Raymond held his line, determined to make it difficult for Michael. But the effort was pointless.
Even when he faced several people who tried to block him, Michael was still able to get past them. So, how could Raymond, a single person, be able to block him?
Michael's Regera curved around him with almost casual grace, leaving Raymond muttering in disbelief as he dropped to the third position.
Even though he had been overtaken, Raymond was still unconvinced. He continued accelerating, waiting to seize an opportunity in order to overtake Michael.
But, this was going to prove impossible, considering that as they continued moving forward, Raymond realized that the gap between the two of them was only growing.
And when he saw how easily Michael was able to get past those corners, he was left dumbfounded.
For a moment, he was almost tempted to try doing the same as Michael, but in the end, he was able to restrain himself.
He understood, when it came to racing, he was definitely no match for Michael. If he tried something like this, and ended up failing, the consequences would be fatal.
Even though he was reluctant, he might as well settle for the third position. If there was anyone that he might have a chance of overtaking, that was Alex.
But at the moment, Alex was holding a big advantage over him. It would not be that easy for him to be able to overtake him.
Even though currently, Michael was only in the second place, Raymond believed that it was only a matter of time before he took the first place.
So, he might as well fight for the second position, to avoid unnecessary embarrassment.
By now, only Alex remained ahead of Michael. He drove with intensity, pushing his P1 harder than he ever had in the previous competitions.
He was trying to prove his skills to Michael. Even though Michael had already defeated him before, he thought, maybe there was a possibility of him defeating Michael.
Previously, when he had not seen Michael's car, he was also surprised. He wondered, could it be that there was a problem with Michael's car?
But then again, he thought that it was impossible. After all, that car was new, and it seemed that Michael had not driven it for long.
So how was it possible for it to have a mechanical problem, just before the race? And during the time that they were racing, it seemed to be in a good condition.
While he was still clueless about what had happened to Michael, he noticed that Michael was already behind them.
Looking at the way that he was effortlessly overtaking others, he thought, as expected, this guy's skills were top notch.
At the same time, he thought of a possibility. That was, Michael had given them an advantage. He allowed them to gain some distance, before he began chasing after them.
And from the fact that he had already caught up to them, it was clear, his skills were on a completely different level.
The spectators were on their feet, watching the race, fully focused. As Michael drew closer to Alex, they began discussing once again.
"Sh*t! That kid, he is amazing!"
"I'm wondering, can he offer me some driving lessons? If I can get just about a quarter of his skills, I should be able to dominate this competition, as long as he is not present."
"Dream on. He might be willing to pass the skills to you, but are you sure that you will be able to try them out?"
"Yeah, that's right. Those maneuvers, even if he tells you the tricks on how to do them, you will need to try them out. Who can risk their lives to try something like that?"
On the tracks, Alex clenched the wheel, breathing deeply, trying to maintain his composure. Even though he understood that he would eventually be overtaken, he wanted to lead for a little while longer.
Yet Michael caught up sooner than he expected, without the slightest sign of effort. Just like how he had demonstrated during their previous race to the Motorsports Park, Michael was able to easily take on the bends, even the most complicated ones.
It seemed, to Michael, there was not much difference between the bends and the straights. He was always driving at full speed, apart from drifting a few times at the corners.
In a clean, unhurried motion, Michael went past Alex and took the lead, the wind smoothing over the car like it welcomed him there.
And as soon as he took the lead, it was impossible for any other person to be able to take it from him.
This time, Michael did not hold back by much. Instead, he just drove forward, increasing the gap between himself and the others.
During the last lap, he had already gone ahead of everyone by at least one lap, and was already beginning to overtake the last two cars, which were just about to start the 8th lap, while he was finishing the race.
Michael crossed the finish line with the same calm expression he had at the start, no tension, no excitement. To him, there was nothing to celebrate about.
After all, this was almost considered as bullying. Why would an adult celebrate after winning a fight against a 1-year-old?
The crowd erupted, astonished by how easily he had dismantled the entire lineup from the back. By now, in the hearts of everyone who had watched the race, they all admitted Michael's skills.
"He has broken the record! Even during the main events, none of those professional racers has ever been able to complete 10 laps within just slightly over 10 minutes!"
"This guy, did he begin driving cars in his mother's womb? Otherwise, how is he this skilled?"
"Is this what a prodigy looks like? This guy, if he wants, he can take the gold medal if he participates in the official competitions."
For the entire race, Michael was able to complete the 10 laps in just 12 minutes and 43 seconds. One had to know, about 20 seconds of this had been wasted by Michael as he waited for the others to take the lead.
So, if he had started like the others, he would have been able to complete the race in just about 12 minutes and 23 seconds.
As for the record, it was previously at 14 minutes, 58 seconds. And, this was a record made by a professional racer they had previously invited.
While the crowd was still exclaiming, Alex, who had managed to maintain his second place throughout the race, after being overtaken by Michael, finally finished the race.
Alex arrived over 3 minutes later, breathing hard. Raymond followed just about 6 seconds later, steady but clearly shaken by the difference in skill. Dalton rolled in afterward, 16 seconds after Alex, impressed despite himself.
As soon as Alex completed the race, he headed towards Michael. He just found it difficult to believe that there was such a huge gap between himself and Michael.
Previously, because Michael had been maintaining a gap of about 200 meters between them, Alex had not thought much about it.
But now, Michael had overtaken him two times. The first time being to take the first position, and the second time was during the final laps.
If not for the fact that Michael had completed the 10th lap, he would have been able to overtake him once again. After all, he was already closing in.
"Michael, just how did you train? Those skills, I have rarely seen them in real life, even among the professional drivers.
In fact, some skills, I doubt even most of the professional drivers can do them." Alex exclaimed as he got out of his car, approaching Michael who was leaning on the hood of his Koenigsegg Regera.
"If I told you the truth, you would not believe it." Michael simply shrugged as he responded.
After all, would Alex believe that Michael was able to acquire the skills in less than a month? Additionally, it was not from him training, but instead, it was just from reading and watching videos.
And in fact, if not for him taking too much time to read and watch videos on the other types of vehicles, he might have been able to acquire the racing skills at a shorter time.
"Just tell me. How hard is it to believe? Don't tell me that some alien suddenly popped up, and granted you the skills, implanting them directly into your mind? If that is what you want to say, I definitely won't believe it." Alex stated as he gazed at Michael.
Michael on the other hand felt his heart skip a beat. This guy, he had almost guessed it right.
To Michael, the system was something alien. He did not know about its origin, but it definitely was not from this world.
And just as Alex said, the system had truly implanted the skills into his mind, after he read.
"Well, you guessed right." Michael responded, forcing a smile on his face.
Upon hearing Michael's response, Alex simply shook his head as he lightly punched Michael on the shoulder.
At the same time, he said, "Okay then. If you don't want to reveal it, then don't do it. It seems that you like being mysterious, I will allow you to be that, and won't poke my nose into your business."
Michael felt relieved. He felt, if he had given another explanation, there might be some loopholes. But, if he said this, it was impossible for Alex to believe.
And as he had expected, Alex thought that Michael did not want to tell him the truth. Since that was the case, it worked just perfectly for him.
At this time, several of those who had been watching the race from the spectator stands approached them.
Seeing the crowd approaching, Michael looked at Alex and said, "I got to go. I still have some things that I need to take care of. I will contact you about the car. And, if you ever find a good racer, let me know. You know, it is quite lonely at the top."
