Mike moved with the flow of the defenders, positioning himself near the wooden barricades just as the first wave crashed in.
Green-skinned goblins poured out of the treeline, shrieking wildly, crude blades raised. Behind them, lean gray wolves bounded forward, fangs bared and eyes glowing with hunger.
"So many already…" someone muttered nearby.
Mike didn't hesitate.
He stepped forward and slashed.
The long steel sword cut cleanly through the neck of the first goblin. Blood sprayed as the body collapsed before it could even scream.
Grand Weapon Mastery kicked in.
His movements became smoother, faster—each swing carrying far more force than a common sword should have been able to produce.
Two more goblins rushed him.
Mike twisted his wrist and swept the blade sideways.
One fell.
Then the other.
But the wolves were faster.
Three of them lunged at once.
Mike's eyes narrowed.
"…Let's try it."
He focused his will.
Beast Overlord activated.
An invisible pressure washed over the wolves mid-leap. Their bodies stiffened, eyes shaking as if struggling against an unseen command. One of them skidded to a halt, whining softly instead of attacking.
The other two faltered.
"Sit," Mike said instinctively.
To his own surprise—
They obeyed.
The wolves lowered themselves, ears flattened, tails tucked.
The goblins froze.
"…Huh?" one of them croaked.
Mike turned slightly and pointed at the goblins.
"Attack."
The wolves snapped their heads around.
In the next instant, they lunged—not at Mike, but at the goblins instead.
Chaos erupted.
The wolves tore into the goblin line, ripping throats and dragging bodies to the ground. The goblins screamed in panic, formation instantly collapsing.
The villagers stared in disbelief.
"Did… did he just tame them?" someone whispered.
A guard glanced at Mike, eyes wide. "Are you a tamer?"
Mike nodded once, never taking his eyes off the battlefield. "Yeah."
With the wolves tearing through the enemy ranks and Mike cutting down anything that slipped past them, the first wave was wiped out far faster than anyone expected.
The battlefield fell quiet—broken only by heavy breathing and the soft whimpers of the wolves now standing obediently beside him.
Mike exhaled slowly.
He turned to the villagers. "Everyone, fall back and tend to your injuries," he said firmly.
The villagers looked at him with gratitude, nodding as they retreated toward the inner houses.
But the silence didn't last.
From the treeline, more goblins emerged—this time in greater numbers. Behind them, fresh wolves prowled forward, eyes glowing as they prepared to strike.
Mike's gaze sharpened.
"More already, huh…"
Before the goblins could even organize, the wolves under Mike's control charged first, tearing straight into the enemy formation. The opposing wolves hesitated the moment they drew close, their instincts screaming at them.
Mike stepped forward and activated Beast Overlord again.
The pressure spread.
One by one, the enemy wolves faltered—then turned.
Within moments, three more wolves broke away from the goblins and moved to Mike's side, lowering their heads in submission.
"Good," Mike said calmly.
With six wolves now fighting under his command, the battle turned into a slaughter. The goblins barely had time to scream before they were torn apart or cut down by Mike's blade.
Steel flashed.
Blood fell.
In less than a minute, the second wave was gone.
Mike looked at the wolves gathered around him—six in total now, their bodies faintly radiating power under the influence of his talent.
"…This is getting easier," he muttered.
The ground trembled.
This time, the goblins didn't rush in recklessly.
From between the trees, a heavier presence emerged—larger figures with thicker armor, crude weapons slung over their shoulders, and cruel intelligence in their eyes.
Hobgoblins.
Several of them stepped forward, barking orders in harsh, guttural voices as ordinary goblins formed up behind them.
The guards on the walls stiffened.
"Hobgoblins…!" someone shouted. "That's a command unit!"
Final wave, Mike thought.
Without hesitation, he gave the order.
The six wolves surged forward, their bodies empowered by the 1000% boost. They crashed into the three hobgoblins like a tidal wave, tearing them apart before the creatures could even issue commands.
The battlefield fell silent.
Then—

Mike let out a slow breath as the system notifications continued to scroll.
"…SSS, huh," he muttered with a faint smile.
The smell of blood and trampled earth lingered in the air. Broken weapons lay scattered across the ground, and the remains of goblins were scattered around a purplish blood
The wolves gathered around him instinctively, forming a loose circle. Their eyes were sharper now, their movements more coordinated—no longer mere beasts, but hunters bound by his will.
A warm pressure spread through Mike's chest.

Mike stared at the screen for a long moment.
"…SSS-rank classes really are something else," he muttered.
He couldn't help but compare it to his first awakening—the F-rank Knight.
Back then, the skills he awakened had been painfully simple. Useful, yes—but limited.
Now, even the skills of an SSS-rank class felt like powerful talents on their own.
The gap was absurd.
While Mike was still lost in thought, a villager hurried over to him.
"Young man," the villager said respectfully, bowing slightly. "The Village Chief would like to meet you."
