Chapter 111: Villa Number 5

A few minutes later, Michael parked the Audi A8 in the open parking space outside Crown Hotel.

The two of them then entered the hotel, before they directly headed for the 7th floor, where there were VIP private rooms.

They entered the VIP private room number 1, where they found that there was an old man that was already sitting at the table.

The moment that the two of them entered, the old man smiled brightly, as he stood up from his seat, approaching them.

The old man, seemingly in his early seventies, had neatly kept silver hair and warm brown eyes that carried a hint of authority.

He wore a light beige shirt and dark tailored trousers, with polished brown shoes, giving him an understated elegance.

Looking at him, Michael could see the unmistakable air of leadership lingering around him, something that was expected from someone who had led a prominent family like the Morgan family for several decades.

"Come in, the two of you." The old man said with a bright smile on his face, while scrutinizing Michael.

Michael felt as though the old man was trying to gauge him, as if to see if he was good enough for something, as for what it was, Michael was not sure.

"Michael, this is my grandfather, Charles Morgan. Grandpa, this is the friend that I told you about, Michael Santos." Kate made the introductions.

"Nice to meet you Mr. Charles." Michael said as he shook hands with the old man.

"Don't worry about the formalities. Come, let's sit down." The old man said enthusiastically while leading the two of them to sit around the table.

Charles sat on one side, while Kate and Michael sat on the other side, with Kate sitting beside Michael.

As soon as they sat down, a waiter came into the private room, to take the order. Since Michael had eaten not long ago, and did not like the taste of the food That was not personally cooked by himself or Adrian, he did not order anything.

He claimed that he had eaten not long ago, and would only drink a glass of juice, to cool down his body.

As for the old man, since Michael did not order anything, the old man also decided against ordering food, deciding to order some drinks, including wine.

While waiting for the drinks to be served, the old man looked at Michael and spoke with a sincere expression on his face.

"Michael, I would like to thank you for helping out my reckless granddaughter. This child, she is usually stubborn, and if not for you, she would have suffered back in Drenn city."

Listening to the old man's words, as expected, it was just as Kate had said before. The old man wanted to thank him for that.

But of course, Michael was not naive to believe that this was the reason why the old man had enthusiastically invited him over.

Otherwise, if he really was grateful, why did he not look for him before that? Since he could know what had happened in Drenn city, it should not have been impossible for him to be able to trace him.

While it was true that Michael had moved from Drenn city, just the following day after dealing with the shadow assembly gang, when he came to Brenton city, his traces could be found.

Additionally, at that time, he had not yet decided to purchase a bio human. Since Adrian was not available at that time, his information had not been hidden.

Despite what he was thinking, Michael did not show it on his face, as he waved his hand and said, "There is no need to thank me. It was all just a coincidence, as I myself had a conflict with those gangsters."

"There is no need to be humble. After all, it was because of your skills that you were able to make sure that she did not suffer any injury, or anything worse happening to her." The old man simply responded.

This left Michael not sure how to respond. Back then, he had not actively protected Kate. In fact, he did not even remember how he had helped her out.

Maybe, during the time that he was killing gangsters from a distance, those that were concentrated on dealing with Kate, some of them shifted their attention to him.

But nonetheless, looking at it, it seemed pretty clear that it was Kate who had helped him out, not the other way around.

But since the old man had said it like this, Michael decided not to try changing his words.

"It's okay." Michael responded.

"This time, I believe Kate already told you the reason why I wanted to meet with you. So, I will be straightforward.

To thank you, I have decided to give you a small present. I hope that you don't refuse." The old man stated, while pushing a file towards Michael.

Michael did not receive the file, as he pushed it back towards the old man and said, "Really, there is no need. You saying that you are thankful is already enough."

"Please, don't refuse me. It is only through this way that I can feel that you have accepted my sincerity." The old man pushed it back, insistent.

Looking at the old man's expression, it seemed that he was not willing to give in at all.

Even though Michael was not sure what it was that this file held, he knew that it would not be anything simple.

He was not willing to accept it, as by accepting it, it might end up binding him, which was something that he didn't want.

"Michael, just accept it. You don't have to worry, there are no strings attached to any gift that my grandpa gives out." Kate said as she looked at Michael.

She herself was not sure what that file contained, but even then, knowing her grandfather, it was definitely something worth it.

While Michael might not lack many things, he definitely did not have enough, to the extent that he would not take more, right?

Seeing both grandfather and granddaughter insisting, Michael could only sigh as he accepted.

He opened the file, only to realize that it was a property transfer agreement. As for what property it was, it was a villa in Riverside residential community.

This was a high-end residential community within the city. Most of the influential people within the city usually lived there.

As he went through the document, Michael realized that it was villa number 5 in the community, one of the top few villas of the community.

With his current mathematics skills, and the fact that he knew the city, some of the property prices, the location of the villa itself, he was able to estimate the price of the villa.

Most probably, the price of the villa was $2.7 million to $3 million. To Michael, this was not expensive. But, how many people could afford such a villa?

This was the reason why Michael felt that this villa, this reward being given to him by the old man, it was definitely not simple.

While it might not have any conditions linked directly on handing over the villa, the old man definitely had some other motives.

Since the old man was quite sincere, Michael decided, if the old man did not ask for something that was considered to be too much, he would help out if there was a need.

"Then, I will accept this gift." Michael said as he took the pen that was inside the file, before signing the document.

The old man had already signed, with only Michael's signature remaining for the transfer to be completed.

Kate looked over, only to realize what Michael had signed was. She had not anticipated that her grandfather would actually give such an expensive villa to Michael.

She knew about Riverside residential community. That was a place that was well known within the city, a place where the rich usually stayed.

As for this villa, it was the one that her grandpa was given by a business associate as a birthday gift.

Back then, when the old man received this gift, many people within the family asked him to give it to them. After all, the old man would not live there anyway.

But, the old man refused to give it to anyone, claiming that it held sentimental value to him. As for why that was the case, only the old man knew about it.

But now, unexpectedly, the old man had actually decided to give it to Michael. So, how could Kate not be shocked about this?

"Grandpa, this...." Kate was not sure about what to say, and could only stutter.

Charles on the other hand simply smiled after seeing Michael signing the document. He clapped and said, "Okay, don't worry, just as my granddaughter said, there are no any attachments in me handing over that villa to you."

Michael nodded, before he asked, "I believe you. But, is there anything else that you would like to talk to me about? I won't believe that this is the only reason why you asked for us to meet, right?"
