The Crowned Greed: Transmigrated into a Demonic Dragon

Chapter 106: Understanding All The Colors

Dante flipped quickly through the pages, his mind racing to comprehend all the information.

The handwriting was shaky and contained a lot of scratches, as though the writer was struggling while writing the complex principles of luck.

It didn't have a prologue or useless talk from the writer, only direct notes.

'I understand it now… I understand it now! I'm grateful to whoever made this!' His lips curled upward, feeling immense happiness overwhelming his entire being.

The notebook contained a lot of information he lacked: the colors, the meaning of every element of the Wheel of Luck, and many more!

The pink color was about sexual feelings like lust and romantic love.

'This explains why Maxwell willingly sacrificed his life for Selene. His love literally brought him death!'

The scarlet was fame, which was truly outstanding in Skylar's case. As a wanted prince with high reward for capturing, a lot of people knew about him.

The azure color was wisdom and knowledge, which explained Dante's current encounter.

The white color was pure potential, which was something that Dante had rarely seen with high intensity.

The silver color was wealth, which wasn't always about money.

He flipped page after a page, diving into the sea of knowledge. Simply knowing about them wasn't enough to increase Dante's comprehension, but his talent helped him to comprehend the Misfortune Aspect faster using the notebook' information.

Dante suddenly shifted his gaze to Ruby, making her flinch slightly.

"You… you look a bit happy." Ruby laughed awkwardly, bringing her hands behind her back: "I know bringing a scammer was a mistake on my side… but you didn't lose anything, and even got that notebook. Well, no need to thank me."

"No need to thank you?" Dante frowned as he muttered these words.

Twice.

Because of her, he gained what he needed exactly without losing anything twice!

"I'll give you a small reward later." Dante said happily, ignoring his greed for money in his happiness.

'And I won't enslave her, no matter how useful she is! Don't even think of using my thoughts again!'

Ruby's body trembled in excitement, resisting the urge to giggle. As expected, she'd get a small reward because of her ability.

Ms. Agnes looked at Dante with narrowed eyes: 'Can he really see them?'

She couldn't confirm whether he was truly seeing them or not, but his visible hunger while reading the notebook and the fact that he could see through the blindfold were enough to make her almost certain.

Additionally, why would he lie? She was just an old woman on the verge of death and he was someone who could kill her in an instant, he had no reason to lie.

'If only I could get his blindfold…'

If she stole his blindfold, she'd truly become the Grand Seer, not a fraud guesser. But she dismissed that idea immediately. Although she was old, she wasn't suicidal.

Unfortunately for her, Dante had other ideas.

Under the blindfold, his eyes moved to Agnes' Wheel of Luck, focusing on one specific color.

It was green.

'The notes state that every color has two different meanings.' Dante smirked: 'It can be a reflection or a source of luck. According to the notebook, the green color shows health and vitality.'

With this information alone, the old Dante would have thought that it reflected the health of a person. He even called all the colors the Gained Luck.

But he was only partially right.

'It's more than that.' Dante rubbed his chin: 'It truly can be a kind of gained luck, but it also might be a prediction of a possible future!'

He had guessed something like that from how the blood-red luck was always increasing in intensity before anything violent, but he now confirmed it.

If someone had intense health luck, then they either had really good health or a high chance to have an encounter related to their health!

Of course, that encounter wouldn't always be good, it depended on their misfortune and fortune.

'If I have an encounter related to health and I'm unlucky, I might get poisoned or get a sudden heart attack, which would actually reduce my health. But if I'm lucky enough, I might find a herb that cures an illness.'

Dante comprehended the information in the notebook quickly, using his own perception and experience to expand his understanding: 'And obviously, all that is just a possibility. Even if my misfortune is the size of a mountain and the health luck as intense as the sun, I still might encounter nothing. Luck is the concept of uncertainty itself, and everything about it is unpredictable.'

As those thoughts crossed his mind, he secretly channeled his mana, mixing it with misfortune spiritual energy.

