"Welcome to the fifth floor, the Dimension Hall."
The Dimension Hall had no walls to speak of. It was an otherworldly space that looked like a vast spread of constellations, like a room draped in the night sky. Every star and nebula was in constant, gentle motion.
And the most impressive thing about it was the portal in the center of the hall. It looked similar to a dungeon gate, a gaping archway filled with pitch-black emptiness. Its surface rippled with high-density magic. When I first heard the name 'Dimension Hall,' I had my suspicions, but to think it was actually…
"This is the Warp Gate," Ea announced. "The fifth floor is where spatial magic is possible."
"Yes!" A cheer escaped my lips. Finally, I had the teleportation I had dreamed of! With nine floors in the tower, I had figured at least one had to be related to space.
Bora peered around the Warp Gate with curiosity. "Can we go anywhere in the world with this?"
"Of course."
"Then, Ea, is the reverse also possible?" Seojin asked.
"Yes. No matter where you are in the world, if you draw the Warp Gate's Interlocking magic circle, you can open a portal that leads directly to this floor."
'This is seriously the best.'
My eyes shining, I gazed at the Warp Gate. With this, the Magic Tower's operational range could extend beyond Korea to the entire world. Alchemia could also begin to seriously expand its business overseas.
Ea rummaged through the blueprint cases on one wall, then pulled one out and handed it to me. "Tower Master, please learn and use this magic circle."
"What's this?"
"It is called the Interlocking Circle, the most basic dimensional magic circle. It is the magic that connects a passage to the Warp Gate."
"Aha! So this is the 'door.'" For example, if I drew this magic circle in London, a warp to the Dimension Hall would open. I could then come and go as I pleased until my mana ran out.
"Then we can use the fifth-floor gate even if we're the ones who make the portal?" Bora asked, her face lighting up.
"Of course," Ea confirmed.
"Then this technology is a dream! Now I don't have to make the tough commute between the Academy and the Magic Tower!"
Everyone gathered around to examine the Interlocking Circle. The other three were Circle mages now and could read magic formulas, but…
"…What is all this?"
"It's so hard!"
This wasn't a typical magic circle. As magic that moved through dimensions, it required a completely different branch of knowledge. It was like the difference between chemistry and physics within the same field of science.
'Hmm, but I think I can manage it somehow.'
By conquering the fifth floor, I had obtained the 'Warp Engineering Lv.5' trait. With a little time and research, it didn't seem too difficult.
"Ea," I asked, "do the warp spells we create only connect to the fifth floor?"
"No. Once a fifth-floor administrator is appointed, it will be possible to install gates directly in other locations. The gates can be linked to each other. For example, if we install warp gates in Seoul and New York, even ordinary people could use them freely without ever having to enter the Magic Tower."
They say the most natural smile appears when thinking about money, and that was exactly what I was doing right now. New business models were flooding my mind. Beyond simply increasing revenue, having this would allow the global hunter community to become even more closely connected when a massive Disaster like Nemesis approached.
"It may be in the distant future," Ea continued, "but if the fifth floor's technology advances further, it will become possible to interfere with dimensions and create warp magic that connects to dungeons or other worlds."
"Traveling to other worlds…" Bora muttered in disbelief.
Ea quietly swept her hand along the wall. "The fact that Erendel's Magic Tower came all the way to Earth is likely thanks to the fifth floor's technology."
"That makes sense."
Just then, Eunsol tugged on my pant leg. "Yusin! Yusin! Are you going to pick a fifth-floor administrator now?"
"Of course. We need to pick a new one." It seemed I needed to appoint one right away. Fortunately, I was currently training five top-prospect mages. One for the fourth floor's Weather Design Bureau and another for the fifth floor's Dimension Hall. That seemed like the best plan.
"However, Tower Master," Ea cautioned, "the fifth-floor administrator will require considerable professional competence."
With those words, she walked over to the wall where a handle was attached. Right, I had been wondering what that was for. When Ea pulled it, a thin panel slid out with a soft 'whirr'.
'This is…!'
The extremely esoteric dimensional formulas were enough to give me a headache. In the center, something like a black hole seethed.
"This is the blueprint for creating a single Warp Gate," Ea explained.
"…That's insane," I let out a hollow laugh. The other three couldn't even bring themselves to look at it.
This was a blueprint that required a true expert in dimensional mechanics. Anyone with mediocre knowledge would likely freeze up just from looking at the theories involved. Moreover, according to 'The Fundamentals of Magic', spatial magic was notoriously prone to accidents. A considerable amount of specialized knowledge was needed to avoid becoming lost in another dimension.
'I really need to pick the fifth-floor administrator carefully.'
Ea pushed the blueprint back in. With a click, the panel slid completely into the wall. The constellations that had been stationary began to move once more.
