'How long has it been again?' Dante questioned himself: 'I think a few weeks, right?'
"It's been five months now." Sin of Greed appeared all of a sudden and laughed: "You've been in this world for five months and you're already this strong. As expected of my descendant."
'Those were just my internal thoughts, I didn't ask you specifically!' Dante hissed inwardly.
Sin of Greed ignored him and continued: "Of course, if I got your body, I'd have advanced to Rank 3 long ago."
'Just shut up!'
"Hmm? Is there something wrong?" Sitting behind Dante, Ruby asked after hearing him grit his teeth.
"It's nothing, just remembering something." Dante shook his head and gave a vague answer, which Ruby had already expected.
'I swear this guy is mentally ill!'
Over the past weeks, she had met him a few times for business purposes.
During these few times, she noticed a few strange things about Dante.
'He's emotionally unstable…' Ruby thought as she remembered his strange behaviour.
Just like now, they might be discussing something or sitting in complete silence, and suddenly Dante would start showing the emotions of fury and anger.
'Additionally, his behaviour changed in the past weeks after he refused to share a bed with me.'
In this part, even Ruby herself didn't understand him.
She thought that he was affected by the Holy Kingdom's culture that didn't like sexual interactions. So, after he rejected her offer, she decided to stop trying to seduce him.
And what did he do after that?
He proceeded to look at every single sensitive part of her body!
But instead of looking at her like a pervert, it was more like a man analyzing an object. She couldn't see his eyes, but his face didn't show a hint of lust. In addition to that, his hands would twitch from time to time whenever he looked at her, as though he were suppressing the urge to choke her whenever he examined her body.
Of course, other than the confusion, she didn't truly mind. She even tried to seduce him again, thinking that he was hiding his interest. Surprisingly, he didn't show any aggressive reaction.
When she gathered enough confidence, she once again asked to share a bed with him.
He rejected her again!
But she noticed that his reaction was more casual than the first time, and the strange behaviour of his hands twitching was becoming less frequent.
But she had already given up.
'There is no hope in this man. I'm even starting to think that he's a virgin! It's his loss, anyway.'
Ruby didn't know that she was merely used as a training item for Dante to start acting normally in front of women.
Yes, he finally decided to overcome his trauma. And while looking at Ruby, he was confident that he made good progress.
'I still want to punch her, but I don't show it like before.' Dante smiled inwardly.
Although he still was far from overcoming his trauma, progress was still progress, no matter how small it was.
And of course, he wasn't ready to cross some lines. He was now looking cruelly at Ruby's body, but he would never make physical contact with her as a sort of training, no matter what.
Dante closed a book he was reading and stood up, returning the book to the shelf. As he did that, he couldn't help but examine the new library with pride.
'It finally started to look like a real small library after Ruby bought me these books.' Dante was satisfied at the sight.
There were a few books about runes, adding more knowledge to his head.
There were a few books about specific beasts, which would help Dante to create more shadows beside the shadow wolf.
In fact, he had created one already!
There were a few books that contained some fighting styles. Dante had read them as an attempt to replace Dance of Greed, but unfortunately, Dance of Greed seemed to be truly superior.
Other than reading a few books, there were too many things that Dante had done in the past weeks.
'First of all, I made a few good trades with that woman.' Dante looked at Ruby as he thought of that.
She was sitting on a chair with a plate of fruits and vegetables in front of her. She was here for another trade.
His trades with her were mostly about him selling her beasts and some strange herbs while she'd search for whatever he wanted and maybe some potions from time to time.
From his trades so far, his total mana crystals reached around 250 after deducting all the mana crystals that were used.
Considering that every mana crystal costs between 5 and 20 gold coins, Dante had a fortune that valued between 125 and 500 platinum coins!
'Damn, I'm rich!'
Considering the worst exchange rate, Dante would be able to buy a luxurious house in a good major city for 20 platinum coins, leaving him with 105 platinum coins to live his life peacefully.
If he rejected the Earth's morals, he could buy two slaves for around 15 platinum coins, and live without making any efforts for the rest of his life!
Gulp!
Dante gulped in excitement. Normal people wouldn't even dream of 10% of his fortune, he was now standing amongst the elites of society.
He subconsciously glanced at his misfortune. It was now 5% of the original size, a significant drop that he never expected to reach.
He and Fafnir had killed too many beasts to reach this far. What Dante wanted to see was what was going to happen after he got rid of all the misfortune.
'It'll either reveal that I have a normal Wheel of Luck hidden beneath the misfortune, turn out that the tendril black hole is actually my Wheel of Luck and it'll keep attracting misfortune endlessly, or the traits will simply disappear.'
There were simply so many possibilities, and none of them were bad. Draining all his misfortune would either be a big positive change or show no difference at all.
Regardless, even if he got rid of his misfortune, he wouldn't be able to live in a city. His Crown of Existence, the origin of his soul, and the bloodlines of this body were enough to endanger him.
'What else have I done in the past weeks?' Dante's mind raced for an answer before remembering: 'Yeah, I also finished reading the chaos magic book.'
After finishing the book, he gained only two additional things.
First, he finally understood how to… let's say open a gate to another world that could bring some chaotic horrors into Terra.
Yeah, a pretty useful spell.
And unlike the other spells, this one needed a sacrifice!
Dante moved across his memory as he remembered: 'By sacrificing some Cores of Existence, I can cause chaos into the fabric of space itself and open a temporary gate that leads to a random planet that contains chaos energy.'
Dante didn't need to think twice to know the real purpose of this spell. After all, the transmigrator found herself in this world because of chaos energy.
In other words, the transmigrator tried to return to Earth!
Sadly, as a chaos spell, it was like every other thing related to chaos… random.
It might send her to Earth, but that would have required a significant amount of luck, as no one knew for sure how many places out there possessed chaos energy like Earth.
Thus, whether she succeeded or not couldn't be determined.
For the current Dante, using that spell would be impossible, as it consumed more chaos energy than he could make, and the consumption was random depending on the chosen planet.
Maybe because of that, in addition to the spell, there was a formation version that used external mana crystals to activate.
'It's similar to the formation which was used by the "witch".'
Obviously, the formation that she used wasn't the original one. The one she used was merely a flawed version that targeted beasts rather than planets and had a fake promise of reviving the dead.
The real formation didn't need blood, organs, or any of that crap. Just a formation with mana crystals, Cores of Existence, and a person from Earth.
Would Dante ever use it?
Maybe.
He might need to get Cores of Existence while at home, which would make that formation a bit useful.
'The monster that tried to enter Terra through the gate had a Core of Existence. It confirms that mana isn't a requirement to get a Core of Existence from the World Runes.'
That thought raised another question about the criteria that the World Runes used to choose a planet, but Dante couldn't think of an answer.
The second thing he got from the book was more knowledge about the chaos energy. If he used his brain well, he might create his own chaos spells and techniques. That was completely possible.
Other than reading the book, all that Dante did was train, eat, and kill beasts. Unfortunately, he couldn't raise his Spirit stat.
'It wasn't like I couldn't find Rank 2 beasts. In fact, I found a lot of them, but I'm not stupid enough to attack them recklessly.'
Dante sighed before quietly teleporting to his bed, leaving Ruby alone in the library.