Simultaneously, he noticed Agnes' health luck. It was weak and barely visible, maybe due to her age.

'She is too old and likely dying, but I don't know if there is a low chance she encounters something related to health or not.'

That was the problem of these colors carrying two meanings, nothing was certain. He couldn't be certain whether the low health intensity reflected Agnes' health, predicted a possible future, or both.

But at this point, Dante didn't care.

He immediately used the new knowledge to create a new spell.

Misfortune Spell — Who Cares About The Name!

Dante didn't bother to name the new spell and immediately sent an invisible pulse of misfortune, targeting Agnes' Health Luck and misfortune. 70% of Dante's mana was consumed.

Instantly, her Health Luck increased in intensity, and her misfortune coiled around it like a centipede, ignoring all the other colors.

"Cough… Cough."

All of a sudden, under everyone's gaze, the old scammer coughed two mouthfuls of blood.

"Damn it. Don't die now!" Ryan immediately rushed toward Ms. Agnes with panic, checking her condition.

"It's nothing, just my old body giving me a reminder of my inevitable fate…" Ms. Agnes smiled weakly before coughing another mouthful of blood.

"HAHAHAHA! TOLD YOU!" Jin laughed: "Ryan, I told you that old scammer is so old she's going to die on the journey. I won the bet!"

"You won nothing! Look, she's alive and healthy. Isn't that right, Grandma?" Ryan said softly before helping Ms. Agnes to reach the carriage.

"Wait, isn't helping her considered cheating?"

"It isn't!"

Ms. Agnes, Ruby, and Dante looked at that interaction in shock.

'Were they betting on her life?!'

Apparently, the two mercenaries had a bet on whether she's going to live long enough or not. Dante thought for a moment that Ryan was showing genuine concern, but he was just afraid of losing the bet.

Dante shook his head immediately: 'Anyway, the important thing is that the spell worked!'

Dante's spell was simple. Similar to how he was able to cast blood-red luck, which he now knew was Violence, he cast Green Luck, which was health.

Then, he forced Ms. Agnes' misfortune to coil around the health luck, focusing all of it only on that specific color.

Thankfully, it worked.

Not just worked, but it also showed an instant result!

'Should I try another spell?' Dante's eyes gleamed coldly before dismissing that thought.

Not because he was worried about her life, but because it consumed a lot of his mana.

He didn't care about Ms. Agnes' life. The moment he saw her bad intentions, she became no better than an animal in his eyes.

He wasn't lying when he said that he was already generous enough not to kill her. The only reason he hadn't killed her yet was because killing her was useless for him.

"Umm… sir." Ruby suddenly called, looking down in hesitation: "If your blindfold can truly see luck, can you then see mine? Will I lose my carriage again?"

Dante scratched the back of his head: "I'm not sure—"

"Oh, oh!" Jin cut in, raising his hand excitedly: "Me too, me too! Can you see when I'll become a duke? Will it be easy or a hard path?"

"..."

Jin's voice held no hesitation. For him, the question wasn't if, but how and when.

'Can I become the real Grand Seer and predict things by observing the colors on their wheels?'

Dante's brows furrowed as he thought about that carefully. If he read the notebook carefully, he might be able to do it, but he knew more than anyone else how unpredictable luck was.

"I can make a guess…" Dante muttered, but as soon as Ruby and the mercenaries' eyes sparkled, he continued: "But I don't want to give you false hope or warn you of a nonexistent danger."

"Will you lose something by trying?" Ryan asked while crossing his arms.

"I don't think…" Dante shook his head.

"Then stop hesitating and do it!" Jin grinned: "Do you think I'm going to win the bet?"

Dante's eyes twitched, but he didn't respond immediately.

"Argh, whatever." Dante sat in the soft snow and reopened the first page: "Give me a few seconds, I'll memorize this first."

"Yay!"

"Read quickly, we don't have the entire day."

"Shut your drunk filthy hole!"
