Awakening the Useless Class… But My Talents Are Broken?!

Chapter 66: Death Lords

Mike slowly opened his eyes and stretched.

"Hah… that was a good nap," he said, rubbing the back of his neck as he sat up. "Didn't even realize I fell asleep."

He looked around—and immediately froze.

All around them were piles of corpses.

Wolves. Goblins. Orcs. Mutated beasts. Hundreds—no, Tens of Thousands—of them lay scattered across the field. Some were frozen solid. Others were crushed, burned, or drained of life.

Mike stared blankly for a moment.

"…You really weren't joking," he muttered.

Lily smiled calmly while pouring him a cup of water. "My undead handled everything. You slept for almost three hours."

Mike took the cup, still staring at the battlefield. "That's… a lot of work done."

She shrugged. "They kept coming. I just let them."

He took a sip, then laughed quietly. "Your undead army is terrifying."

Lily smiled softly, the earlier dangerous glint gone. "Thank you."

She stood up and brushed the dust from her clothes. "Now then, you said you wanted to see it, right?"

Mike looked at her. "The Death Knight?"

She nodded. "Yes. But I should warn you—it takes a lot of mana. And a lot of bodies."

She raised her hand, and the ground trembled.

A massive magic circle spread across the field, covering dozens of corpses at once. Dark runes lit up, glowing crimson and violet. The air grew heavy—thick with death energy.

Mike felt his chest tighten.

"Whoa…" he muttered. "That's… intense."

The corpses began to rise.

Bones snapped back into place. Flesh reformed unnaturally. Black armor shaped itself around the largest body, piece by piece, as if forged by invisible hands.

A towering figure slowly stood up.

Its eyes burned with crimson fire. Dark mist poured from its body, and a massive cursed sword formed in its grasp.

The pressure was overwhelming.

Mike swallowed. "That… that's a Death Knight?"

Lily nodded calmly. "Yes. A true one."

She raised her hand slightly, and the knight knelt before her.

"This is my creation," she said softly. "And soon, it can be yours too."

Mike stared at the towering undead, heart pounding.

"…Yeah," he said slowly. "That's definitely worth the wait."

"And it's not just that," Lily added, nodding toward the Death Knight. "They also come with their own mounts."

As if responding to her words, the Death Knight slammed the butt of its sword into the ground. Dark flames surged, and from the shadows behind it, a massive nightmare steed emerged—its body wreathed in black fire and cold blue embers.

"It comes with a mount too…" Mike said, staring in awe.

Lily nodded. "Yes."

Mike scratched his head. "That must've taken a crazy number of bodies. How many did it need?"

"Around a thousand orcs, give or take," she replied calmly.

Mike's eyes widened. "Damn… that's a lot."

She shrugged. "You should see what it takes to create a legendary-class lich. That needs over a hundred thousand bodies."

Mike clicked his tongue. "Yeah, mine's a summoning-type skill, not a creation one," he said. "That's probably why it's easier for me."

"Exactly," Lily nodded. "Summoning-type necromancy is cheaper and faster, but it's unreliable. You might get something powerful… or you might get trash."

Mike chuckled. "Guess I got lucky then."

Lily smiled faintly, watching the Death Knight stand silently beside its nightmare mount, radiating death and power across the field.

Mike looked at the massive pile of corpses scattered across the field and pointed toward it.

"So… how many more can we make with this much material?" he asked.

Lily glanced at the pile, then at him. "Let's find out."

She raised her hand again, her expression calm—but her eyes glowed faintly.

Dark mana surged outward as she activated her Death Knight creation skill once more.

The air instantly grew heavy.

A massive pressure slammed down on the area, far stronger than before.

Mike staggered, his knees buckling as he felt the crushing weight press against his chest.

"Ugh—!" He clenched his teeth and dropped to one knee. "That… that's a lot stronger than before…"

Lily immediately noticed and turned to him. "Sorry! I released too much mana at once. That pressure wasn't meant for you—it was just the overflow."

She quickly toned it down, and the crushing sensation faded.

Mike took a deep breath and laughed weakly. "Damn… I almost kissed the ground there."

She smiled apologetically, though there was a faint glint of pride in her eyes. "That's the downside of high-grade necromancy. When I use it too many times in a row, the mana pressure builds up. Last time, I almost crushed my own undead. That's why I usually limit it." She paused, then added with a mischievous glint, "I just didn't expect you to be this sensitive."

Mike snorted. "Very funny, Lily."

She gave him a smug look, clearly enjoying herself.

Mike shook his head and turned his attention back to the battlefield. "Alright, let's finish this."

He activated Solid Step, reinforcing his footing as he watched her work. "Go ahead. Use the rest."

Lily nodded and extended her hand again. Dark sigils spread across the ground, pulling in the remaining corpses scattered around the field.

One by one, they rose.

The earth trembled as skeletal frames reassembled, dark armor forming over them like living metal. Cold blue flames ignited within their eye sockets.

When the process finally ended, thirteen Death Knights stood in formation, unmoving and silent.

Mike stared at them in awe. "That… takes a lot."

Lily nodded. "Yeah. They consume a huge number of corpses. If we had more, I could've made even more Death Knights."

Mike let out a slow breath. "You're the real monster here. I don't even see you getting tired."

She shrugged casually. "It only cost me around two hundred thousand mana. That's nothing. I have billions."

Mike shook his head in disbelief. "That's insane…"

Then he stepped forward, approaching one of the Death Knights. Even standing beside it, he could feel the oppressive aura radiating from its body.

"Alright," he said, placing his hand against the knight's armored chest. "My turn."
