Aurelia lifted her hand and pointed at the larger one walking towards the carriage.
"I will kill it while you take care of the other one."
"Yes."
Both agreed and swiftly flew down to attract the attention of the two giant trolls. And they did so effortlessly.
The moment the trolls sensed the scent of humans, they lifted their heads and howled.
"Gawwwlll."
Another ferocious, guttural howl tore through the environment, sending fear into the hearts of every creature in the forest.
A few minutes ago, the two trolls seemed to have engaged in some unpleasant, draining physical activity. So, they looked exhausted. But the scent of humans made them jump back to their feet in joy.
The thought of eating raw human flesh seemed to have rejuvenated their spirit.
Aurelia didn't wait for anything else. She flew closer to the ground to lure the larger troll to an open space. The area where the trees stood was not an ideal place to face the trolls.
Seeing the two humans fly above them, the excited trolls followed carelessly. Their large feet stomped the ground periodically in a rhythmic fashion until they caught up with the humans.
Watching the trolls approach, Elenor and Aurelia landed on the ground and waited. They acted as bait to lure them closer, eradicating what little hesitation the trolls had.
Seeing the humans stay still, they became even more excited. Slobbering while imagining the taste of human flesh, they dashed.
Watching them closely, both Elenor and Aurelia smiled. Just as they reached within ten meters of them, they cast a wide-area quagmire spell.
Immediately, a torrent of mana drained out of their body, seeping into the ground. Moments later, the stretch of land between the trolls and them became soft.
Then it abruptly caved, sucking the two huge bodies into the ground.
The trolls flung their arms in panic. They tried to grab the ground to stop themselves from being swallowed whole.
Unfortunately for them, the ground was soft and viscous. At the same time, when they tried to push on it and lift their body, the mud clung to them, dragging them deeper.
Aurelia and Elenor faced each other and nodded. The generic troll trap they used worked out perfectly. It was time to execute the giants.
Each of them began to gather mana for their most powerful spell.
Glancing back once more, they cast the largest spell engraved on their mana cores.
"Vacuum Collapse."
"Infernal Judgment."
Two of them spoke in unison.
Vacuum Collapse was the spell cast by Elenor. A small bead of mana formed at her fingertip and flew straight towards the exposed head of the troll.
Infernal Judgment formed into a flaming sun the size of an orange before flying to the other troll.
Both spells moved at high speed and hit the heads of the trolls.
Instantly, Infernal Judgment erupted into a flame pillar, drilling into the head of the troll.
It tried to resist for a moment by releasing mana to its head to protect it. But the rock-hard skin nor the mana could protect it from Infernal Judgment's metal-melting heat.
Letting out a blood-curdling scream, it felt the hot flame pillar drilling into its skin.
Then everything went blank for the troll. It didn't resist anymore, being fully swallowed by the flame pillar's fiery wrath.
At the same time, the Vacuum Collapse touched the other troll's head. Instead of killing it instantly, the bead-sized ball of mana expanded to a ten-foot radius.
Then, all the air in the region shrank rapidly, collapsing into a single point on the troll's head.
Similar to the other one, this troll tried to resist the attack too. But it couldn't stop the air from drilling into its nostrils at high speed.
With bloodshot eyes, it looked at Elenor in fear before its head imploded inward, being sucked into its lungs.
"Dead."
"Mine too."
Both said simultaneously and smiled. To them, killing the trolls was as easy as breathing. The training they did with Corvinus had already prepared them for such situations.
"It smells bad." Aurelia frowned a second later as the smell of raw flesh and burnt meat spread towards them.
"Yes, it does."
"Let's make little Zee dig out the mana cores. I will go get him."
Before Elenor could reply, Aurelia took to the skies, vanishing toward the carriage. The entire battle with the trolls had taken roughly three minutes. She was eager to see Zephyr's expression when he saw the aftermath of her work.
—-
It took less than twenty seconds for Aurelia to return to the carriage. But the scene she saw was not what she expected.
Zephyr was sitting cross-legged near a tree, breathing heavily. The carriage they rode was in shambles. The horses seemed to have escaped.
And most importantly…the coachman was missing his head.
'What happened?' Inwardly screaming, she flew down to the ground.
"Zephyr!" She exclaimed.
"Yo! Big sister Aurie is back." Zephyr opened his half-closed eyes.
"What happened here?" Aurelia inquired.
"As you can see, even in a deep forest, humans are the most dangerous creatures." Zephyr pointed at the headless body lying a few feet away from him.
"That man over there wanted to kidnap me. He failed miserably." Zephyr said, wiping off grime from his face.
He had already washed away the cerebral fluid and brain matter. However, the few that clung to his hair were falling onto his face occasionally.
"Poor guy must have thought it would be easy." He muttered, standing up.
Shocked by what she heard, Aurelia widened her eyes.
"He wanted to kidnap you?"
"Yeah! The necromancer's master sent him even when he knew he would fail. That man has no regard for human life."
Cough.
"Anyways, did you kill the trolls?"
Aurelia nodded absentmindedly.
"That's great. At least, something worked out in the end."
The way Zephyr spoke made him seem like he didn't care about the kidnapping incident at all. Normally, a person would be shaken to the core experiencing such an incident. And yet he was acting perfectly fine.
Was there perhaps a screw loose in his head? Aurelia wondered.
Then, snapping out of her thoughts, she began to ask for details regarding what happened while she was away.
