"[Taunt]!" Aria and Kelsey exclaimed in unison, two of the Lesser Demons snarling and charging at them.
"Humans, we...we...kill!" Roared one of them, as it closed in on Aria.
I shot towards the third one as she ducked under the swing of its claws before striking its lower jaw with a fierce uppercut, a snarl of pain ringing out as several of its fangs flew out.
"Die...human!" Roared the one I was targeting, extending out its claws as it flew up.
"<Command: Get Over Here>."
"Wh-What...you do...to me?!" It snapped, trembling as it began to steadily fly down towards, before hovering in front of me as I drew out my blade.
I whipped my arm across, slashing through its neck and decapitating it, its head falling off and hitting the ground with a thud.
As its body collapsed onto its knees and fell over, blood gushing out of the stump left around its neck, I glanced back as a loud crash rang out.
Kelsey had slammed her warhammer straight onto the head of the Lesser Demon she'd drawn to her, its skull completely crushed and smashed against the ground.
Aria had killed hers too.
So, these were Lesser Demons, huh?
I know they're Mid Level Monsters, and despite being Demons-...the only type of Monster species capable of speaking, at least as far as we know...-they're not all that intelligent, so their speech tends to be pretty broken and stilted.
They may be able to speak, but evidently, they attack just as wildly and recklessly as most other Monster species. They may kinda look like the Greater Demon I fought, but that's where the similarities end.
Also, Lesser Demons don't have hair. Or horns. And they don't have the ability to regenerate.
Demons, the High Level evolution of Lesser Demons, have hair and a single horn, either on the left or right side of their heads, and much higher intelligence, plus they can regenerate.
And Greater Demons have two horns, on either side of their head, and they have a stronger regenerative ability than Demons do.
But as powerful as Greater Demons are, as I've experienced firsthand, they're not the final evolution of Demons.
The strongest version of Demons are the Archdemons, Calamity Level Monsters.
Their discerning trait is that they have a third horn on the middle of their heads, and they can regenerate almost instantly from almost any injury.
Well, anyway, with the first floor cleared without a problem, we continued on once I used Devour on the corpses.
Assuming this Dungeon sticks to the standard patterns, the first half of so of this raid will consist of a steadily increasing number of Lesser Demons, followed by a steadily increasing number of Demons in the second half.
And the Dungeon Boss will be a Greater Demon.
But I've experienced Dungeons deviating from the standard patterns more than once, so it's a possibility I can't ever rule out until the raid is over.
We soon made it to the second floor, which had just two Lesser Demons.
We breezed past them without breaking a sweat, before proceeding to the third floor. And then the fourth, and fifth...before long, we'd cleared the tenth floor, and had encountered no more than five Lesser Demons on any single floor.
"Maybe I'm missing something since this is my first High Level raid and all, but, uh...this seems way too easy," I remarked, as we began heading to the eleventh floor.
"Yes, I agree. I'm certainly not complaining about how smooth and fast our progress has been, but something isn't right here," Frowned Kelsey warily.
"Tch, our progress would be even faster if he wasn't slowing us down by using that grotesque power to eat all the Monsters," Spoke up Keira.
Just ignore her, this is no place to get riled up.
"Keira, for the love of-...could you please behave? He only takes a few seconds to do that, it's no big deal, certainly nothing worth complaining over," Responded Kelsey, looking like she was holding back from snapping.
I kinda feel bad, I'm sort of becoming a cause of friction in their relationship. But, well, I haven't done anything wrong, so it wouldn't be fair to say I'm to blame for this.
"Getting back to the matter at hand, there definitely have been an unusually low number of Monsters so far. But it's still too early to say that it's deviated from the standard patterns," Chimed in Aria prudently.
True, this is still only the tenth floor out of over seventy. But it's definitely been strangely easy so far, even compared to some of the Mid Level Dungeons I've been in.
I've barely gained any points at all so far, these Lesser Demons aren't netting me much.
"I suppose our only option is to proceed with caution," Mused Kelsey warily, before glancing at the Detector and adding, "We'll be counting on your Detection Magic, so let us know if you're running low on Mana."
"Got it, I'll be fine for a while yet, Captain, but I'll be sure to speak up if I need a break."
"And Damien, keep conserving your Mana. We don't need any Enchantments against Lesser Demons, so stay in reserve with your Mana Recovery and Stamina Recovery Spells, we'll need them eventually.
If this Dungeon really is deviating from the standard patterns, the difficulty level could suddenly spike, so we'll need to stay as close to our best as we can while proceeding through the floors," Reasoned Kelsey objectively.
"Yeah, okay," He nodded listlessly.
It's been a while since I've had Enchantments cast on me, there were a few Enchanters in my class at the Academy, I worked with a couple of them on two of the Practical Training exam raids, but this is the first time I've been in a party with an Enchanter since becoming a Hunter.
"Alright, let's keep moving. Keep your guards up everyone, we can't be too careful," Remarked Kelsey, before we began continuing to proceed through the Dungeon...
