The Crowned Greed: Transmigrated into a Demonic Dragon

Chapter 124: Strange Opportunity

'Let's see…'

At the edge of the White Abyss, Dante opened a book and re-read it carefully for the hundredth time.

The book provided a lot of information about the White Abyss, and Dante didn't want to miss a single point about it.

The White Abyss was located only a few kilometres away from the treehouse, so of course Dante made Ruby buy a book about it.

When Dante created the emergency escape formation, it was originally supposed to send him to a nearby cave, but he changed his mind after Ruby one day arrived and told him about this place.

It was just too perfect to waste, so he paid Ruby again to help him change the location.

He only had to follow her instructions and find a shadow that would always be there even in the daytime. He didn't find any, so he created one himself.

That way, he got an emergency escape formation that led to the edge of one of the most dangerous places in Terra.

Yeah, no sane person would decide to use such a dangerous zone for hiding, but that was the point!

Dante had entered this place a few times to hunt beasts. He was confident that with enough preparation time, he could make something to hurt Clara and Beatrice's son before finishing them off.

Additionally, was there anything better than making his enemies think that he was insane?

'Or maybe I'm really insane… no, I'm not. Greed, shut the fuck up! I know that was you!'

"Again." Seeing Dante grit his teeth, Ruby sighed audibly. She was already getting used to this.

She had also noticed the book that literally appeared out of nowhere!

'One moment it isn't here, and the next it. HOW DID HE DO THIS?!' Ruby wondered as calmly as possible.

As far as she knew, Dante had only the Shadow Aspect and the Time Aspect. Did he have another aspect that she didn't know about, or was that just an application of one of them?

Upon hearing Ruby's sigh, Dante finally noticed that she was still watching him, so he asked: "Why are you still here? Don't tell me they're looking for you as well."

"What? Of course not." Ruby shook her head: "It's just… I don't think I can survive alone…"

As she said that, she looked at the forest. The unknown darkness made her feel a shiver running down her spine.

Dante understood her. If she left him now, she'd have to return to a nearby town alone, without even a mount to carry her.

Last time, she had Jin to protect her from the wild beasts, but what would she do now without help?

Of course, there was also another reason.

"Did you forget that I can see your luck?" Dante smirked, crossing his arms: "I see your ability clearly."

Ruby gulped before looking at the ground awkwardly. Inside her wheel, four arrows pointed in different directions. Two of them pointed at Dante, and the other two led to the White Abyss.

That was an opportunity, and a unique one above that.

Two of these arrows were the same color as the Wealth Luck, and the other two had the color of the Strength Luck.

'If the wisdom arrows gave me the notebook of the book, which was truly helpful. Are the strength arrows going to give me a kind of power up?'

Dante felt excitement when he thought about that.

He was planning to use the Cores of Existence to advance in ranks and increase his chances to kill Beatrice's son and his wife, but he had changed his mind now.

He decided to see that opportunity first before deciding whether to absorb the cores or not.

'Wait, what is this?' Dante narrowed his eyes as he stepped closer to Ruby.

Ruby felt immense fear: "I-I admit that I became a bit greedy after my ability activated, but I was just about to tell—!"

"Shut up, I know you were going to tell me eventually. I won't reject it just because I'm being followed." Dante interrupted as he focused on her arrows, especially the ones that were pointing at him.

After close examination, Dante confirmed his doubts as he realized that the arrows weren't truly pointing at him.

'Sin of Greed?!'

They were pointing at his arm. The same arm that contained the centipede!

'Greed, what the hell does that mean?!' Dante gritted his teeth, struggling to calm himself.

The next moment, a centipede appeared in front of him, coiling around Ruby's figure.

"Isn't this interesting?" Greed laughed, looking at Ruby with his segmented crimson eyes: "That's beyond a simple act of finding opportunities by luck. I didn't expect her ability to make a connection to it by simply getting close to the White Abyss."

'It? What is it?' Dante asked, his gaze making Ruby uncomfortable.

Greed laughed: "Why don't you follow her and see yourself? You know that her ability is going to benefit you eventually, right? As for what the opportunity is, you will know once you arrive there. I was planning to come here after getting your body, but I think everything there is going to be yours now."

After Greed finished his speech, he suddenly disappeared, leaving Dante to keep staring at Ruby.

Dante felt uneasy, especially when considering that Greed himself was the key, not Dante.

It was true that the opportunities only benefited Dante so far, but who said that Greed was excluded? What if that was an opportunity for him?

'If he's the key, could it be just another part of him?' Dante—or Greed—thought inwardly.

If that was truly a part of Greed, then what could he do upon finding it? Would he be able to destroy it?

"So… will I get a share?" Ruby finally shattered the silence with a simple question.

Dante's gaze sharpened. He rubbed his chin for a few seconds before answering: "Depends…"

"Ignore the two lunatics who are following us for now… I'll deal with them later."
