My Goblin System : Levelling up with my SSS Class Devouring skill

Chapter 81

Oh.

Well, it was worth a try.

"Alright," Satou said, leaning back in his chair with a slight smile. "How about this. If you agree to take tomorrow off, completely off, no work at all,I'll do one thing for you" said Satou

"Anything you want. Name it, and it's yours." Said Satou

Lyra blinked in surprise. "Anything?"

"Within reason," Satou clarified. "I'm not going to overthrow a neighboring settlement or anything crazy like that. But one reasonable request, whatever you want, in exchange for you actually resting for a full day."

For the first time since their conversation started, Lyra's exhausted expression shifted. A small, almost shy smile crossed her face as an idea clearly formed in her mind.

"Anything I want?" she repeated, her voice softer now.

"Anything you want," Satou confirmed.

Lyra was quiet for a moment, seeming to debate with herself. Her fingers played nervously with the edge of a parchment.

Then, speaking quickly before she could lose her nerve, she said "I want you to take me on a date."

Satou's eyes widened in genuine surprise. Of all the things he'd expected her to ask for time off with pay, a nicer office, additional administrative assistants, a date hadn't been on his list.

"A date," he repeated, making sure he'd heard correctly.

Lyra's face was turning pink, but she met his eyes with determination. "Yes. A real date. Not a working lunch where we discuss settlement business. Not a strategy meeting disguised as dinner. An actual date where we spend time together as... as people, not just as chieftain and administrator."

She took a breath, her words coming faster now, nervousness making her ramble. "I know you're busy, and I know you probably don't think of me that way, and I know this is probably completely inappropriate given our working relationship, but you said anything I wanted, and that's what I want. One date. Just the two of us. No settlement business, no laws to discuss, no emergencies to handle.

Just... us." Said Lyra

Satou sat in stunned silence for a moment. Lyra was brilliant, capable, and had been by his side through every crisis since the cave escape. He'd relied on her judgment, her organizational skills, her unwavering support. But he'd been so focused on survival and building the settlement that he hadn't really considered...

Actually, now that he thought about it, Lyra was beautiful. The way her eyes lit up when solving a complex administrative problem. The determined set of her jaw when facing challenges. The gentle way she treated the younger goblins despite her no-nonsense attitude with adults. The quiet strength that had kept the settlement running even when everything was falling apart.

How had he not noticed before?

A smile slowly spread across Satou's face. "Alright. You've got a deal."

Lyra's eyes widened. "Really? You're... you're not just saying that to make me rest?"

"I mean it," Satou confirmed. "Tomorrow, you take the full day off. No work, no sneaking glances at reports, no 'just checking in' with the guard force. Actual rest. And tomorrow evening, we'll have a proper date. Deal?"

The smile that bloomed on Lyra's face was brighter than Satou had ever seen from her. The exhaustion didn't disappear, but it was overshadowed by genuine happiness.

"Deal," she said softly. "I'll be ready tomorrow. Meet me at the town square at sunset?"

"Town square at sunset," Satou agreed. "I'll plan something nice. You just focus on actually resting."

"I will," Lyra promised. She started gathering her papers, organizing them with renewed energy despite her exhaustion. "I'll finish documenting these cases tonight, leave clear instructions for my assistants tomorrow, and then—"

"Lyra," Satou interrupted, trying not to smile. "You literally just agreed to rest starting tomorrow."

"I know, but I need to finish these tonight so I don't have to worry about them tomorrow—" said Lyra

"How about you finish these now, then go straight to bed, and tomorrow you rest all day before our date?" Satou suggested. "That way you'll actually look awake and not like you're about to collapse."

Lyra paused, then laughed—a genuine, warm sound that Satou realized he didn't hear often enough. "You make a fair point. I probably shouldn't show up to our first date looking like death warmed over."

"Probably not," Satou agreed with a grin.

"Though I'd still take you even if you did."

Lyra's blush deepened, but her smile remained. "Thank you, Satou. For caring enough to make me rest. And for... for agreeing to the date. I know it probably wasn't what you expected me to ask for."

"No," Satou admitted. "But I'm glad you did. I think we could both use an evening off from being leaders. Just being people for a while sounds nice."

"It does," Lyra agreed softly. "Okay. I'll finish this paperwork, get some actual sleep, rest tomorrow, and then..." Her smile turned slightly mischievous. "Then you better show me a good time, Chieftain Satou."

"I'll do my best," Satou promised, standing. "Now finish your work and get to bed. I'll have Jessica check on you to make sure you actually sleep."

"You're sending Jessica to monitor me?" Lyra protested, though her tone was amused rather than annoyed.

"Absolutely," Satou confirmed. "She's worried about you, and frankly, I don't trust you not to sneak back here in the middle of the night to do more work."

"I wouldn't—" Lyra started, then stopped when she saw Satou's knowing expression. "Okay, I probably would. Fine. I'll go to bed after this and stay there until morning. You have my word."

"Good," Satou said. He paused at the door, looking back at her. "Lyra? I'm looking forward to tomorrow."

Her smile was radiant despite her exhaustion. "So am I."

As Satou walked back to his own quarters, he found himself genuinely anticipating the next evening. When was the last time he'd done something just for himself? Just for enjoyment rather than survival or settlement building?

He couldn't remember.

Maybe they both needed this more than they'd realized.

Behind him, in the administrative building, Lyra worked through the last of her

documents with renewed energy. She wasn't just working to avoid letting people down anymore. Now she was working to finish everything so she could fully enjoy tomorrow.
