"Courting Death!! Cripple your cultivation and kowtow before me!!"
"Yeah, yeah, here comes the young master!!"
On a bustling beach, seated on the yellow sand wearing nothing but shorts, Leon yelled excitedly at his phone screen. Xiaomi written on top of the phone was cracked along with the screen, but can this stop a webnovel reader? The answer is simple—NO.
Whistle
"Are you a boy or a ladyboy?"
A short whistle came from nearby first, followed by a tease. Leon looked up with an annoyed face; the stranger that just taunted him was a foreigner just like him because, similar to him, he was talking in German in Thailand.
"Look at that glowing green eye and blonde hair; even if you are a boy, no worries…"
This was not the first time, nor will it be the last, but getting teased by your own countrymen? That's a new low even for his unlucky ass. Removing his slipper slowly with a smile, Leon threw it hard towards the man.
"What are you doing?… Hey!! Stop… Scheiße."
"Motherfucker!!"
Forgetting his phone in the sand, with only one slipper on, Leon gave the man a life-threatening chase, and the teaser ran for his life. After a while, Leon had to stop with exhaustion and gasp for breath; bending down, he put his hands on his knee, and then he realised he was missing a slipper on his left leg while his phone was also gone.
"Shit!! Shit!! "
When he ran back, he found his phone half buried in the sand, but the slipper he threw was already in the sea, floating as if following its own destiny, away from the unluckiest bastard on the planet.
Clutching his head, Leon sat beside his phone, sighing a few times at his luck. He tapped the screen a few times, but as he expected, it was dead, with water going inside of it.
"…I should just die."
After trying everything he could, Leon uttered this under his breath: Last night he was robbed of all his belongings; he came to Thailand as a trainee model but got scammed. The last thing he had with him was his phone, but now that is gone too.
"How deep is this sea? Should I map it out today?"
The nightlife was bustling near the beach; everywhere you looked, there were people gathered, dancing, and enjoying themselves. Life looked so good, but Leon could only stare at the cold sea because he was stuck in a foreign country with no means to return to his own country.
"Even if I return, what's the point? There's not a single person waiting for me back there."
"Hey, Handsome, want to join us?"
When he was certain about mapping out the sea floor, a beautiful voice woke him up. Looking at the two women in their two-piece bikinis, Leon almost forgot about mapping out the seabed and surely wanted to map these two more instead.
"No money!!"
As a person with only basic English, Leon can only say some easy ones to communicate, and in this place famous for its sex tourism, he was certain no one was going with the broke-ass him, or where the fuck will he take them, behind a palm tree?.
Hearing his reply, both of them giggled together, while their augmented perfect breasts danced with them. Leon can only stare at them with his throat going dry.
'Holy Crap… They are super sexy.
When he was about to think about the sea again, he saw them approaching him, which certainly did shock him a lot, but the excitement was overwhelming; his pants almost got a bulge, almost!! Because one of them leaned very close to his ear.
"Don't worry about the money, honey!! We will pay you instead." Wink.
That voice…
That whisper…
Leon had never heard such a manly whisper in his life; his jaw dropped, and the bulge that was almost forming went back inside like a scared little turtle going back in its shell.
"I… I don't, I am not, no way."
Stammering while shaking his head frantically, he expressed every English "NO" he knew and even took a step back instinctively.
"Okay, don't be scared."
"I am not scared; it's just I am not that way, sorry."
"Alright, we would've paid you a thousand dollars."
Saying that, they walked ahead while Leon stood there with a stupefied look on his face; a thousand dollars was enough to get his hungry stomach some food while also giving him a roof over his head.
'It's like taking a huge dump, right?
'What am I thinking? I'd rather die.
Shaking his head from depraved thought, he stood there in the sand; the thoughts of suicide diminished a lot in his head after this encounter, and the depressed emotion was replaced by a smirk instead.
'How much more unlucky can I get?
