The Miraculous Treasure Hunting System

Chapter 137. In the Darkness

As Gami gained visibility in the darkness, he immediately controlled the tremor cannon below and aimed it.

However, before he could fire, the monster seemed to sense the danger, and its massive body sank directly to the bottom of the water.

Seeing this, Gami couldn't help but shout, "It sank to the bottom of the sea! Damn monster, it's really cunning!"

However, the others couldn't see anything in the darkness and couldn't help much.

It should have been nighttime outside, and even though the dark clouds above suddenly thinned, they couldn't let in any sunlight.

At this moment, Ed suddenly realized something. He quickly disassembled the lanterns around him, took out the illuminating stones inside, and then took out several stored illuminating stones from his inventory.

He piled them together.

Four cards immediately appeared in his hand, which he threw onto the deck, emitting a transparent light.

Four tall mirrors appeared.

The shape of the mirrors changed under Ed's control. He combined the mirrors, refracted the light, and arranged them around the illuminating stones.

The light was gathered and refracted to form a searchlight beam that shone onto the sea surface.

In an instant, a bright light appeared in the pitch-black night, illuminating everyone.

The searchlight beam locked onto the tentacles emerging from the sea.

With the added power of this beam, everyone was finally able to perform their respective roles.

Two more slender tentacles lashed out.

Several threads coalesced, shooting out and tightly binding the two tentacles.

Andre leaped up, his right fist glowing with blue light, and slammed it hard into one of the tentacles.

Flesh and blood flew everywhere. The point of impact was severed, and the entire tentacle fell off.

Elena also delivered a whip kick, striking the other tentacle.

The fluorescent light on her whip leg sliced through the tentacle like a blade, severing it.

Crimson blood spurted out.

In a single exchange, the two tentacles used for attack were severed, and Vanessa used the threads to pull the severed tentacles onto the deck.

"Awoooooooo!"

The monster cried out in pain, the intense agony causing part of its body to emerge and scream.

Seizing the opportunity, Gami immediately opened fire, several cannonballs blasting into the sea.

Water splashed everywhere, enveloping the monster. As the spray subsided, the sea surface turned blood-red.

Elena immediately reached the side of the ship, a faint magical wave sweeping across the surface.

She turned and shook her head.

The monster wasn't dead, but it had already sunk to the bottom and escaped.

Only two slender tentacles remained, lying on the deck, still slowly twitching.

"Is this the sea monster?" Ed couldn't help but exclaim, looking at the two tentacles.

Andre nodded and said, "This should be a sea monster's cub."

"A cub?"

Ed exclaimed in surprise.

This tentacle wasn't even whole; it had been split in half. And yet, this single tentacle was at least half the thickness of Ed's body, and its length reached an astonishing four or five meters.

This was the only section that had reached up to attack.

The tentacles were at least ten meters long. This enormous squid-like sea monster was only a juvenile.

How enormous must the adult ones be? They could probably easily shred a sailboat to pieces.

"It couldn't be the Kraken's child, right?" Ed whispered to himself, but then thought that mythical monsters from his previous world shouldn't be surprising in this dangerous, magical world. After all, there were far higher-level monsters here, enough to show the Kraken who the real sea king was.

"Well, it's rare to encounter sea monster attacks on ships in the open sea, but in the Dark Region, with its vast numbers of sea monsters, this isn't unusual," Andre said seriously.

As they spoke, Gami piloted his machine toward the still-twitching tentacles.

A steel tentacle extended, seemingly examining the severed remains.

"Unlike the sea monsters in the outer seas, these aren't edible. They can only be used as materials related to various spells," Andre continued.

Gami nodded after a moment.

"These two tentacles are almost completely imbued with darkness. They'll be excellent for combining with dark magic–related spells."

Here, "darkness" generally referred to spells related to night and shadows, not darkness in a negative sense; you can also call it dark magic.

"Alright, everyone, let's clean the deck. Its blood is mixed with magic and is highly corrosive. The ship's automatic cleaning system can't handle this kind of stuff," Andre said, walking into a small storage room and bringing out brushes and buckets.

To be honest, this was the first time Ed had seen such tools, commonly used on other ships, during the months he had been on board. Having a fully automatic ship truly was the dream of everyone who wanted to sail the seas.

Everyone received a set of tools, and the non-core crew members in the cabin also brought up several buckets of clean water.

They began washing away the blood from the areas where the battle had taken place.

At this point, Hamo and the other lower-level crew members could only lend a hand.

According to Andre, blood stained with dark magic was highly corrosive and could be harmful to normal humans who hadn't been transformed.

Ordinary people who hadn't been exposed to magic and had no protection were prone to getting sick if they came into contact with it, and if not treated in time, it could be very harmful to their bodies.

After finishing, everyone cleaned themselves off and returned to the cabin to rest, no longer in the mood to play cards.

However, this relatively weak sea monster cub had dispelled their gloomy mood and given them a sense of urgency.

Blood Alliance Calendar 456, September 10th

It was getting darker and darker. Now, even during the day, it was difficult to see even a single ray of sunlight through the dark clouds.

If it weren't for the occasional glimmers of light through the clouds a few times a day, one would be completely confused about day and night.

Moreover, the Dark Region was far more dangerous than anyone could imagine; everything here was extremely deadly to ordinary humans.

Yet judging from the bustling activity in the southeast corner, countless ordinary people were sailing through the Dark Region hoping to make a fortune.

Wealth truly could blind one to reality. The saying "birds die for food, humans for greed" existed for a reason.

As they drew closer to the point of darkness's eruption, the surroundings became increasingly dangerous.
