Megabase 023.

By 7pm, the 3 leaders of Leviathan Quay once again convened inside a familiar war room in the dome structure of the megabase.

Tonight, the war room seemed even more solemn and oppressive.

Static electricity seemed to crackle in the air as the 2 Majors glared at each other in the presence of the Colonel who sat across them.

The bald Major with thick brown beard and mustache looked like a Mountain where he sat as he glared down at Major Roshfield beside him.

The black eye patch on his left eye gave him an air of mystery, but his monstrous silvery gray right eye were narrowed like a prowling predator. His ADE was just one barrier away from violently erupting.

Like usual, he wore black pants and a thick furry beastly jacket with no innerwear, leaving his mountainous physique and thick abs exposed.

Beside him, Major Roshfield wore a neat black business suit but the atmosphere around her was equally as oppressive as she glared at Agakin.

Major Agakin broke the silence first as he sneered. "Roshfield, what exactly are you doing? The city has turned into a f*cking zoo!" He accused.

"Oh, cut me the bullshit Agakin," she wasn't having it today as she glared at him. "What have you been doing? Unlike you, I've actually been actively taking steps to mobilize soldiers and protect the city".

"You, what have you been doing apart from being a f*cking racist?"

Agakin's eyes narrowed. "What did you just say?"

"I said you're a f*cking racist!" Roshfield spat back at him, then she sneered. "You think I haven't seen the secret videos? You think I haven't seen you surrendering to your sadistic tendencies and torturing Synths?"

"The Colonel's orders were clear, don't be violent, but what did you do? Your stupid racist dogsh*t mindset still made you arrest Synths all across the city, torturing them, and all for what? Nothing, absolutely nothing!"

"If I didn't know better, I would have believed that you already betrayed the army and are now siding with the terrorists".

Major Agakin's right eye twitched. "What did you just say?"

Roshfield glared right back at him. "You heard what I said, you think I'm f*cking scared of you?"

Hearing that, Major Agakin's right eye twitched even more furiously.

He took a deep breath and exhaled through his nose before closing his eyes as he leaned his head to the side, gently massaging his neck, then…

BZZZ!

Violent orange ADE suddenly flared around the 8-feet tall Major as he abruptly stood up with his right hand pouncing towards Major Roshfield's neck to grab her, but Roshfield wasn't caught off-guard.

BZZZ!

Her ADE also erupted violently, clashing against Agakin's.

When both similar but differing ADE clashed, it caused a violent sonic boom that was muffled by the reinforced walls of this war room.

Major Roshfield shot to her feet, glaring right back at Agakin.

Just before Agakin's thick arm could wrap around her neck, she managed to grab his hand, stopping his attack with raw strength with her left hand.

And now, her left hand morphed.

The density of her ADE started rising as her left hand from the elbow down morphed, growing Avian scales even as her fingers elongated, morphing into thick, long, and extremely sharp claws.

Her left hand seemed to turn into the talon of an Avian predator!

And as she grabbed Agakin's right hand, the raw power in her grip slowly overpowered him, tightening around his wrist and compressing it as his bones made crackling sounds.

Hearing the crackling sounds, Agakin looked down at his right hand with an impassive look on his face, then he snorted.

BOOM!

His ADE density also skyrocketed!

Unlike Major Roshfield who simply mutated a part of her hand, Major Agakin directly mutated from a regular Geneform, becoming a Beast!

Thick gray hair sprouted out of his body like thick grass in a forest.

His muscles bulged, his back slightly hunched, his height ballooning to over 15 feet tall as Major Agakin became a massive Bear.

Beside him, Major Roshfield suddenly looked like a dwarf. And with this change, her tight grip loosened.

Major Agakin turned the tides with raw power as with his now thick hairy Bear arms, he twisted her left hand, gripping her in return as her bones now became the ones making crackling sounds.

Seeing this, Major Roshfield didn't back down as her eyes ignited with her orange ADE, making the atmosphere instantly become charged up, then…

"That's enough". A calm aged voice said, but this time both Majors were too riled up to listen to it.

Both Majors were ready to fight!

Seeing this, the old Colonel's eyes narrowed. His scanty gray hair seemed to stand up slightly as for the first time in decades, his visage twisted into that of annoyance.

"I said that's enough". He repeated, yet they didn't listen.

Then Colonel Bam-Bam snorted and let out his ADE.

KABOOM!

The war room shook, cracks snaking through the reinforced floor even as the walls of the room became dented and also showed cracks!

Major Roshfield and Major Agakin staggered from the force of this eruption, and finally they came back to their senses as they both stared at the Colonel.

The era in which the Colonel was active was long gone.

These days, he mostly acted as the overseeing supervisor of Leviathan Quay without going to the field so despite the fact that both Majors have heard rumors of his strength, since being transferred to Leviathan Quay they've never seen him display his might, till tonight.

Colonel Bam-Bam was still seated but feeling the sheer density of the orange ADE swirling around his body, still putting pressure in his surroundings and the cold look in his eyes like a hungry Tiger ready to hunt, both Majors shuddered.

Instantly, they let go of each other and bowed their heads in apology.

Seeing this, Colonel Bam-Bam snorted before finally letting his ADE recede. "This is the first time, and this should also be the last". He said coldly.

"Yes Colonel". Both Majors saluted.

