Adrian went to open the door, and Michael saw him returning with Kate.

Kate's blonde hair fell in soft waves around her shoulders, brushing lightly against the straps of her light summer top. Her brown eyes curiously swept over the room, and her slender, athletic figure was framed by denim shorts and sneakers, with a small backpack resting against her back.

"Not much changes. Don't you have your own taste of the appearance of the villa? I thought that since you moved in, you would change the outlook of the villa." Kate suddenly said as she approached Michael.

"What is the use? Anyway, the way that the villa looks like, it is not like it can affect me. Additionally, I already like the way that the villa is. So, there is no need to change anything." Michael casually responded.

Kate thought it was reasonable, and did not comment further. Instead, she went and sat beside Michael on the couch.

"Been busy lately?" Michael asked.

Since the two of them met, Kate occasionally came to visit. But during this week, she had come over less frequently.

Michael understood that she had already been hooked by the food that Adrian prepared. So, when there was a chance, she usually came over to freeload on the meal.

"Yeah. Due to the incident related to the Kingsley family and the former police chief, there was a lot of work to be done. This issue had attracted the attention of the higher ups, especially the headquarters.

So, there was a lot to take care of, which did not give me much of a chance to pay a visit and enjoy the meal here." Kate responded as she thought about what had happened back then.

Luckily, things had calmed down for the past 2 days. That way, at least she relaxed. But, she still felt that her body was kind of sore, and thought that she could relax.

She had already told her friend about her mother's suggestion. Her friend suggested that she should follow what her mother had told her.

If not for the incredibly busy schedule, she would have already come to visit Michael long ago.

And the previous day, have friend suggested that they should go to an amusement park. That way, they could both relax and enjoy themselves, which would be quite good at bonding.

So, most probably, they would hide that issue, and continuously claim that they would take care of it. At the same time, they might try investigating the identity of the person who would have sent the evidence to them, to deal with them.

After all, since I could easily get the information on the former police chief, why not them? So, they might be afraid that I could expose their secrets, and, the best choice for them is to eliminate me."

Kate thought about it, realizing that it made sense. Even though she did not want to admit it, she knew that many people above her were corrupt.

There was almost no department that did not have corruption. It did not necessarily have to be something big, but even the slightest favoritism was already considered unethical for the work environment, especially if it affected the others in the same field, negatively.

"What about this? Since I have never toured the city, why don't we take this chance for you to show me around?" Michael thought for a moment before he suggested.
