Reborn as a Mechanist with a God-Tier System

Chapter 168: International War! [1]

High up in the sky above Leviathan Quay's air space, hundreds of red-themed military-grade transports descended into the atmosphere, proudly flying flags depicting a half-body size image of an A.I Construct in a burning battlefield.

Hundreds were military-grade transports, but there were also dozens of massive warships mixed in the fray.

These were 200 meter long steel behemoths that ruled the sky, armed with dozens of weapon compartments from Rail Cannons to Pulse and Plasma Cannons, to Laser Cannons, Automatic Gatling Guns, and Disruptor Torpedoes.

Most of them converged in the more populated parts of Leviathan Quay and the Megabases, and now they unleashed hell on the unsuspecting city.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Feeling the vibration of destruction rippling through the air and the ground, Leon shuddered. "T-the Omnicore Federation!"

He stood petrified.

His companions, the survivors of the elite squad beside him also stood petrified, feeling like they were witnessing a nightmare come alive.

Captain Ariande, Lieutenant Johnmark, and even Cormier, they've all heard of the Federation's tyranny and their invasion attacks targeted at other factions but this was the first time they were witnessing a true invasion of this scale.

Inside the small two-seater Aerodyne that now looked like a toy compared to the war vessels descending into Leviathan Quay's airspace, Major Roshfield was also petrified as she stared at the sky with a solemn look on her face.

In that moment, only one thought rang in her mind. 'The Colonel was right!'

She felt a chill crawl down her spine.

Still staring at the sky as the destruction continued, concentrated in the more populous parts of Leviathan Quay, with a stunned and horrified look on his face, Leon's brain whirred. 'What happened?'

'Why didn't the city shield activate?'

'Why did they let the enemy get so close?'

Agitated, Leon started worrying about his friend, Daren who was still in the hospital and in that moment, the city shield finally came online.

HUMMMMMM!

A loud humming sound reverberated across the whole city as a transparent bluish white membrane rapidly spread across the city, encompassing all of Leviathan Quay at a fixed point in the sky.

But the problem was that the shield came on a bit too late.

It cut off hundreds of enemy transport vessels above the fixed point in the sky, but before it activated hundreds of Federation air transports and warships already passed the threshold, successfully invading Leviathan Quay.

Seeing this, Leon's heart sank as his eyelids quivered anxiously. 'What caused the delay?'

2 minutes before the invasion started…

While Major Roshfield recklessly took a double-seater Aerodyne and left Megabase 023 after the coordinates sent by Thomas Riley without informing anybody of her movements, barely a minute after she left, a red alert triggered across all 6 Megabases in the city.

Red alert meant that an event that could pose a threat to the city was happening.

After Major Agakin's confession during the night and his imprisonment, paranoid, Colonel Bam-Bam refused to leave the Megabase and return to his cozy home back in Evergreen District that night.

This decision meant he was perfectly poised to receive the information at the exact moment that the red alert triggered across all 6 Megabases in the city.

BEEP!

His office smartphone got a message.

["Colonel, a Category 3 Beast Tide just hit the Southern Wall!"]

It was a concise message but it conveyed the information precisely.

Over the 700+ years of the new age of Neo-Tokara since After Genesis, the major factions of the world have fought against thousands of Neon Beast invasions and during this time, they categorized beast tides into 4 main categories- Category 1 to 4.

Category 1 was a Neon Beast tide with only F Rank Neon Beasts, Category 2 was a Neon Beast tide led by E Rank Neon Beasts, and the danger increased vice versa with the increasing number.

A Category 3 Neon Beast tide was a beast tide led by D Rank Neon Beasts!

Every Category 3 Neon Beast tide has been recorded and widely broadcasted no matter which territory it occurred in, and in the entire history of Neo-Tokara, Category 3 beast tides have been experienced less than 50 times over the course of 700+ years.

In the past 100 years, only 5 Category 3 Beast tides have been recorded because the major factions of the world developed ways to prevent beast tides.

A Category 3 Beast Tide suddenly erupting unprovoked was an anomaly when a D Rank Ascended was not attempting a trial to C Rank inside the city.

This was why despite the fact that Colonel Bam-Bam felt paranoid and suspicious that something was wrong, he still mobilized over ten thousand soldiers to reinforce the Southern Wall.

The smallest Category 3 Beast Tide in recorded history still had a Neon Beast count of over 100,000 Neon Beasts!

This was a red alert crisis!

Leviathan Quay instantly entered war alert but with the attention of the army fully directed to the Southern Wall, Colonel Bam-Bam failed to pay attention to the sky.

Originally, this was not supposed to be a problem because Leviathan Quay always had scout vessels on standby that monitored the skies.

But this was during normal circumstances.

The Freegrid Collective had the 'Glitch', an existence regarded by many as the greatest NetRunner alive but another major faction in Neo-Tokara with a high concentration of NetRunners apart from the Synth Order is the Omnicore Federation.

The Category 3 Neon Beast tide was a ploy by the Federation!

By provoking the beast tide and averting the attention of the Geneforge City, their NetRunner superiority became evident as they scrambled Leviathan Quay's surveillance completely while their invasion commenced.

Leviathan Quay detected it when it was already late.

By the time Colonel Bam-Bam realized what was happening, hundreds of air transports and over a dozen warships already broke into Leviathan Quay's atmosphere, starting an invasion!