After that, silence reigned for a few seconds as they waited for the Colonel to continue. The both of them didn't even try to sit down again, they just stood respectfully in front of the Colonel.

Colonel Bam-Bam looked at both of them. "The current state of the city is not pretty," he focused on Roshfield. "Girl, what results have your investigations yielded?"

Major Roshfield took a deep breath to calm herself down, then she answered. "I've confirmed the location of the terrorists".

Major Agakin looked at her but he kept quiet.

Roshfield hesitated slightly, then she raised a hand, asking for permission to speak as she looked at the Colonel.

Colonel Bam-Bam nodded at her. "Speak".

She took a deep breath. "Colonel, we can't afford to stay idle anymore".

"Since I already confirmed the location of the terrorists, my recommendation is that we instantly storm it with force to eradicate them all".

"Let's not leave them any room to escape".

Her face showed anxiety. "You've seen what happened today, the casualty list keeps on rising, I don't know by how much it's going to escalate tonight".

"If we stay cautious and idle, by the end of this all, there may no longer be a Leviathan Quay to save".

"We have to be decisive and act fast".

Colonel Bam-Bam didn't address her points immediately, instead he looked at Agakin and asked. "What are the results of your investigations on the Synths and A.I Constructs in the city?"

Major Agakin instantly became energized again. "I've not found any concrete evidence tying them to the Omnicore Federation yet, but it's evident that they hate us and our city".

"They wish for our downfall!" He said hatefully. "All I need is a little bit of time, a little more time to break them down and crack their mental defenses and I can…"

Colonel Bam-Bam raised a hand, silencing him.

Major Agakin pursed his lips but he stopped talking.

The Colonel looked at Major Roshfield again. "How's the development of that secret squad of yours?"

Hearing that, Major Roshfield's face fell because she could read in-between the lines. Despite the current state of the city, the Colonel still didn't think it was dire enough to mobilize large battalions of the army against the terrorists.

He still wanted it to be a covert operation which led back to her secret elite squad that was being trained.

She took a deep breath. "I drafted a 5-day training plan for them but it's just been 2 days…"

Colonel Bam-Bam stayed calm. "Are they ready or not?"

She pursed her lips, then her face hardened with determination. "I believe that they're ready".

"Good," Colonel Bam-Bam nodded. "Convene with them this night, I want you to deploy them for a raid of the terrorist base tonight".

"We still don't know if the Federation is secretly sponsoring the terrorists," he looked at Roshfield. "So trust me when I saw we should still be wary of them".

"Let your squad handle the terrorists".

"Understood!" She saluted.

"One more thing," Colonel Bam-Bam looked at Roshfield. "Any leads on who the traitors in the army might be?"

"Not yet". Major Roshfield shook her head.

The Colonel looked at Major Agakin who also shook his head. "Then my decision is final".

"Roshfield, let your squad attack the terrorists".

"Agakin, continue your investigations with the Synths and A.I Constructs. The priority still lies in deciphering the move of the Federation".

"Yes Colonel".

Lucian's encrypted smartphone beeped with a new notification.

Instantly, the Demon of Ozempic and all his Holy Champions focused on the smartphone. He picked it up and it projected the message.

The contents of the message read…

["Tonight. Anything between now and midnight, be prepared."]

["Send your subordinate to come get the goods, I couldn't get everything you wanted but I got a few Artifacts."]

["You better not disappoint me."]

Seeing this, Lucian's dark green eyes gleamed.

Grayish white ADE flared as Leon continued working on his robot.

Compared to 2 days ago, there were much more constructs lying around inside this workshop and the robot looked far more complete.

'Status'. He thought and his System's familiar HUD screen lit up.

Phew!

Leon sighed as he wiped the sweet from his face with a clean towel. Despite 2 days having passed already, he was yet to finish the robot construction.

Still, staring at the tall and imposing humanoid robot that was getting increasingly closer to completion, he smiled with satisfaction and pride.

He looked at the time.

[07:51pm]

He whistled. "I still have some time to do more work before visiting Daren in the hospital. I won't be late for training".

The scheduled time for their daily elite squad training in Megabase 023 was 9pm every night to 5am in the morning.

During the past 2 days, they didn't just spar against each other, they also fought in simulated scenarios of how the raid against the terrorists would possibly go as they built their camaraderie.

Leon looked at the robot and thought. 'I'll work for 10 more minutes before leaving,' but then his smartphone suddenly beeped.

BEEP!

Davis immediately projected the notification for him and he looked at it.

[NEW! Unread message from Captain Ariande!]

["Emergency Summons from the Major."]

["Come to the Megabase in 10 minutes, bring all your combat gear along."]

'Emergency summons? Bring all our combat gear along?' Leon's eyes narrowed as his brain whirred. 'Is it finally starting?'

He didn't ask questions, he quickly got ready to leave.

Among the new constructs that Leon crafted in the past 2 days was a basic cleaning bot. He realized the importance of a helpmate and hence why he crafted the bot so Davis could help him more practically while he worked.

"Davis, clean the workshop while I'm gone". He said as he slung his leather backpack on his back.

"Yes master!" The A.I responded enthusiastically.

Leon quickly composed and sent a message to Sergeant Tyla informing her of the sudden emergency that prevented him from going to the hospital.

After that, he left.
