MOBA Game Apocalypse

Chapter 104: Situation: Worse

Kill the child. Kill Everyone. That was what you promised yourself, right? Why did you let them run? Do you think they would fare better somewhere else? Or…

…did you actually want them to suffer the same as you have?

"Tch…" Adam clicked his tongue, and the man who was about to plead for his life quickly got up. He whimpered at first, but immediately moved to the child and carried him away to follow the others who ran for the other lanes as Adam had instructed.

Adam watched them disappear over the dunes, small figures growing smaller until they vanished entirely.

He was about to rush toward the enemy's middle crystal, but then saw a large group of people approaching his position. He gripped his weapon tight, but then quickly loosened it when he realized that it was the rest of the Red creeps catching up to him.

Yes… from the time Adam killed the first enemy, it had been less than three minutes.

And in less than three minutes… Adam had killed at the very least fifty people, or so Adam thought. No, from the way Hannah and the others stopped in their tracks—it was more than that. A lot more.

Bodies lay scattered across the desert. Headless bodies piled up, and some of the heads rolled next to each other. The sand had turned dark red, clumping together like wet concrete.

"Oh, no…" Hannah was the first to react, gasping and covering her mouth. But she wasn't staring at the corpses, but at Adam. The ground around him clumped from the blood, even beneath their feet, the sand was almost mud.

With the rays of the sun quickly drying the surface of the sand, it also started to crack. The blood was baking into the earth, creating a grotesque mosaic of death.

The rest of the Red team didn't approach further—it would seem they were also affected by Adam's display of… violence.

One moment, he was trying his best not to kill, and the next… he killed more than a hundred people. And now, some of them even began backing away—only Hannah and the veteran group approached him.

But only Hannah moved next to him. She looked at Adam, and knew exactly why he did what he did. She lightly bit her lip, and whispered "Thank you."

Adam quickly shook his head, saying "Don't. Not for this." He turned around, and just continued quietly marching toward the enemy's middle crystal. The others hesitated to follow at first, but they had no choice at all.

As for Adam, he looked at the words floating in front of him.

He leveled up again during that stunt. He wanted to puke, to scream, to just run. It felt really wrong, growing stronger like that. And it felt… weird.

He'd already experienced how to grow stronger by his own effort outside the Game, and although Clementine called his progress unfair, Adam felt… a sense of pride.

But this? Killing and terrorizing people? How could he ever be proud of this? How could—Oh shut up, Adam. You repeat this again, and again, and again. So pathetic. Stop wallowing. What do you think the people you killed would think if they knew you were this pathetic? Every day, every chapter of your life, you wallow. You cry about the same things over and over. You make the same mistakes. You save no one. You help no one. You're just a broken toy pretending to be human, and everyone can see it. Grace saw it. Samantha saw it. Sylvie. Clementine. Even that little child you just knocked out—she probably saw it too. You're nothing but a walking corpse that refuses to die.

Adam breathed loudly to drown his thoughts away.

Meanwhile, while Adam was trying to restrain his wild thoughts, tens of thousands of people did too—people who were tuned in on the drone focusing on him.

There were only hundreds of them an hour ago, but the stream spread like wildfire. No, the correct term was 'viral'. And of course, Long's post didn't help in containing this fire at all.

The chat was being flooded to the point that the station had to restrict and filter out the messages to avoid spam. The station even officially posted the stream to their website and social media page, even using one photo of Sylvie licking Adam's cheek as their thumbnail.

Suffice it to say, everyone was milking the situation, and everyone was eager to drink it. And one person, in particular, was watching all this unfold while covering her face—Sylvie herself.

She was on a private plane now, almost burying herself in her seat. She immediately sat upright, however, as a person approached from behind and sat in the seat in front of her.

The old woman squinted at her first, then asked, "What's wrong, child?"

And Sylvie said, "It's… nothing, Mrs. President."

Yes. Sylvie was on the plane with France's president.

France's president shook her head. "A lot of things are wrong, Sylvie. I had to pull a lot of strings to get you out of that mess. Do you have any idea how deep I had to dig into America's famous deep state just to extract you?"

Sylvie apologized profusely. "I'm sorry, Madame President. I'll repay the favor however I can."

The president waved her hand dismissively. "Being the country's only S-tier Hero is repayment enough. But this…"

And then, out of nowhere, she pulled out her tablet showing the image of her licking Adam's cheek.

"That's—" Sylvie was about to explain, but the president cut her off.

"We're working to take it off the internet—but it's impossible with how famous you are. The images had already been downloaded millions of times. It—"

The president was about to say something else, but one of the stewardesses approached and whispered something in her ear. The president excused herself, and Sylvie took this chance to watch Adam's stream again.

She could barely even see his silhouette, especially with all the sand. But even then, she didn't even realize she was actually touching her lips.

But then soon, her eyes widened… as a blur appeared across the camera… sweeping Adam away.

She almost stood up from her seat, placing her phone right next to her face. Although it was not clear, she was sure of it… a Hero just attacked Adam.
