Adrian focused intently, drawing upon all the power he could from their bond, the more he drew. The slower Grey became, her figure seemed to shrink slightly as well while Adrian's grew in comparison until.
In a split second. Adrian's entire form, shifted into a Wolf, his figure soared through the air, instantly emerging in-between the three of them, his eye-catching pitch black fur and crimson eyes stunned the three. His fierce gaze instantly locked on the female goblin, forcing her to stop in her tracks, her movements seemed so fluid and easy, showing just how skilled she was.
Unfortunately, Adrian was a tad to slow, Grey and the Gorgon were astounded by his sudden transformation but they failed to stop their attacks in time.
Adrian's teeth gnashed in pain, when Grey bit into his shoulder while the Gorgon's deadly Claws smashed across his back.
The both of them suddenly looked distressed afterwards. They all quickly surrounded Adrian, looking worried. His beautiful black fur was now drenched in crimson. The wounds were so severe that Adrian began feeling light headed due to the rapid blood loss.
Grey nuzzled against him while the Gorgon who had left for a moment, returned with his wicker basket of herbs, her icy disposition was no more and in its place was a look of apology and growing worry.
" Don't worry, I'm fine..." Adrian nuzzled his head against Grey who's eyes were already suffused with tears while she let out soft whimpers. But she let out a startled yelp when he gave her a quick bite on her nape.
' I can't have myself dying now. If I did that, I'm sure you three would end up tearing yourselves apart.' Adrian said to himself sounding strained in his head. He felt glad that he had actually managed to do it, back then he felt that the only way he could reach them in time was if he had more legs. To think that he'd actually get them but not just that, he also became a bloody wolf.
Grey didn't retaliate but her saddened eyes blinked in confusion, wondering why he had done that. After all. He wasn't mad at what she'd done. Even the other two were confused but Adrian simply smiled.
The faint bleeding on Grey's neck began to reside as the wound healed, Adrian who saw this, focused once more and used the bond to heal his wounds. Through the bond, he was able to heal at full speed and in a few minutes, the wounds on his body were completely gone.
Adrian unconsciously shifted back afterwards before falling backwards but the Gorgon reacted quickly and caught him.
" Thanks." Adrian smiled at the Gorgon before letting out a breath to calm himself. All that stress just now had taken a tole on him. He felt like closing his eyes and getting some rest but he tossed the thought out the window when he noticed the Gorgon glaring and hissing at Grey who tried to approach him.
GRRRRRRR
Grey stopped in her tracks and looked angered, glaring and baring her fangs at the former.
" Stop that, the two of you!" Adrian frowned at the two, looking very much unhappy. " Haven't you two learned anything, or do you both want to kill me this time before you finally learn your lesson!"
The two stiffened and snapped out of their minds when he scolded them, Grey turned silent and sat down on her hind legs, lowering her head in apology whilst the Gorgon pressed her lips together but didn't say anything.
Adrian sighed and stood properly before walking up to Grey and hugging her furry neck. " I'm not blaming you for anything, it's my fault for leaving you alone for so long. I know I should've come to get you sooner." Grey smiled, revealing her fangs before she began nuzzling against him, Adrian laughed lightly, he didn't mind the sight of her fearsome fangs but he enjoyed her fluffy embrace.
" Ok ok. I understand. I'm happy you're ok to." Adrian spoke in-between laughs. " That's enough Grey, stop it. or I might just get addicted to this." He said with a giggle, eventually, Grey had her fun and stopped but she then nudged him before pointing at the Gorgon with her snout as if asking about her.
" I guess I should've mentioned earlier, She wasn't trying to harm me.We were only having a... conversation before you came in." Adrian explained with gestures yet his nervous pause made Grey's eyes squint with suspicion while an amused smile emerged on the Gorgon's lips. The goblins expression darkened slightly at the sight of this but she strangely remained silent instead of acting brashely like she usually did.
Adrian stared at Grey in silence, hoping she'd accept what he said, the last thing he wanted was for her to still remain suspicious, if that were the case then his plan of taking the Gorgon with him wouldn't work.
Rather than Adrian only coming here to check up on her. One of his hidden agendas, was to come here and see if he could get her to come with him back to the village so as to get Mr Miller to bond them together. Afterwards, he would take her and Grey with him to the so called capital, maybe get a job and support his mother, with the both of them helping him. He believed it would be easier and more beneficial for him.
To those who may be confused, Adrian had no heinous intentions, he was simply worried that once he left the village, then out of hunger. She might set her sights on the village. The last thing he wanted was to hear that Mr Miller had slain her if he ever returned to the village.
While his mother would be coming with him, he still didn't want to leave such a dangerous probability for the village. After all, that was where he had grown up in,
The fact that she had eaten him played a huge part in such thinking.
