressed as her.

"Master Lin, me forgetful." Zhi Yong said while he scratched his head continuously.

His face had squashed into a mangled mass with his worry.

Lin Xuan Qi hadn't forgotten about his loyal servant and said, "Don't worry. I will teach you the rules personally.

"And if you didn't get it, then that would be on me."

"Thank you, Master Lin. Me try best." Zhi Yong nodded his head vigorously at him and said.

With everything settled, he glanced back over at Liu Shi Shi.

"So, when can you arrange for your friends to come for the interview?"

Liu Shi Shi twitched her mouth, shrugged her shoulders and said, "Any time you want.

"They are out of funds from their adventures so they might be more desperate than you."

"Ask them to come the day after tomorrow." Lin Xuan Qi said, and Liu Shi Shi nodded at him.
