Chapter 159: Genuine Feelings

The Honda Gold Wing was quite heavy, about 365 kgs, so, its acceleration was usually steady, instead of explosive. Its design favored cruising, stability, and carrying passengers and luggage over extreme speed.

But Michael did not mind this fact, considering that he was not out for a race. Instead, he was just going to tour the city, which did not need him to move at high speeds.

After leaving the community, Kate asked Michael to stop for a moment. Even though he was puzzled by why she wanted them to stop, he still did so.

"Let's put on the helmet. I am a police officer, and it will be kind of embarrassing if we end up being arrested by the traffic police because We don't have helmets." Kate stated as she actively took a helmet and put it on.

Michael nodded, before he also put on a helmet. Initially, he did not intend to do that, thinking that, since he was going to go at low speeds, there was no need for that.

And in actual sense, due to his current physique, there was no need for the helmet. After all, not to mention the fact that his physique was already above what a human could possibly have, there was also the ADLA.

With that, he would not be easily injured. But, because this was a traffic rule, he had no other choice but to put it on.

After wearing the helmets, Michael once again rode the bike, with Kate pointing the direction. At times, she would explain where they were, and what was the main feature of that area.

The names of the streets, she was quite familiar with most of them, at least those around Riverside residential community. But after they left that area, she seemed to be just as clueless as Michael was.

Michael had already expected this. After all, ever since Kate was young, she was so much dedicated in training. It was not just her combat skills, but also case solving knowledge, apart from attending school.

She started school at the age of 5, and finished high school education at the age of 17.

Then, instead of college, she joined the city's Police Cadet Elite Track, a rare program for exceptional candidates. By 18, she had completed the rigorous training and was fully certified, and was posted in Drenn city, due to her request.

Due to all these, she had not really become very much familiar with most parts of the city. As for the area that she was patrolling, it was not where they had gone to.

So, simply put, at the moment, they were just blindly riding around the city. But none of them really cared about that, as they enjoyed the feeling of moving around the city this way.

Kate on the other hand felt some complicated emotions. For a moment, she really wasn't sure how to describe how she was feeling.

Sitting behind Michael, looking at his broad back, she felt different. This was after all the first time that she was going around with someone, without a goal in mind.

When she was little, she had only ever gone out with her father once. And that was inside his car. But this was the first time that she was riding on a motorbike, just to venture around.

As she observed Michael's back, her heart suddenly began racing. Several thoughts appeared in her mind, as she suddenly had the impulse of putting her arms around Michael's waist.

But she was able to stop herself, as a faint blush appeared on her cheeks. At the same time, she could not help but criticize herself internally.

Still, she had noticed something. She could tell that she was actually falling for Michael.

Previously, with few interactions between them, she was sure that she just admired him. But now, she understood, it was not just the admiration that she had for him due to the skills that he possessed.

And, neither was this from the push that she was receiving from her family about the engagement. Instead, this was a genuine feeling, towards someone of the opposite sex.

She had seen and heard of several people who were amazing, with several of them being of the male gender. But, she had never felt this way around them.

Even at the station, several male police officers showed interest in her, and some had even asked her out. But, he usually felt repulsed towards them.

But towards Michael, she felt some kind of attraction towards him. It was kind of irresistible, and as she continued looking at him, she just felt this feeling growing stronger.

Without hesitation, she averted her gaze from looking at Michael, looking at the buildings on the side of the street. It was only then that this feeling disappeared.

'Does he have some kind of charm skill like in those movies that I watched when I was young?' Cate wondered to herself.

Just to be sure, she looked at Michael again. At first, everything was normal. But as she kept gazing at him, this sense of attraction appeared once again.

It was not that her mind was being confused, something that Kate noticed. It was just that, she felt that Michael was getting more attractive, to the extent that she wanted to get closer to him.

She could not describe this feeling that she was getting that was pulling her towards him. But even then, she understood, Michael was not simple.

Of course, what she did not know was that, this was the passive effect of the mutation that had happened after Michael took the evolution serum.

Most of the times, when someone looked at him, nothing would happen. But if someone stared at him for an extended duration, they would feel like there was something extraordinary about him.

This was not something that was sexually attractive, but instead, it was just the general attractiveness that someone would have towards something extraordinary.

Michael was completely clueless about what was happening behind him, as he just focused on riding. They continued moving around, occasionally talking to each other.

And at some point, Michael felt that the way that Kate was speaking to him seemed to be quite unusual. Initially, he wasn't sure about how she was, but he could tell something through the human insight skill that he possessed.

If it was before he acquired this skill, he might not have been able to tell. But with this skill being at the expert level, he was very good at reading people.

At this moment, he could easily tell that Kate was attracted with him, romantically. That was something that surprised him. After all, from the start, he usually thought that she only wanted to get together with him because she wanted to avoid the engagement.

That was why he helped her out. By convincing Charles, he believed that she would no longer have to get engaged to the partner that the family had arranged for her.

But, it turned out that her feelings towards him were actually genuine?

It was just that, Michael was not really sure about his own feelings towards Kate. It might be true that he had the human insight skill, which allowed him to be able to read the people around him, he could not actively read himself.

It was almost the same situation where a doctor would treat a patient, but after getting sick themselves, they would go to look for another doctor to get a prescription.

Still, one thing that Michael was sure about was that, he really wasn't averse towards being in a relationship with Kate. That was especially when he realized that she actually liked him.

Nevertheless, Michael was able to continue the conversation between the two of them, without giving anything away. The conversation between the two of them was awkward for quite a while, and Michael noticed that this was not going to change for some time.

Additionally, he noticed that the temperatures had already began rising. Unknowingly, they had been moving around for almost 2 hours.

"Should we stop somewhere first?" Michael asked. Considering that the bike was not moving at a high speed and they were not on a busy, it was not that hard for Kate to hear what he was saying.

"Okay. I'm kind of feeling suffocated in this helmet. If I can get something cold, that would be great." Kate replied.

In actual sense, she just felt that she needed a break. It was not just from the heat that was continuously rising due to the sun that had already risen above them, but to calm her emotions as well.

"Sure." Michael nodded, before he finally stopped the bike outside a coffee shop.

After parking the bike in the designated motorcycle parking spot, the two of them got inside the coffee shop. They chose a table beside a window.

Kate felt her body relaxing slightly, as the temperatures inside the coffee shop were way lower as compared to outside.

As for Michael, he was not really bothered by the temperatures. At least, while this temperature was high to many people, to him, it was no different from normal room temperature.

"Just order some cold drinks. I'm going to use the washroom for a little bit." Kate said as she stood up from her seat.
