Chapter 176: Amazing the Room

At Dalton's words, the entire room erupted into another round of laughter. Dalton was someone who was usually straightforward. It was quite rare for him to make such a joke.

Michael, who was laughing alongside others, felt that this was definitely quite a good way of relaxing his mind. If these guys could bring entertainment like this, he wouldn't mind.

At the same time, he was curious. Just how bad was Raymond at singing, that this entire group did not want him to even try holding the mic?

"Is he that bad?" Michael asked the person sitting next to him.

"Exactly. It is not that we are picking on him. It is just that, his singing is just too bad. Not to mention that he doesn't know how to tune his voice, he is always out of key with the instrumentals." The guy explained as he nodded.

This left Michael's speechless. Most of the time, it was quite easy to find someone who could not tune their voice well, but even then, they could at least stay within the key for a while, even if they occasionally went out of it.

But from this description, it seemed that Raymond was always out of tune and out of key. Michael could not imagine himself listening to such a song.

Raymond on the other hand was frustrated. He really wanted to prove himself, but from the gaze that he was receiving from Dalton, it was clear that he was not going to be given the chance to do that.

Despite his frustrations, Raymond could only go back and sit down. To vent his anger, he downed an entire glass of red wine.

But he was not satisfied. So, he took an entire bottle, before he began drinking it.

"Alright, someone with an actual relationship with the melody, step up." Alex said, completely ignoring Raymond's glare.

This made the group laugh again. But even then, one of them stepped forward, before he began singing.

To Michael, whose singing skills had already reached the expert level, this guy was practically ruining the song. He was sure that if the artist of the song came here, they might end up suing this guy for this.

But looking at the way that the others in the room were reacting, it seemed that they were not that much disappointed. Then, this made him wonder, just how bad was Raymond really?

The singing expert level skill was something that he had acquired in the past 7 days…

After this guy sang, one by one, the others went up, and sang the favorite songs that they had prepared in advance.

Alex also went up, and, just like the others, his skill wasn't good. But still, he was not at the bottom of the group, but was not among the best either.

Surprisingly, one of the best singers was actually Dalton. This guy, he selected a song that practically matched his voice and personality.

Michael thought that if this guy could be turned into a star, as long as songs that matched his personality were given to him, he would definitely be able to make a name for himself in the music industry.

Soon, everyone in the room had sang, apart from Michael. So, as soon as the final person sang, everyone gazed at Michael, obviously waiting for him to go up and sing.

But to this, Michael shook his head as he said, "I am not really familiar with most of these songs. And, since I was young, I wasn't really much of a fan of music."

This wasn't a lie. To him, back then, during the time that his parents were alive, he really wasn't that much interested in music. So, he wasn't familiar with most of the songs.

For that reason, it was impossible for him to be able to sing for them. That was of course unless they wanted him to sing an original.

"How is that even possible? I don't believe it. You just go ahead and sing whatever you can. We don't mind." Alex refused to believe as he tried to shove Michael towards the stage.

Of course, despite his effort, Michael did not budge in the slightest. It was almost comical, to see Alex straining to push Michael, as though he was pushing a wall.

To most of the people around here, they thought that Alex was just joking. But to Alex, who had unknowingly began using his full strength, he was left dumbfounded.

At the same time, he could not help but wonder, just what was Michael's body made of? He was putting all this effort, but he was not able to push this guy?

"Come on. Everyone of us here has already sang for everyone. I sang last time. Why don't you do it as well? We promise, we won't laugh at you." Raymond spoke up.

From the way that Michael was acting, Raymond thought that Michael was bad. So, he thought, as long as Michael was worse than himself at singing, then, he would at least be allowed to take the stage and sing, right?

So, he also joined Alex in trying to push Michael towards the stage. But unfortunately, they could not even get him out of his seat.

This was something that made the people around raise their brows slightly. At the same time, they wondered, what kind of game were Alex and Raymond playing?

And, looking at their faces, it seemed that they were actually straining?

Dalton looked on from the side before he commented, "You guys, you can definitely make good actors. Why don't you join the industry? I'm sure that quite a number of extras roles are lacking people to take them on."

"Huu!" As he released a deep breath, Alex glared at Dalton. Then, he looked at Michael with puzzlement in his eyes as he asked, "Is your body made of steel?"

To this question, Michael simply shrugged without responding. Instead, he thought, since they wanted him to sing, then he would do so.

Additionally, they said that they did not mind him singing a song that they were not familiar with. Since that was the case, he immediately thought that he would sing an original on the spot.

With expert level songwriting skills, it was quite easy for him to be able to create a song. So, he got up, and went to the stage.

Since he had not yet prepared an instrumental for the song, he just randomly found an instrumental and listened to it from the beginning to the end.

After that, he closed his eyes for a few seconds, as he arranged the lines that he had planned.

Michael's actions left everyone in the VIP room dumbfounded. They were wondering, what was Michael playing at?

Was it true that he did not know how to sing? But, he should at least try, right? What was the need of him just listening to the instrumental and then going silent?

But just as they were puzzled at this, Michael began playing the instrumental once again. And, in the next moment, his voice resounded from the speakers.

I see your face in every crowd

Your laugh echoes, soft but loud

Night falls slow, the room feels cold

I reach for you, but hands hold… nothing

The city sleeps, but I stay awake

Counting the steps I can't retake

Your name lingers on my tongue

A song unsung, a heart undone

Every streetlight whispers you

Every shadow knows it's true

I close my eyes, you're all I find

A missing piece inside my mind...

The low murmurs that had already started within the room suddenly went silent. The eyes of everyone within their room widened as they looked at Michael who was on the stage, singing.

None of them had ever thought that Michael was actually this good at singing. And, listening to this song that he was singing, none of them had ever heard it before.

It was just that, since all of them were enthralled by the music, none of them really thought much about this. Instead, they subconsciously begun moving their bodies along with the beats of the music.

Even though this was the first time that they were listening to this music, they felt enchanted by the music. Additionally, Michael's voice was so captivating, especially to the ladies.

Even after Michael finished singing, there was quite an extended duration of silence. It was only when Michael cleared his throat slightly that finally, the room regained its life.

"That's crazy! And you claimed that you didn't know how to sing?"

"A master! Are you sure that you are not some popular singer, here pretending to be some little nobody?"

"I almost embarrassed myself. I wanted to claim that I was better than him in this? Unfortunately, it seems that there is not even a single field that I am better than him."

Listening to the exclamations, Michael wasn't surprised. After all, with expert level songwriting skills and singing skills, this was to be expected.

But for a while, he felt that these guys were exaggerating things. So, he decided not to allow them to continue commenting.

"Okay, that's enough." Michael spoke, finally making the group to stop relentlessly speaking about the song that he had just sang.

As Michael went back to his seat, Alex, who was sitting beside him, continuously gazed at him. The same was for Raymond, who had a small smile on his lips.

"What? Is there something on my face?" Michael asked as he subconsciously touched his face.

"Tell me honestly. Are you already missing my cousin? It has only been a week, you know?" Raymond suddenly asked, leaving Michael dumbfounded.
