The Miraculous Treasure Hunting System

Chapter 93. Mirror

"Let's return to the ship first," Andre said calmly, leading the two back the way they had come.

After exiting the church, Andre raised his hand and rubbed his fingers together. Lines of light appeared, forming patterns that resolved into small, spectral birds, which flew away.

As they passed through the town, they spotted Elena and Vanessa also heading toward the port. Both women looked puzzled but kept quiet, making their way to the ship and boarding it.

By the time they returned, all the main crew members had gathered on the deck.

"What happened? Why are we back?" Bobby asked, somewhat confused. It was a rare, quiet island; he had barely stepped off the gangplank and hadn't had a chance to explore before receiving Andre's urgent message.

He then turned to Ed and Jason, asking in surprise, "Did you already perform the touching? Are you Touchers now?"

Andre replied directly, "There was a minor incident. We completed the touching ceremony directly on the ship."

Hearing Andre's words, everyone nodded, curious but not pressing for details.

Andre then looked at Ed and Jason. "You two have just finished the ceremony. Return to your rooms. Judging by your expressions, you probably don't wish to be disturbed."

At Andre's slightly teasing tone, the two nodded without hesitation and turned toward the stern tower, seeming to be in a hurry.

The others watched with understanding; they had all been through the same experience.

Ed pushed open his cabin door and threw himself onto the bed, taking a deep breath.

Lying there, he looked at his right hand and clenched it into a fist. He could feel it, his strength had indeed increased. With the surge of magic power now circulating within him, the enhancement was still growing, a sensation that was quite pronounced.

Finally, the magic power I've always dreamed of is in my grasp, Ed muttered excitedly. He couldn't wait to learn all kinds of spells and become the world's greatest wizard.

However, what puzzled him wasn't the magic itself, but his left arm, specifically, the inside of his forearm.

After the touching, a tattoo resembling a broken chain had appeared on that spot with the surge of magic. It definitely hadn't been there before.

Why would something like this appear with the awakening of my magic?

He couldn't figure it out now and resolved to ask the others later.

What concerned him more was the incantation that had appeared in his mind when he touched the mask, a rectangular rune with a thin, elongated "工" character at its center.

When this incantation appeared, he simultaneously understood its function:

[Mirror]: This incantation uses guided magical energy to create mirrors. Their size, hardness, and direction of movement can be controlled, and they can be drawn from a distance.

Its function was simple: it used magic to create mirrors. Perhaps because the incantation was so basic, Ed found he hardly needed to practice it to be able to draw it from a distance.

Generally, incantations that could be drawn remotely required extensive practice and excellent control of one's internal magic. Yet Ed, having just become a Toucher with his magic newly awakened, could already create mirrors from a distance.

This wasn't due to exceptional talent; the incantation was just that simple. It was like using a keypad phone, no matter how inexperienced you were, if you knew the number, you could make a call.

Thinking this, Ed immediately got out of bed, sat on its edge, and raised his right hand.

Clumsily manipulating his magical energy, he channeled it into his hand. It took nearly ten seconds to get the flow steady.

Then, the rune appeared in his mind: a rectangle with the "工" character at its center, glowing with a faint, transparent light.

A palm-sized, round mirror materialized in his palm, standing upright and floating slowly.

The mirror he created could be freely controlled.

The moment this thought occurred, the mirror began to float around him, following his will. It traveled about six or seven meters before its movement stiffened, becoming jerky and losing its initial smooth fluidity.

"Looks like I need more practice," Ed mused. With practice, he felt it should be able to fly farther.

He snapped his fingers, and the mirror shattered in the distance. The fragments vanished into thin air before they could even hit the floor.

Ed rested his chin on his hand. This spell... he could sense its inherent limitations. Yet, it complemented his current capabilities perfectly, and he already had ideas for its application.

After all, Ed frequently utilized various magical techniques in combat, all knowledge inherited from Jack. A renowned treasure hunter dubbed the "Magician" inevitably needed to fight, so Jack's inherited memories contained numerous ideas and experiences for applying magic in battle.

The most typical example was Ed's card-throwing technique. Even without the enchanted ring, he could now perfectly replicate it, controlling the flying cards to trace various arcs and even spin around targets with considerable power, like throwing knives.

Now that he was a Toucher with magic, he could utilize many spells in battle more effectively. This mirror, which could be floated, created, and altered at will, would indeed be helpful.

For others, it might only be a spell to create simple mirrors, not powerful, but it suited him well.

Ed flipped his wrist, and a card appeared in his hand. Its silver-gray surface marked it as one of the three spell cards left behind by Jack.

Now, infused with magic, he could feel much more when holding this spell card. He could enhance its flight speed and power by channeling magic into it, even micromanaging its trajectory. Furthermore, he could control the duration of its effect.

For instance, the already-used red card bearing the spell [Cross of Righteous Fire] could now be controlled instead of having a fixed three-second duration.

Thinking about the materials needed to make these cards... it seems it's time to start preparing, Ed thought.

Now the only thing I have to worry about is where to find good, proper spells—like the famous Fireball, Acid Arrow, Shield, or Flight. Only by learning those can I really call myself a wizard, Ed mused excitedly, feeling full of hope for his future.

Having sorted through his thoughts and adjusted to the magic within him, Ed stood up and walked out of his room.

Just then, he felt the ship shudder, they had set sail.

Reaching the corridor beside the stern, he saw Jason emerging from a room further down.

They exchanged smiles upon meeting, and Jason quickly approached.

"What was the name of the treasure you touched?" Jason asked curiously. Touching a treasure revealed its name and a fragment of its information.

"[Mind Mask]. And yours?"

"Mine's called [Wreath of Harvest]. It doesn't sound very powerful," Jason said, then paused. "Did you comprehend an incantation?"

"An incantation? Wait… you did?" Seeing Ed nod, Jason's expression froze, and he slowly cursed, "You lucky bastard!"