Life was never fair to him: an orphan at five, living in an orphanage like trash, getting kidnapped once, getting expelled from high school for someone else's prank, and now being robbed of everything he has amassed over his 23 years of life, which was two shirts and a pair of jeans.
'W…Why me?
Staring at the sky, his smirk turned into a mocking smile; as a devout Christian, he was not even blaming God, he was just mocking his life.
[Ding!!]
As he closed his eyes, a gentle church gong went into his head, and a frown appeared on his brows because he really didn't curse the God; he was raised in an orphanage run by the church, so there was no way he would blaspheme God.
[Ding!! [Blinking System Awakened.]
[One Blink = 0.50 €]
[Level 1: Please use €100,000 to level up the system for more benefits.]
[Current Balance: 1€]
[You can withdraw cash or go to the bank to get an instant tax statement.]
[The system will never jeopardise the host's legal safety.]
A series of weird noises in his head forced him to open his eyes; instead of the calm sea, all he was seeing was a holographic panel, where a bunch of stuff was written in French. The glowing panel was so eye-catching that the whole beach should've looked in his direction, but instead they were walking along as usual.
"Wh…what is this?"
"Don't tell me!! GOLDEN FINGER?!!!! "
He yelled at the top of his lungs; the entire gathering of people who were ignoring him all this while looked at him now. Everyone looked annoyed; nobody wanted to be disturbed by a half-naked dude on the beach.
"Yo! Shut the fuck up."
"Go back to your country."
A small water bottle came flying; Leon let it hit his head because he wanted to feel this moment. With a big grin, he accepted this bottle; he was expecting the panel, which was supposed to be his illusion, to be gone after the hit, but it was there even after his head had swollen red.
"Ow…hehe, it doesn't hurt at all, not even a single bit. I LOVE YOU, THAILAND."
He didn't stay there after yelling the last part in English; he ran, ran with a smile that was of a man that has seen everything in this world, a man that felt free, and the tears that were running down his cheek proved his relief.
"Let's check the system interface in a secluded place."
BEEEP
A horn, a loud as fuck horn, tore his eardrum apart. Running wildly on the street was never a good thing, and crossing it blindly was even worse. A mammoth of a truck came out of nowhere, and before Leon could understand anything, he was hit by it.
The last thing he saw was a fat statue smirking at him, seated on the bumper of that truck; then his vision blurred, and everything was covered in dark red.
'What was I expecting?
'Sorry, Sister Meelah, I… I guess I won't be able to buy food for the kids this year.
"I…I died? Finally I can rest?"
"With a regret-filled heart, I must tell you, your life has indeed come to an end."
With a happy smile Leon sat on the invisible floor suspended above the clouds; the round earth looked small from here, but Leon had better things to stare at. In front of him stood a man in plain white clothes and a face full of beard.
"You don't seem sad, Sigh! With how your life has been, I suppose there's barely any cause for you to live."
With a gentle smile, he sat beside Leon; his aura was very comforting, and Leon felt like he was finally home. He was finally going to be free from all the suffering.
"Not yet, my child; you cannot rest just yet."
"What do you mean?"
Leon looked at his Saviour with a curious gaze; the man in white pointed upward. Leon followed his gesture and saw a gaping black hole; it looked like someone tore up the space.
"W…What happened?"
"Your system – that was a different dimension being. Your luck invited it over."
"I…but I don't think I have that much luck."
"You don't, but you had the Eternal Unlucky Curse; even that being has died when it entered your body, giving you a system and relieving your curse in the process."
"Am I that unlucky?"
With a hopeless look, Leon uttered, making the white-clothed divine being chuckle.
"Not anymore. You are free from that curse, or, in your language, you are normal now, but I will merge a stone with your body to permanently kill that thing in your body."
"I simply don't know what will happen to your system, but you'll be safe."
A glowing white stone appeared in his hand, then he gently pressed it into Leon's chest; with a single motion, it disappeared into Leon like it was never there in the first place.
"I can live without a system. If I am normal, that can be the best outcome."
