Chapter 331: Joint Training (Part 6)

"So, how much of my power would you like me to use?" I inquired, stretching as the barrier formed around the training area.

"Use your full power. It may well only be a matter of time before I end up facing a Calamity Level Threat, so I'd like to see how well I can hold my own against power on that level," Responded Zian, his weapons already drawn.

"Alright, then. By the way, real quick, what do you call those weapons?" I asked him curiously.

"Huh? Oh, I just call them chain-blades. Not particularly creative, I know," He replied with a sheepish smile.

"Nothing wrong with that," I grinned, before letting out a slow exhale as I focused up and chanted, "<Enrage>, <Descent>."

Zian sprang into action immediately and shot towards me as I unleashed my full power and transformed, letting out a slow exhale as the purple energy flowed around me, before I drew out Desecrator as he closed in on me.

He got low and lunged forward, water swirling around his chain-blades as he whipped the left one across at my waist while simultaneously swinging the right one up towards my face.

I unleashed a burst of Negative Energy around myself, knocking his blades back as his feet skidded back across the ground, managing to maintain his balance before leaping across to his right as I fired out a rapid Negative Energy blast at him.

I took aim with my left index finger and fired a couple of Pulse Bullets, he twisted his body across to evade the first out and rapidly whipped one of his chain-blades up to block the second one.

As he sprinted towards me again, he ducked down as I fired out a slashing wave of Negative Energy towards him, the attack whizzing over the top of his head and severing a couple of strands of hair.

He stayed low as he closed in and unfurled a rapid swing of his left chain-blade across at my neck, while driving the other one straight towards my stomach, the chain stiffening and straightening up.

I grabbed the blade zipping in towards my neck, clasping it between my fingers, as I blocked the thrust of the other one with the face of my blade, a sharp clang ringing out upon impact.

"I see, those chains can turn erect, allowing you to thrust and stab like a regular blade," I remarked, as he sprang back several paces, getting some distance.

"Yeah, that's right, the material they're made off stiffens when pure Mana is channeled through it. Casting Skills doesn't have that effect since the Mana is infused with the effect of the Skill, meaning it isn't pure Mana," He explained with a smile.

Fascinating. I wasn't aware of such a material. I suppose it's not particularly relevant to me, such a weapon wouldn't suit my fighting style.

Now, then, I suppose it's time I fight him more earnestly.

His eyes widened as I shot forward at full speed, slashing at his chest as I closed in on him. He leapt across to his right as fast as he could, letting out a sharp gasp of pain as my blade sliced deeply through his left bicep, the tip of the blade nicking the bone as blood streamed down his arm, his left chain-blade falling out of his grasp and thudding against the ground.

He spun around and sprang back as slipped behind him and reached out for the back of his head, swiftly pulling my arm back as he whipped his left blade up with a flick of his wrist.

I lunged forward as he began to back away, grabbing his throat and lifting him up off his feet, before swinging my arm out and hurling him away.

He let out a sharp gasp as his back slammed onto the wall of the barrier, gritting his teeth as his feet thudded against the floor, leaning against the barrier as he tried to regain his bearings.

He then quickly rolled out of the way to his right as I fired out a rapid blast of Negative Energy, before I zipped up into the air and swooped down towards him as he narrowly evaded it.

As I fired out a sharp burst of Negative Energy to propel myself down, his chain-blade stiffened up, intense, pressurized water swirling around it as he lifted his gaze up towards me...

"[Super Accel Water Strike]!" He exclaimed, as he drove the blade up towards the middle of my forehead.

I swung my left arm up and across, striking the side of the stiffened chain with the back of my fist, diverting the trajectory of his thrust away, before I swung my blade down towards the top of his head.

Right as the edge of my blade closed in on him, he disappeared as the barrier activated and teleported him to safety, reappearing outside the barrier.

I landed with a soft thud, sheathing my blade before letting out a slow exhale as I reverted back to my normal state...

Whew, I don't think I'll ever truly get used to the way my mindset changes with Enrage, it's such a drastic shift.

"You alright there, Guildmaster?" Inquired Cameron, as he jogged over towards Zian and healed him, the gash across his bicep rapidly closing up.

I picked up the weapon he'd dropped when I cut his arm, before making my way across the training area and approaching him.

"I am now, thank you," He smiled gratefully, as he got back onto his feet.

"Sorry about that," I apologized sheepishly, as I handed his weapon back to him.

"Hm? You have no reason to apologize, I can handle a bit of pain. And it definitely would've been a lot worse if I'd been fighting a Calamity Level Monster, they would've actively tried to kill me instead of going easy on me like you did," He replied with a wry smile.

Well, not necessarily...in my experience, some of them seem to enjoy toying with their opponents instead of just going for the kill.

Anyway, I suppose this wraps up the joint training session. Looks like Ciel and Rex already left.

Gotta say, this was pretty productive, we should definitely do this again, and next time get the Diva Guild in on it too.