Immediately, Colonel Bam-Bam gave the order to bring the City Shield online but by then, the invasion already started.

Leviathan Quay was caught napping.

Within just the first 2 minutes of the invasion, the casualty list climbed to an unprecedented thousands before the army reacted as Colonel Bam-Bam mobilized the full force of Leviathan Quay's military to intercept.

This was a war on two fronts, one against the Category 3 Beast Tide and the other against an invasion from the Omnicore Federation.

From the previous red alert, Colonel Bam-Bam raised it to black alert.

Black alert meant that an event that could result in the destruction of Leviathan Quay was happening.

Within seconds, Colonel Bam-Bam donned his war armor as armed with a D Ranked Artifact in the shape of a Mace, he stood at the top of Megabase 023, welcoming the invaders.

Then as his ADE swirled around his body he mutated as his shoulder blades squirmed, growing thick black bat-like wings that grew out of openings in his silver war armor.

Both his arms bulged, growing thick hair and developing thick muscles like a Silverback Gorilla.

His legs mutated next, turning into the thick scaled legs of a Bald Eagle also with the vision of an Eagle as his orange ADE erupted violently like a tsunami.

BOOM!

Colonel Bam-Bam launched himself into the sky straight at the enemy transports, leading Leviathan Quay's answer to the invasion!

This was no mere war, this was an international war!

In a prison cell inside Megabase 023.

Major Agakin sat on the bare ground wearing orange prison clothes when he heard the explosions and felt the vibrations erupting through the city.

Startled, he stood up and walked towards the sole window of his cell, peeking outside then he saw the war vessels of the Omnicore Federation descending into Leviathan Quay's airspace as they rained hell on the city.

For a moment, he stood, frozen in shock then his face twisted into that of rage. "I knew it!" He snarled with gritted teeth.

He did what he did because he felt that the city was growing too complacent in recent years, he never knew that the Omnicore Federation actually had intentions of invading the city so soon.

Thinking of Major Roshfield and Colonel Bam-Bam who locked him up, he felt even angrier. "Both of you are unfit to lead this city!"

He stared at the cuffs on his wrists in rage.

He wanted to join the battle immediately but these handcuffs locked his ADE completely. Right now, he was just a man with a vastly enhanced physique and this prison was specialized to hold a superhuman like him.

Feeling even angrier due to his shackles, he charged towards the metallic door of his cell and kicked at it angrily.

"Open this door!" He growled.

There was no answer but he didn't relent.

"I know you're out there you wimpy bastard!"

"This is an order, open the door!"

And finally, a voice answered him. "B-but the Colonel…"

"F*CK THE COLONEL!" Agakin snarled. "Can't you see the current state of the city? There may be no Colonel at the end of today, so open the f*cking door!"

His rage intimidated the soldier who was stationed to watch his prison cell as finally, the soldier relented and opened the door.

Major Agakin glared at him with murder in his eyes. "Unlock my cuffs!"

"But…"

"NOW!"

The soldier shuddered under his smoldering gaze, then he nodded obediently and took the key before quickly unlocking the handcuffs.

The moment the cuffs were unlocked, Major Agakin shoved the soldier out of his way and immediately stormed out of the prison cell and as he did, his muscles squirmed even as his ADE erupted violently.

Genome Shift- Beastframe!

Major Agakin snarled as his spine twisted. His shoulder blades squirmed and his bones snapped as he transformed.

This time, he didn't turn into a Bear. Instead, he turned into a gigantic 8-feet tall Chimera Avian predator born of a mix of a Vulture, a Bald Eagle, and a Peregrine Falcon.

BZZZ!

His orange ADE turned even more violent, aggressively swirling around his body even as he let out a loud soul-numbing shriek.

Then, he spread his wings and flapped them, accelerating towards the glass wall.

BAM!

Major Agakin burst out through the sturdy reinforced glass wall of Megabase 023 with raw power, spreading his wings and soaring into the sky after the nearest war vessel of the Omnicore Federation.

Without hesitation or overthinking, he joined the battle with an untamed violence that announced his presence.

BOOM!

Back in front of the new base of the terrorists.

As a war ignited between the Gene Army and the Federation Army above Leviathan Quay's skies, Major Roshfield quickly accepted the situation as she evaluated her options.

Between facing the terrorists to eliminate them and stopping the invasion of the Omnicore Federation, she made her decision instantly.

Stopping the Federation was the priority!

Unlike the Extremist Movement, the Omnicore Federation had the power and the resources to level Leviathan Quay and turn it into a wasteland if left unchecked!

While the 4 soldiers below watched, the Aerodyne descended in the compound as Captain Ariande and Lieutenant Johnmark helped Lieutenant Cormier, squeezing themselves into the small 2-seater transport.

They looked at Leon but he shook his head.

Major Roshfield didn't question his decision as immediately, the Aerodyne took off into the air, flying back towards the nearest Megabase 021.

Watching them leave, Leon's brain whirred. 'What should I do?'

The sudden invasion by the Omnicore Federation truly shook him, forcing him off his comfort zone and now he was uncertain of what to do.

Despite his uncertainty, one priority reigned high above the others.

'I need to check on Daren!'

Leon climbed the Doom Rover v0.1's shoulder as immediately, Davis controlled the robot, switching it back to its wheeled mobility form as it accelerated out of the military zone.
