"A business?" The old man was flabbergasted by Michael's sudden question.
In actual sense, he had not thought about this at all.
Initially, he had thought, despite him being old, maybe he could find something that he could do, in order to get some money.
This way, they could at least relieve some of the burdens that were on Michael.
During all this while, he had not even thought about starting a business. After all, in a big city like this, starting a business was not that easy.
It not only required a huge amount of capital, but it also required familiarity with the city itself.
In a situation where they recklessly started a business, they might end up wasting all the money that they would have invested, if they had any that was.
But now, with Michael asking him about what business he might be able to run, the old man was not able to answer for quite a while.
He remained silent for a while, before he said, "Kid, we don't want to burden you anymore.
You have already saved our lives by taking us from Drenn city, and even finding a place that we can live.
Starting a good business in this city is not going to be that easy. And, the capital required is definitely going to be huge.
Considering your current balance, I believe that it would be best if you could use that money for something else.
You have already spent enough on us. Let us start moving around, trying to find solutions to our current problems. We cannot continue burdening you like this."
Michael had already anticipated such a response from the old man. So, he responded, "You don't need to worry about this. In actual sense, the money that I showed you, it is what I have received after selling part of the virtual currencies.
So far, I have only cashed in on half of the virtual currency that I own. After I start this business for you, making sure that at least there is something that can give you some money, I will go and do something else."
While Michael was not telling the truth, in actual sense, he might as well refer to the SP as the virtual currency.
In any case, it was not as though he could see the SP. Additionally, the SP could be 'sold' to the system, in order to exchange for cash.
Since that was the case, what he was saying was actually true, despite him lying about the figures. The amount that he had converted was very small as compared to what he had.
The old man gazed at Michael deeply, and in the end, he let out a helpless sigh.
During the time that he had known Michael, he knew him as someone who usually never lied.
Well, at least, he had never lied on something like this. Something as crucial like this, he would usually not joke around with it.
"Okay then. Since that is the case, then you can just start the business, and we will help you in managing it.
Take it as though you have employed us, and you will be paying us at the end of the month. What do you think?" John replied after a moment of thought.
Realizing that it would be impossible to convince the old man otherwise, Michael agreed.
In any case, he was going to be the employer, and he would be the one who would decide on the amount of salary to be received by the employees.
Still, there was one thing that he needed to make clear first.
Looking at the old man, Michael said, "But you should know, I really don't know anything about managing a business. So, I will leave everything to you. All the decisions related to the business will be made by you."
John wanted to refuse, but in the end, he agreed. After all, Michael was quite young, and there was a possibility that he really did not have the ability of managing a business.
Well, he might as well take it as though he was employed as the manager of the business.
"So, what kind of business would you like?" Michael asked, after seeing the old man nodding.
"Well, something like a small restaurant, or a convenience store would be quite good. After all, this is a school district, and it is bound to have a lot of traffic." John responded after thinking for a short while.
Michael did not need to think much about it, as he realized that what John had said was actually true.
"Okay then. I will make arrangements for the business. I think the business will be ready in 2 days. At that time, I'm pretty sure that you would have all settled." Michael stated.
In actual sense, he could have gotten everything done at that exact moment. After all, all that he needed to do was to just make a purchase in the system store.
That way, the system would be able to complete all the documentation processes at the same time. He would then be able to have the business under his name in just a few seconds.
But, would the old man not be curious about how Michael had been able to complete all this in a short while?
Additionally, Michael had clearly stated that this was the first time that he was visiting this city.
So, was he not supposed to be going around, to survey the area, to see where he could find a business or an area where he could start one of his own?
"Alright. Then, let's go looking around tomorrow after we have settled everyone here. If there is a business that is ready, and is up for sale, it will be quite good. At least, most of the processes would have been completed for us." John said.
"No need to worry about that. I should be able to do it, I have the confidence. There is no need for you to bother yourself with this." Michael quickly refused.
The old man raised his brows slightly as he looked at Michael. But seeing the confidence on Michael's face, he decided to agree.
Now that the discussion between the two of them had come to an end, the two of them left the apartment, finding the agent waiting outside.
"I hope that you are satisfied with the apartments." The agent stated, a polite smile on his face.
"Yeah, they are good." Michael responded casually.
"Since that is the case, then I will leave you guys. In case of anything, just make a call, and we will respond immediately." The agent stated, his smile becoming brighter.
The agent realized that Michael was a big client. With the ability of paying the rent for an entire year all at once, not many could do that.
For the commercial buildings and so on, it was normal. But for residential buildings such as apartments, it was not that easy to find someone who could pay the rent for an entire year.
If they could have Michael rent yet another set of apartments, how good would that be? Additionally, just what amount of commission would he receive?
After the agent left, Michael and the old man both went to the market, looking for the furniture and the other things in order to set up the apartments.
Since they wanted to move in the following day, everything had to be prepared on this exact day.
He hired an interior coordinator, to help out with the arrangement of the apartments.
To make it easy, Michael decided to hire a few people to help out. Michael ended up hiring 35 people to help out with this, to make sure that the preparations were completed on the same day.
For the next period, it was quite a busy time for both Michael and the old man.
In reality, it was not that easy to be able to complete everything on the same day.
After all, furnishing the five apartments was something that would require a lot of time.
The time for furniture and other materials to be purchased, with the delivery time included, it was a lot of time-consuming work.
But, since Michael was determined, he had no other choice but to spend extra cash, to make sure that everything was taken care of as fast as possible.
With the money as motivation, the 35 laborers that he had hired were working as if their lives depended on it.
Michael, with his incredible strength, he was able to help in many situations, which saved quite a considerable amount of time.
And of course, the strength that he demonstrated shocked everyone.
Michael was quite young, even just by looking at his appearance. So, for him to be able to possess so much strength, it was so shocking, especially to the laborers, who were used to doing hard labor.
They, who had been doing hard labor for several years, could actually not compare in terms of strength to such a young man? It was quite embarrassing to some of them, but still, they were even more motivated, and they finally managed to finish the job.
By the time that everything was done, it was already 10 p.m.. In between, Michael and the others had taken occasional breaks in order to fill their stomachs and recover the energy.
"Hey, how much did you spend on all this work?" John asked as soon as everyone else had departed from the apartments.