Yes he would be saving his village but Adrian wasn't dumb enough to put his mother in danger for the sake of others, with the demonstration he'd just shown, where he knew he had to put Grey in a state of healing to share her healing properties, he had come to the realisation that the only reason Grey had returned to her true form was because he had indirectly wished for such a thing since it had done a great deal of helping them with their herb gathering. Since that was the case.
' It stands to reason that if I will it, she shouldn't be able to change into her true form or use her abilities. As a normal human woman, I'm sure I can handle her. Moreover.' Adrian stole a glance at the goblin but flinched and returned his gaze when she noticed his gaze in a split second.
' Since she's here to, I guess I can seal her powers to and keep her from harming others or putting herself in harms way, without her speed, she shouldn't be that hard to manage. Right?' Adrian felt as if this one was definitely a bad idea but at the same time, he couldn't help but feel hopeful that maybe she'd changed after their encounter. Since she hadn't tried to kill him outright, nor did she reveal any of her sadistic tendancies.
Grey's silence mounted an invisible pressure on Adrian but his eyes brightened when she licked him and nodded her head.
" You're such a good girl." he said softly, running a hand over the thick, coarse fur of her muzzle. " When we get home, I'll be sure to give you half of my portion for dinner." Grey let out an excited yelp before beginning to lick Adrian's face rapidly, he chuckled while trying to get her to stop.
A pair of icy eyes frowned at the warm moment between the two, a hint of jealousy burning in those two eyes, This tender moment was abruptly interrupted by a pained, pathetic whimper the next second.
Adrian turned to see the Gorgon girl holding up her wounded tail, technically it was completely healed already yet she acted as if her tail still hurt.
He smiled awkwardly as if he could already see through her intentions but seeing her serpentine blue eyes, which were wide and brimming with what looked like genuine hurt, as if she were a child showing him a scraped knee, Adrian couldn't bear to stand still. The terrifying monster was gone, replaced by a creature seeking comfort, not to mention that her sudden pleading look seemed to be further enhanced by her icy beauty, making it harder for him to pull his eyes away from her.
Adrian sighed. " I'm so sorry about that. I can't believe I forgot." he said, walking over to her. "Let me see." He said in a soft caring tone as he knelt down, and she immediately presented her tail to him. He examined the wounds, or more like what was left of them. Which were faint dents that were vanishing as time ticked on.
" It looks ok..." Adrian said but trailed off when her brows furrowed, he faked a cough before continuing. " But I'm sure there should be some lingering pain. I think I have just the thing to ease the aching."
He went to his discarded herb basket and pulled out some herbs. He sat back down, and using a neat stone, he began to mash the herbs into a paste on the cave floor, just as he had done for Grey in the forest. The Gorgon watched in silence, the familiar sight made her chest warm up, her non existent pain seemingly forgotten as she observed his every move.
As he worked, Grey's massive form began to shimmer and shrink. In moments, the horse-sized wolf was gone, and the Grey-haired girl stood in her place, still dressed in her fur cloth. She crossed her arms over her chest, a deep frown on her face as she watched Adrian gently apply the herbal medicine to the Gorgon's tail. Everyone else already knew that she was practically taking advantage of him but she couldn't do anything because she knew he knew as well. Which annoyed her, she began believing that he was simply too nice for his own good.
The Gorgon, feeling the soothing coolness of the herbs on her tail, let out a soft, appreciative sigh. As Adrian focused on his work, the Gorgon glanced over his shoulder at Grey. A tiny, smug, triumphant smile flickered across her lips, her serpentine blue eyes glinting with satisfaction. It was as if she was trying to convey that Adrian obviously cared for her more than the wolf.
Grey's scowl deepened, her own sapphire blue eyes constricting into tips. The Gorgon's look had hit its mark perfectly.
"There," Adrian whispered softly, finishing his treatment. "That should help erase all the lingering aches." He gave the Gorgon's scaled flank a reassuring pat before standing up and turning his attention to the final, and most puzzling, member of their group.
He focused on the half-eared goblin girl, who had been watching the entire scene with a quiet, unnerving stillness. That same quiet disposition worried Adrian the most because he felt as if he couldn't see through her at all.
" Now that everythings been settled." he said, his voice taking on a harder edge. " I can finally ask the one thing that's been bordering me for awhile now." His expression turned stern, his earlier softness completely gone.
"Why are you here? After everything..." Adrian stopped momentarily to reel in his emotions before sighing and continuing." It's obvious you've been keeping tabs on me for awhile now..."
' I can't believe I never even noticed... She's definitely more stealthy than I give her credit for.'
" So, out with it... What is it you want..." Adrian gestured, his left brow raised in questioning.
Before the goblin could even open her mouth, Grey moved. She stepped quickly in front of Adrian, placing herself squarely between him and the goblin girl. She crossed her a
rms, her body language seemed protective as if she was openly shielding the goblin from Adrian.
