Information to Mastery: Points Store System

Chapter 108: Foundation Education Skill

Upon hearing Michael's question, Kate's expression shifted as she asked, "What could we be planning?"

Judging from her clueless expression, Michael understood that even if there was any plan, she was not involved in it.

Regardless, after taking a deep breath, he responded, "Okay. You can tell him that I have agreed. I will tell you the time of the meeting."

"That's great. Actually, the reason why I insist on inviting you is because my grandpa asked me for this.

Apart from my mother, my grandparents are the ones that usually dot on me the most. Ever since I was born, this is the first time that my grandpa has ever asked me to do something for him.

So, even if it means exchanging the lessons for this, I am willing." Kate seemed to be quite relieved as she was saying those words.

Looking at her earnest expression, Michael could tell that she was telling the truth.

"About the lessons, you don't need to worry about that, I will give you some pointers when I have time." Michael stated.

This immediately made a bright smile appear on Kate's face.

Even though she was willing to give up this opportunity, it was quite painful. After all, as someone who was dedicated to being a police officer, how could she not value an opportunity of increasing her skills?

As long as the level of her skills improved, it would not be impossible for her to be able to earn enough merits, allowing her to be able to go up the ranks.

Of course, she understood that for her to be able to reach the level that she was aiming for, it would take years of effort and risks.

But since she was so determined to get revenge for her father, she was willing to pay this price. So, previously, she was actually thinking of asking if Michael could give her the pointers, if she paid.

But now that Michael had decided to give her the pointers anyway, how could she not be excited?

The two of them did not chat for long, before Kate left. After all, she still needed to be on the nightshift.

As for Michael, he continued with his usual routine. He just read for a few hours, ate, before he went to sleep.

When Michael woke up the following morning, he continued reading for a while, before pushing the programming skill to the expert level.

And with that, his SP was pushed to 26,011 points.

Michael wanted to read on stock trading, but then, he thought of something else.

Currently, he did not have any certification that proved that he had been in high school, not to mention that he had been in college.

While his life was in the right direction at the moment, this thing might bring some inconveniences in some situations.

That was especially if someone came to realize that Michael only had middle school level education. So, how could he explain the skills that he had?

As he thought about that, he began thinking of how to acquire the high school diploma, then work on a degree.

Thinking about it, he realized, why not just purchase it from the system store directly?

Previously, he had managed to acquire a driving license from the system store, implying that he could purchase documents that were approved nationwide, or even worldwide through the system.

As he thought about that, he quickly entered the system store, before he began filtering on the Media and Entertainment category.

For some reason, anything that was related to school was actually placed in the category of media and entertainment. As for the reason why that was the case, Michael had no answer, and neither did the system respond.

As expected, within the system store, Michael was able to find what he wanted.

He was slightly surprised when he realized that the diplomas were of different types. Going online, he found the description of each one of them.

A standard diploma was given after finishing the required courses in main subjects and electives.

An honors or advanced diploma came from taking harder courses, like honors or AP classes, and keeping high grades.

A vocational or career diploma showed completion of skill-based programs in areas like health, tech, or cooking, along with core subjects.

A certificate of completion was given when basic work and attendance were done, even if some courses or tests are missing.

Special diplomas, like the dual-enrollment, were earned by finishing advanced or widely recognized programs.

Looking at the array of diplomas, Michael wondered, should he just pick any of them, or maybe select all of them?

But then again, he thought, why would someone get different certifications for the same education level?

Out of the diplomas here, he realized that the best one was the one that could allow him to be able to enter college with the best qualifications.

Looking at the cost, Michael was not that much surprised, as it was within the range that he had expected.

To obtain the best high school diploma, the base cost was minimal. A small administrative fee for printing the diploma itself.

The true investment came from Advanced Placement exams ($98 each) and college-entry standardized tests like the SAT or ACT ($60–$75 each), taken multiple times to achieve top scores.

Including official transcript and processing fees, the total direct cost had typically reached $1,150.

That was basically 0.0115 SP. Of course, this cost was calculated based on the circumstance where all the tests were taken at the same time.

Otherwise, if they were spread during the time that someone was in high school, the cost would seem to be quite cheap.

To Michael, the price was almost ignorable. As long as it was less than 100 SP, he could not even consider that as a cost, with a balance of over 20,000 SP.

Having already decided on what he was going to pick, Michael did not waste any more time, as he decided to make the purchase.

It was just that, as soon as he decided to make a purchase, he received a prompt from the system that left him speechless.

[To acquire the certification, the host needs to have the skills of that particular level. Otherwise, it is impossible to be able to acquire the documentation.]

Michael could not help but blink his eyes, not sure what was going on with the system this time.

Was this not the same situation like, where he would pay, in order to obtain a degree? Why was it that the system needed him to have the qualifications for the document?

Maybe, this time, the system really valued its own reputation?

Despite thinking along that line, he remembered the time that he had acquired the driving license.

At that time, he really had the qualifications of acquiring the driving license. His driving skills were high enough, and he could fulfill whatever was expected of the holder of the Master-class DL.

But now, here was the problem. How was he supposed to learn the high school subjects?

Regardless, Michael quickly took out his phone, went online, before searching for the subjects that were studied in high school.

He found that students studied Troprazanese, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, and health.

They also took courses in the arts, music, theater, and digital media. Additional subjects included technology, applied sciences, engineering, programming, and entrepreneurship.

As for electives, they ranged across debate, philosophy, media studies, and personal finance.

Looking at the subjects, Michael was left not knowing what to do. After all, Troprazanese was something that he could read, and so was mathematics.

But for something like science, there was no skill such as science at all. Additionally, science itself had several branches, and those branches had sub branches as well.

So, how was he supposed to acquire the high school certification if he did not know how to study?

For other courses like engineering, technology, they were just too wide, making it impossible to be able to acquire such a skill. It required him to specify which area of that particular field he wanted to study.

While he was still confused, he received a notification from the system.

[The host can compile all the information regarding education, which will be compiled to form a single skill. The skill will envelope all the knowledge starting from elementary school, all the way to high school.]

Michael finally let out a deep breath of relief, as at least, the system had given him a way out.

Even though it was going to be quite troublesome to be able to arrange all the information starting from elementary school, it had to be done.

Thankfully, Adrian, Lucas and Damian did not have anything to do today. So, he quickly called them over, before informing them that they should help him in compiling all the school knowledge before college.

The three of them got to work, with each one of them dealing with a level of their own. Adrian dealt with high school, Lucas with middle school, while Damian was in charge of elementary school.

While they were compiling the information, Michael decided to rest for a while, waiting for a few hours.

About 2 hours later, the three of them had already compiled the information that was required.

And with that, Michael began reading, and a little while later, he received a prompt from the system.

[Intermediate level of Foundation Education Skill. Progress: 46%.]
