I Am Scouted by Real Madrid

Chapter 10: Debut (Part 2)

Ancelotti's face was filled with delight on the sidelines; he hadn't expected Chen Zhong to score so soon after being substituted into the game. Chen Zhong's relentless running on the field, his efforts in both offense and defense, brought joy to Ancelotti.

Beckham seemed inspired by Chen Zhong. Three minutes later, he dribbled down the right wing and showcased a signature "Beckham's Arc" shot.

Chen Zhong realized the gap between him and Beckham.

His long pass merely had an arc!

But Beckham's long pass could guide his positioning.

Chen Zhong surged from the backfield forward, pursuing the ball's landing point, charging into the right side of the penalty area. The ball perfectly bypassed Bambalini nearby, landing just right in front of him.

If Beckham's long pass were described in two words, it would be "comfortable."

Bambalini attempted to use his body to shove Chen Zhong aside, but ultimately lost balance and fell to the ground while tripping Chen Zhong as well.

"Whistle!"

The referee blew the whistle and decisively pointed to the penalty spot.

This immediately dissatisfied Bologna's fans, who were happy when Milan was previously penalized with a penalty, but...

This time it's their own team!

Kaka confidently stepped up to the penalty spot, taking the shot himself and scoring.

Milan overtook with a 2:1 score.

Chen Zhong ran with Kaka toward the corner flag to celebrate. Compared to Kaka's excitement, Chen Zhong appeared quite indifferent, still savoring Beckham's pass.

That very comfortable pass.

After Chen Zhong came on, Milan scored two consecutive goals, and his contribution in creating these goals quickly won over the Milan fans.

Bologna seemed stunned by these two goals.

Not only did their rhythm begin to falter, but even the players' emotions became less stable.

In the ensuing match, they first tackled Pato, earning Mutindani a yellow card, and even knocked down Kaka outside the penalty area in the 28th minute when he attempted to cut in from the left flank.

Kaka got up from the ground, appearing quite furious.

Chen Zhong watched Taliafico, who tackled Kaka, silently noting his number.

"Damn savages!"

"Do they even know how to play football?"

"Such dirty folks, if only Gattuso were here..."

On the stands, Milan fans complained, as Bologna seemed to attempt breaking Milan's rhythm through dirty fouls.

"Bologna's attack."

"Valiani returns the ball outside the penalty area."

"Di Vaio!"

"Oh!"

Bald-headed Di Vaio stepped forward to retrieve the ball, but Chen Zhong emerged from the side and directly knocked him over. Di Vaio rolled on the ground twice and looked at the referee.

However, the referee showed no reaction.

He saw clearly that Chen Zhong got the ball first.

Di Vaio seemed more like he collided into him.

Chen Zhong's actions earned applause from the Milan fans on the stands.

Even Ancelotti on the sidelines was noticeably impressed.

After Gattuso's injury, Milan lacked a "villain" who could hold firm on the pitch. It's impractical to expect Pato, Seedorf, Kaka, Pirlo, or Beckham to play that role!

But now with Chen Zhong's appearance, it seems part of this problem can be solved.

Ancelotti originally thought he needed to guide Chen Zhong himself, but witnessing Chen Zhong, who seemed to grasp this instinctively.

Bologna had virtually no players who could physically match Chen Zhong, he gradually helped his team take the initiative, and with several fierce tackles, made Bologna's players play calmer.

With Milan's solid midfield, Milan regained control of the tempo.

"The first half is about to end."

"Chen Zhong intercepts the ball and dishes it to Pirlo."

"Pirlo makes a straight pass."

"Pato, with a rapid counterattack on the left!"

"A beautiful dribble!"

Pato was seeking an opportunity in the front field, somewhat reminiscent of Bojan.

As the first half was about to end, he finally got a decent chance; Pirlo's through-ball sliced through Bologna's defense like a surgical knife.

This midfield maestro, creating a comfortable organizing environment, was finally showing his skills.

After receiving the ball, Pato dribbled past the defender in front, but Bologna's defense was tight; they quickly retreated, intending to encircle Pato.

However, Pato was not a reckless "brute."

Noticing the encirclement, he made a clever backheel, passing the ball to the oncoming Chen Zhong, conducting a wall-pass with Pato. Pato took the ball again and horizontally passed it to the middle.

Kaka sprinted forward, and at a distance of 20 meters from the goal, he immediately shot with a precise flick at the goal.

The ball curved beautifully into the left side of the net.

1:3

The Bologna fans in the stands woke up from the "strength" of 9 unbeaten games, as Milan, revitalized by Chen Zhong, once again evoked "fear."

Having firmly controlled the midfield, Milan launched more attacks. In the last moments of the first half, Pato even completed a strong charge from the center.

The youthful Pato attempted the feat of solo breakthrough, but unfortunately, facing Bologna, it ultimately didn't succeed.

Nonetheless, many Milan fans felt that this match saw Milan truly play in their style.

In the second half, with a two-goal lead, Milan seemed to return to their glorious past.

Their defense solidified, tightly holding onto the midfield possession, reminiscent of Milan in 2007. 2007 wasn't the peak under Ancelotti, but it was certainly these veterans' final "glory."

Ancelotti could clearly feel the difference between this season's veterans and those of 2007.

They were "running out of juice."

Bologna also realized it was difficult for the team to win, so they intended to cling to the score in the second half, while looking for chances to steal one.

Unfortunately, their calculations didn't work out.

Chen Zhong's presence exposed holes in their tactics, and when Seedorf assisted Beckham's goal in the second half, it essentially ended the match.

Beckham was very excited after scoring; it was his first goal for Milan!

The final score was fixed at 1:4.

Chen Zhong's performance in creating two goals also received media praise.

At the post-match press conference, Mikhailovic briefly stated in bitterness to reporters: "In terms of tactics, there wasn't much difference in this match."

"But Chen was the key to our defeat."

"He kept progressing, and in this match, showcased his long pass, the improvement influenced perhaps by Beckham, but his long pass had a distinctive arc, which he didn't have before at Real Madrid."

"Of course, the most crucial thing was that he solved Milan's defensive issue."

"Before he came on, Milan's defense seemed like sheep, but after he came on, it changed."

Mikhailovic was a bit discontented with Ancelotti; one reason was his past association with Inter, another was feeling Ancelotti won only thanks to a youngster!

Ancelotti, unevidenced by Mikhailovic's dissatisfaction, merely praised Chen Zhong's performance and expressed satisfaction with Chen Zhong's debut.

And when asked if Chen Zhong would play in the upcoming UEFA Europa League match, Ancelotti looked at the camera and chuckled: "If he keeps showing such performances, why not?"
