Drax helped them secure rooms at a large inn, booking them for two weeks until the academy entrance exam.
After settling in, Mike sat on the bed and looked at the mark on the back of his hand. Chimmy had already returned to it, the fairy mark faintly glowing as he slept inside.
Mike opened his status screen to check the new powers he had gained.
[ Golden Fairy Magic ]
• You can control your mana and convert it into Golden Mana
• Golden Mana can be shaped into constructs
• Mana cost and stability depend on the complexity of the construct
[ Miracle Fairy Magic ]
• You can perform phenomena that defy natural laws
• You can restore sight to a person who has been blind since birth
[ Warning ]
• Miracle Magic is extremely powerful
• Use with extreme caution and only after careful consideration
Mike stared at the screen in silence.
"…Yeah," he muttered. "No wonder everyone's scared of Elder Fairies."
Mike leaned back against the headboard, eyes still fixed on the glowing text.
"Phenomena that defy natural laws…" he repeated quietly.
His brows furrowed.
"What does that even mean?" he muttered.
Restoring sight to someone blind since birth already crossed a line that normal healing magic couldn't touch. That wasn't repair—it was rewriting reality itself.
"Is it similar to my Reversal Engine?" Mike wondered as he thought more deeply.
"No… it's on an entirely different level," he murmured. "I can rewrite natural phenomena, but the stronger the rewrite, the greater the cost."
Mike let out a slow breath and lay back down again.
"Miracle power… I've never heard of it in my world. There's no record of anything like this," he thought, confused. "If something like this existed, it should be well known. There's no way it would stay hidden."
His eyes narrowed slightly.
"…Unless it's classified information," Mike concluded. "That's the most logical explanation."
Just then, a faint glow appeared beside him.
Chimmy popped out from the mark and landed on the bed, stretching out like a lazy cat.
"Ahh, that was a good nap," Chimmy mumbled, rubbing his eyes.
Mike glanced at him. "Then why did you come out?"
"You called me," Chimmy replied lazily. "So? What's bothering you?"
"I wanted to ask about the miracle power I got from you," Mike said honestly.
Chimmy waved a tiny hand dismissively.
"Forget about it for now. You won't be able to use it properly until you're at least Rank 6 or higher."
Mike stiffened. "Why?"
"It's too much for your current mana to handle," Chimmy said bluntly. "If you force it, your lifespan will be consumed as the price. Years. Decades. Maybe more."
Mike felt a chill run down his spine.
An image flashed through his mind—himself aged into a frail old man, teeth falling out, body withered after using miracle magic once.
He shuddered.
"…Nope," Mike said immediately, shaking his head. "I'm sealing it."
"Hm, okay then. I'm going back to sleep," Chimmy replied casually.
His body turned into a stream of golden light and sank back into the mark on Mike's hand, the glow fading until it became still once more.
Mike exhaled.
"So… I guess for now I only have Golden Magic," he muttered. "But honestly, that's powerful enough."
Golden mana constructs alone could already change how he fought.
His thoughts shifted.
"Next… I need a truly powerful beast," Mike said quietly.
The wolves crossed his mind—but he shook his head.
He had already released them earlier, sending them back to guard the village. With his passive boosts still lingering, they would be far stronger than before and more than capable of protecting the villagers.
"No point dragging them away from a place that needs them," he murmured.
"…I should go and take a look," he said quietly.
He remembered something Drax had mentioned earlier.
"I heard there's a pack of wolves living in the nearby forest," Mike thought. "If I can get their alpha… with my boosts, it could become something really powerful."
He stood up and strapped his sword to his waist.
Mike went downstairs and found Drax in the inn's common hall.
"I'm heading out to the forest for a bit," Mike said. "Don't wait up for me."
Drax frowned immediately. "Alone? That forest isn't exactly safe."
"I'll be fine," Mike replied calmly.
Drax hesitated, clearly wanting to insist, but when he saw Mike's expression, he sighed.
"…Alright. Just don't do anything reckless."
Mike nodded and left the inn, passing through the city gates and heading toward the forest outside Spireheart City.
The forest was dense and alive.
Tall trees blocked out much of the sunlight, and the air was thick with the smell of earth and leaves. Mike moved quietly, suppressing his presence as he followed the faint sounds ahead.
Growls.
Footsteps.
Wolves.
Mike climbed onto a thick tree branch and looked down.
Below him, dozens of wolves moved together in an organized formation. Their movements were clean, disciplined—not random beasts, but a trained pack.
"…They're scouts," Mike muttered. "Smart ones."
He followed them carefully, moving from tree to tree, never letting them spot him.
After nearly an hour, the pack finally slowed.
They entered a wide clearing.
At the center of it—
Mike's eyes narrowed.
A massive white wolf lay there, its body easily twice the size of the surrounding gray direwolves. Its fur was pure white, faintly glowing under the filtered sunlight, and its breathing was slow and steady.
The others circled it respectfully.
"…The alpha," Mike whispered.
This wasn't an ordinary wolf.
Even without activating any skill, Mike could feel the pressure coming from it.
Mike landed silently on the ground and took a step forward.
The moment he did—
The alpha's eyes snapped open.
Cold, sharp blue eyes locked onto Mike.
A deep growl rolled through the clearing.
Every wolf froze.
Mike didn't hesitate.
He activated his power.
[ Beast Overlord ]
A heavy pressure exploded outward from Mike's body, crashing directly into the white wolf's presence.
The alpha stood up slowly, fur bristling, muscles tensing as it resisted.
The two forces collided.
The ground trembled.
The surrounding wolves whimpered and lowered their bodies, unable to withstand the clash of wills.
The white wolf took one step forward… then another.
Its legs shook.
Mike's gaze stayed calm and steady as he looked straight into its eyes.
"Kneel," he said quietly.
For a long moment, nothing happened.
Then—
The massive white wolf lowered its head.
