"If you dare ask any stupid questions, it is your ass that will pay the price."
Hearing his tone, Lucy gulped. She hurriedly bobbed her head like a chicken. Fearing for her little Dierrie.
"Alright, now listen carefully. In my opinion, we still have a week before they sniff us out, or let's assume four days in the worst-case scenario. Your job is to locate the House Rudra and rendezvous at a spot, which I'll give you the location of later. It's a simple but tiresome job, but beggars don't have choices. It should be done within three days," He paused, letting the information sink in.
"Is that clear?"
"Yes!"
"...Yea"
"Huh?"
"YES!"
…
In the tents of House Kindhar
"My Lord, all the Spirit Realm cultivators that chased the woman haven't returned yet!" He spoke in a fearful tone.
"Hmm, what about that treasure?" A male, authoritative voice echoed from inside the tent.
"N-No, milord, they…they failed to retrieve it. The woman had some back-up with her."
"Useless wastes!! You guys are so useless, you can't even catch a single woman! Even with her cultivation sealed no less! Hmph, and yet you dare show your face here? Die!"
A monstrous claw stretched from the tent and struck the poor guy's head, blasting it into pieces.
Step Step
Heavy footsteps echoed from the tent, and a monstrous aura pressed down on the tents. It was so heavy that the cultivators of the lower realm immediately passed out.
All the disciples held their breath. From the tent emerged a hulking giant. He was at least 220cm in height!
Golden black claws replacing his hands, his angry expression added another layer of ferocity.
"L-Lord Biscar!" The disciple immediately went on their knees; even the Origin Realm cultivators were no exception.
"Ronan! Come here!"
Biscar shouted, and a shadow materialised in front of him. "My lord," Biscar kneeled.
"I want that treasure in a week. I don't care how you obtain that. Is that clear?" Biscar looked down at the kneeling figure and spoke. His voice sent shivers down the cultivator's spine.
"You will have that treasure in a week, my lord!" Ronan spoke with his head down, although it was nearly impossible to locate that treasure, but he had a special way.
"Mhm, good." Saying that, Biscar waved his hand, dismissing everyone. He turned around and walked inside his tent. "Follow me"
Ronan nodded and followed him inside the tent. The tent was huge, with everything one could need, ranging from food supplies and alcohol to many women.
Biscar sat on the throne at the center. Two women quickly arrived and poured some alcohol.
Ronan quietly stood back, not daring to speak.
"So, did you find any clues?" Biscar questioned, hearing this, Ronan sighed and shook his head. A few weeks ago, they had spread out to find any clues related to the inheritance. With their numbers, they found many treasures, but they couldn't find anything related to the inheritance.
"Dammit!" Biscar slammed his hand on the armrest, breaking it into pieces.
"Lord, the only clue we had was that treasure that the Holy Continent girl stole from us."
"...Sigh, find that girl as fast as possible. I know you have your own means, but you'd better be quick. We absolutely can't allow other Houses to have that inheritance." Biscar, as mighty as he was, still couldn't openly go against the other Houses.
Their leaders were all as strong as he, some even stronger. House Kindhar didn't have any bloodline aspect or specialty like the other Houses of Yvaris, but they had the largest number of cultivators.
And most of them had demonic beast cores as their Vital Core, which allowed them to stand on par with the other Houses.
But if they got their hands on this inheritance, the delicate balance of power in the Yvaris would be shifted in an instant.
This may sound nice, but it was a nightmare for the other Houses if any one of the Houses got their hands on the inheritance.
Yvaris was already drowned in small-scale wars and constant civil unrest; he couldn't help but imagine a deadlock situation.
Raising his head, "Hm, could that treasure really be a hint for the inheritance?" he asked, his rough voice laced with curiosity.
"...I don't know the exact details, but one of my spies said that it released a corrupting aura. He had felt his Mana stir a bit when he had sensed" Ronan shook his head. Although the details sounded vague, at that time, the shadow girl from Varnath was slaughtering his subordinates left and right. They couldn't really obtain any more useful information.
"...I see, Alright. I have decided to take ten Origin Realm and two hundred Spirit Realm cultivators with you and find that treasure, no matter the cost! This is my order; if any of them dare disobey, tell them to face the consequences!" Biscar said, his voice loud and authoritative.
Ronan nodded and disappeared.
…
A day later
A huge army marched through the rough terrain led by Ronan; no one dared disobey Biscar, and all of them had joined the expedition for the hunt.
"Ronan, are you sure we could trace that girl?" one of the Origin cultivators asked. They all had followed him without proper time or preparation.
"Yes, and what about her backing? I know, none could match us. But, in this realm, we definitely shouldn't roam around without proper information," another one spoke. He looked like someone who was entering his mid-thirties. His eyes definitely shone with the glint of a veteran.
Hearing his words, some nodded, some shook their heads. While others simply ignored. They weren't wrong from their point of view. It was like carrying ten fighter jets and two hundred tanks to capture a single fighter jet.
"Those are mere guesses, even if she did have some backing. It shouldn't be difficult with our strength and numbers to overwhelm them," Ronan spoke, his words instantly silencing the rest of the cultivators.
After another day of travel, they soon arrived at the border of the small mountain where Ronan's subordinates were slaughtered by Thalia.
Walking a few steps ahead, Ronan raised his head, "Search every corner of this cave, report to me anything that seems unnatural and dangerous. And most importantly, do not get overconfident! Am I clear?"
"Yes, sir!" The voice of two hundred Spirit Realm cultivators thundered; they all spread out around the cave, with the Origin Realm cultivators entering the cave cautiously.
But just as they were about to step in, "Hmm? What is that? Ronan frowned. He spotted a strange figure in a dark corner of the cave.
"Hah! It's just some bea—"
BOOOM!!!
