"Fucking speedsters! Always running, and running!"

The Berserk Fairy moved with the brutality carrying her name, her wings leaving trails of fire in the air as she chased Kenichi across the sand. Try as she might, she could no longer grab the speedster at all.

But of course, ultimately, Carmen was flying, and Kenichi was running across the sand—and she realized that.

She flew high up, watching Kenichi's movements like a hawk. And then, with a scoff, she dove down with everything she had… and missed.

But it didn't matter; she wasn't expecting to hit him, anyway. She only wanted to mess up with his footing, and she did. Kenichi stumbled, and that was enough for Carmen to lunged at him and pin him down on the sand.

Her small hands wrapped around his throat, her wings slowly folding and pointing toward his helmet.

"Fuck you," she snarled. "Your kind never fights like a fucking man. That fucking Creep is bett—"

And as if in cue to her words, Adam's boot suddenly hit her on the side of the head, sending her rolling away from Kenichi.

"See what I fucking mean?!" Carmen shook her head wildly as she pointed at Adam. She expected Adam to follow up on the attack, but he instead helped Kenichi up…

…then shoved him toward the Crystal and started pointing at it.

Kenichi didn't seem to understand what he wanted, but when he started wildly doing gestures with his hands… it finally dawned on him.

And with a nod, Kenichi ran toward the Crystal and punched it—the sound it made pulsed throughout the entire desert. And with Adam, a Creep, present there… he had no trouble damaging the Crystal at all.

"What the fuck?!" Carmen cursed as she also realized this. She lunged toward the Crystal, but then Adam blocked her path—even going as far as wrapping his arms around her legs, trying to drag her away from Kenichi but still making sure he was within vicinity of the Crystal.

"Get off me, you fucking midget!" Carmen's wings erupted with heat, searing through Adam's armor and into his flesh. The smell of burning meat filled the air, but Adam didn't let go.

Behind them, Kenichi continued his assault on the crystal. Each of his punches moved faster than the eye could follow, not allowing the pillar of light of the Crystal to stop dancing.

"Argh!" Carmen tried to break free, but Adam held on with desperate strength. This wasn't about defeating her—it was about buying time. About keeping her away from Kenichi long enough for the crystal to break.

"Heh… I really am starting to fucking like you!" Carmen's wings grew larger, hotter. "You think that fucking speedster twink chick can break our Crystal before I tear you apart?!"

The heat was incredible. Adam could feel his flesh bubbling and charring where her wings touched him.

Pain. One can never get used to the pain—but Adam was already a master in ignoring them.

Carmen stared down at him, her eyes literary blazing with fury. Her eyebrows lowered, and she decided to fly in the air before kicking Adam away.

Of course, Adam was already lunging at her again… but she had had enough.

"Agh. You made me do this!" Her wings stretched, and she flew straight toward—no. She flew straight through Adam, her wings slicing through his torso like it was paper.

Carmen glanced back, and Adam was still standing. But when she saw his arms go limp, she smirked and approached him.

"Fuck… I really did like you, you know?" Carmen scoffed, grabbing Adam's shoulder and pushing him… but instead of his upper body separating from his legs, his hands shot out.

"What—?!" Carmen's eyes widened in shock, she shrieked in surprise and took a step back. Unfortunately for her, Adam locked his feet around hers, causing her to fall on her butt.

And while she was clearly confused, Kenichi suddenly appeared beside her and punched her right on the head, the impact causing her head to make a small crate from the sand beneath her.

And with her completely discombobulated, Adam took this chance to grab all of her limbs from the front.

Her wings moved to strike him, but he completely ignored them. He let them burn through him, let him slice parts of his flesh—whatever. As long as he could keep her in place.

"You're fucking insane!" Carmen screamed, but there was something like respect in her voice now. There was even a tiny chuckle. "What kind of monster are you?"

Adam said nothing. He just held on.

Behind them, cracks began to spread across the crystal's surface. Kenichi's relentless assault was working. The pillar of light flickered, wavered, began to dim.

Carmen saw it too. With a roar of rage, she used all of her strength to be free of his grip and then grabbed his small frame and lifted him above her head. Her wings beat furiously as she spun him through the air before slamming him down toward the crystal with all her strength.

But Adam twisted in the air and ended up landing on the side of the Crystal on his feet. Of course, Carmen wasn't going to make him look cool at all, and she was already flying toward him.

"Motherfucker!"

"Sh—" Adam quickly leapt to the side, avoiding Carmen's fist. Carmen quickly turned toward him, but before she could give chase—

"Wha—?!" A blade suddenly flew toward her direction. She was able to caught it with both hands, pinning them between her palms. She tilted her head, only to see Kenichi pushing Adam's weapon toward her.

"Now, where did you even find—"

Before she could finish her words, she saw Adam running toward them—and then, with a roar that sounded almost like a cry, he leaped into the air and drove his boot into the Shion's pommel.

The combined force of Kenichi's strength and Adam's desperate kick drove the blade through Carmen's chest.

"W-woah…" She looked down at the steel protruding from her torso, her remaining eye wide with shock.

"Fucking... midget..." she whispered, blood frothing at her lips. But then… she looked at Adam and smiled. "Fucking… badass. I'll find you, you motherfu…"

Her body began to dissolve into orbs of light, the Administrators claiming her body.

And with her body gone, both Adam and Kenichi stood frozen for a moment. The Shion, it had pierced completely through the Crystal. They were sure of it, even with the orbs of light still dancing to hide…

…cracks were beginning to form wildly. The sound it made caused Adam's head to tilt on its own, it felt like something was popping inside his mouth, like a soda.

It was… a weird feeling of victory.

Yes. Victory. Adam watched as the cracks multiplied, and multiplied until no surface of it was left untouched and it felt like the Crystal was only standing through sheer will.

But of course, the Crystal wasn't alive. It had no will at all.

And then, with a sound that reverberated through Adam's very soul, it shattered completely.

It sounded like thunder, the noise crashing over him and causing his hair to dance wildly.

And then, even more deafening were the words that followed—

[Victory! An unprecedented victory! Congratulations, Red team! You deserve this win, some of you more than others!]

"Y-yes…" Adam collapsed to his knees in the sand, his body finally giving in to exhaustion. He glanced up at Kenichi, who was shouting yatta over and over again.

And as Adam was about to close his eyes, he heard a whisper that almost deafened him.

[Congratulations, N/A. With and in this victory, you have accumulated enough Status and contribution points to be reborn as a Hero…
