"Headshot!"
Just after pulling the trigger, the man suddenly exclaimed, his voice tinged with excitement and pride.
Being a sniper did not imply that it was easy to be able to get a headshot, especially from such a long distance. So, every time that he got a headshot, he was usually excited.
It was just that, the excitement in his heart suddenly faded, as it was replaced by confusion.
Through the scope of the sniper rifle, he could see that the target had actually received a headshot. But, why was it that the head did not explode with blood splashing everywhere?
Additionally, the bullet did not shake the target in the slightest. Instead, the target was standing in the same place, as if he had not been affected at all.
'What's going on? Could it be that I missed? But, what is with his reaction? If the window suddenly shattered next to a person, should they not react?' The man could not help but wonder to himself.
'Regardless, I better try it again.' The man thought to himself before he aimed once again, preparing to shoot.
But just before he pulled the trigger, he saw that the target was turning their head, gazing towards him.
Even though he was looking at the target through the scope, he felt as though the target was staring directly at him.
This made him feel a chill running down his spine, as he could not believe this. Was it possible that this person was capable of seeing him?
But that was absolutely impossible. After all, it was currently night time, and the place that he was hiding was in the dark.
Additionally, with the distance of over 1,000 meters, how was it possible for someone to be able to see him like that?
Despite his questions, he continued aiming, not intending to withdraw. He had not failed many times in his career as a hitman.
And now, since the target was still there, if he had missed before, then he had to go for it this time. So, he continued aiming, before he pulled the trigger once again.
Phut!
The bullet was released, and the hitman expected the target's head to explode from the shot. But unexpectedly, just as he pulled the trigger, the target also raised one of his hands.
He placed his hand in front of his head, and then clenched the hand into a fist.
This made the hitman to blink once again, not sure how to react this time. His mind was already in chaos, thinking of an explanation to the current situation.
As for his emotions, they were completely unstable, as he was experiencing a mixture of fear, disbelief, shock, and several other emotions.
'Damn it! There is something unusual. That might actually be a holographic projection, used to fool me. It seems that someone relayed my information to the target, making them anticipate my move!'
That was the only explanation that the hitman could come up with. After all, it was impossible for him to believe that he could shoot someone with a sniper rifle, and they would not die.
That was a specially considering that one of the bullets was a headshot, and the other one hit a hand that was just in front of the head.
So, thinking that there was a possibility that someone had betrayed him, he immediately decided to abandon the mission.
There was no need for him to risk this. After all, the pay wasn't high enough, and he had only taken the mission because he was here, and he thought that the mission was quite simple to deal with.
But unexpectedly, the target turned out to be much more tough than expected. It was clear, the pay did not match the target.
Since that was the case, there was no need for him to continue risking his life here for nothing. So, he decisively decided to leave.
Quickly, he packed everything, before he got up, turning around to leave. But as soon as he turned around, his entire body froze.
That was because, standing behind him was a man wearing a butler uniform, staring at him.
Beads of sweat began appearing on the hitman's forehead, as he was not sure how to react in this situation.
Being an experienced sniper, he obviously paid attention to his surroundings during the time that he was dealing with the target.
But, this time, he did not even notice when this guy had popped up behind him. So, he was tremendously shocked to find that there was someone that was observing him, and he had not noticed their arrival.
Still, being a veteran, it was not the first time that he had ended up dealing with someone who saw him. So, he quickly took out a military grade dagger, before he attacked.
But just as he began the motion of swinging his hand to stab the target, his vision suddenly blurred, before he fell on the ground, unconscious.
....
Crash!
As soon as the glass of the window shattered, Michael felt something hitting his head.
Ting! Ting!
And in the next moment, the sound of a metallic item dropping on the ground was heard.
Michael gazed down, seeing that it was actually a bullet. This made him to frown slightly.
At the same time, he gazed into the distance, where he could faintly see that there was a person with a sniper rifle aiming at him.
Despite this person being in a dark place, and quite a distance away, Michael was able to see him. After all, his visual sense had been enhanced after he had taken the evolution serum.
'A hitman? It seems that someone has already said their eyes on me.' Michael thought to himself while narrowing his eyes.
At the same time, he felt that he was pretty lucky, considering that he had only purchased the ADLA a few hours ago, and it was very useful.
Apart from a slight pain, which came from the initial contact of the bullet with his head, there was nothing else that he felt.
While gazing into the distance, he heard the sound of movements within the villa. Without a doubt, someone had gone to deal with the issue.
At the same time, Michael noticed that it seemed that the hitman was not intending to give up. Instead, he was actually trying to shoot again.
Michael decided to try something new this time. So, before the bullet was released from the gun's muzzle, he raced his arm, with his hand in front of his forehead.
And the moment that he felt something coming into contact with his palm, he immediately folded his fingers, enclosing the item inside.
And as he did so, he felt something revolving inside his hand, but it did not continue for long, before it completely stopped.
As he opened his palm to see what was inside, he saw that there was a bullet. It was just that, the head of the bullet had already been flattened, with the sides having some depression.
Amazing!
It was only at this point that Michael began experiencing the true power of the armor that he had bought.
To be able to stop a sniper rifle bullet, it was indeed extraordinary. And apart from the slight pain that came from the initial contact of the bullet with his body, there was nothing much.
After observing the bullet for a while, Michael focused his gaze on the direction where the hitman was before.
But when he looked over, he realized that the hitman had already disappeared. Though, Michael was not worried, as he turned around, and headed for the living room.
As soon as he entered the living room, Adrian also came in from outside the villa. He was carrying in one hand a person, who was obviously unconscious or dead.
Michael immediately recognized the one that had been brought in by Adrian, being the hitman. But the way that Adrian was carrying him, it was almost comparable to an adult caring a baby's doll.
He made it seem as though he was not carrying any weight at all.
"Forgive me for my negligence. I failed to take care of the threat on time." Adrian admitted while bowing slightly.
"There is no need to tense up. But, it seems that the security here will need to be improved next time. After all, I don't want to end up being shot again." Michael waved his hand as he responded
While the bullets were currently harmless to him, that did not imply that he was willing to just become a living target to some snipers.
"I understand. I will make sure of that." Adrian quickly responded.
Then, he placed the hitman that he had brought down. He then asked, "Should I take him to the basement?"
This villa had a basement, which was a place that he had not visited when he came to visit with Kate.
The basement acted mainly as a storage, and it actually had an underground parking space.
"Sure. And, interrogate him, as I need to understand who it is that sent him." Michael nodded.
"Understood." Adrian nodded before he carried the hitman to the basement.
Michael followed behind, and observed as Adrian placed the hitman on a chair, before tying him up with several ropes, to prevent him from escaping.
After that, he took a basin of cold water, before splashing it on the hitman, startling him awake.
