Chapter 344: Ant Dungeon (Part 3)

"[Spiky Dome]!" Chanted Iqra, a dome-shaped barrier engulfing the party, covered in razor-sharp spikes.

Sharp, squelching crunches rang out as the several of the Monsters crashed onto the barrier and got skewered, the rest buzzing around and circling us.

We were upto the fiftieth floor now, and it's been nothing but Giant Flying Ants since we entered the thirty-first floor.

They're basically just Giant Ants with wings, they're physically pretty much the same otherwise.

But their speed through the air is a fair bit faster than their ground speed, so they are tougher to deal with that regular Giant Ants.

However, they're still considered one of the weakest Mid Level Monster species, and haven't posed any real problems.

Their numbers have been increasing at a similar rate to how the numbers of the Giant Ants increased.

Based on the pattern so far, we'll probably run into stronger threats after the sixtieth floor.

Now, then, time to focus up...

Iqra took down the barrier, the skewered Giant Flying Ants plummeting and hitting the ground with thuds, before the Attack Mages took action as the rest of the pack began to swoop down on us...

"[Ice Arrow Scattershot]!"

"[Stone Bullet Scattershot]!"

Several more of the Giant Flying Ants plummeted down as they got shot out of the air, before Brid raced forward as the Monsters scattered and spread out further, two of them swooping down towards him.

He spun across as one of them closed in on him, whipping his warhammer across with a sharp burst of speed, striking the side of its head with a loud crunch as he shattered its exoskeleton upon impact, before swiftly ducking as the other one zipped down and snapped its fangs at his head.

He tightened his grip on the handle of his hammer, before driving it straight up with a powerful thrust, slamming the head of the hammer against the middle of the Monster's underside, smashing through its exoskeleton and killing it.

Aria and I fired out blasts of Negative Energy to thin out the herd, before Brid and the Attack Mages finished them off, the area scattered with the corpses by the time they were done.

That was a group of twenty, we'll like face groups of above twenty and upto twenty-five over the next five floors, and then twenty-five to thirty for the five floors after that.

Brid and Iqra have continued to impress, they haven't had any trouble against these Mid Level Monsters. And the two Attack Mages have proven to be pretty reliable too, they're both fairly experienced.

The Ice Mage used to be a member of the Dragon Slayer Guild, and he's in his mid-thirties, so he's been a Hunter for quite a while.

The Earth Mage is a former member of the Paragon Guild, and she's in her late-twenties, so about a solid decade of experience there.

"Think we should take a break? It's been a while since our last one," Suggested Aria, as Brid headed back towards up, looking a bit winded.

"Yeah, sounds good. We're more than halfway through and we've been progressing at a pretty good pace, so we can afford to slow down a bit. Shouldn't be too much longer before we start encountering High Levels, and things will only get tougher from there," I nodded thoughtfully, before calling out to the others, "Alright, guys, time for a quick break! Make sure to hydrate and eat something if you're feeling especially tired."

"Sweet, my feet were starting to get sore."

"Same, guess I'm a bit rusty."

"Yeah, it's hard to simulate the stress and tension of a raid in training, the mental fatigue isn't really a problem during training."

I brought out some healthy snacks-...stuff like granola bars, fruits and yogurt...-and bottles of water as we took a seat on the ground.

"This storage power of yours sure is convenient. I bet you'd need to lug around a ton of water and snacks usually," Remarked Brid, as he peeled a banana and took a bite.

"Yup, we Support Mages would usually be tasked with carrying the supplies. It's not a problem in Low and Mid Level Dungeons, but the extra weight seriously wears you down in High and Critical Level Dungeons," Responded the Enchanter with a wry smile, before adding, "Oh, I should probably recover everyone's stamina and Mana...[Stamina Recovery], [Mana Recovery]."

"Ah, that feels good!" The Ice Mage sighed contentedly.

Those Spells have a thirty minute cooldown per target, and we can cover about two to three floors in that time.

We've been having the Enchanter only use the Spells on everyone besides Aria and myself.

While I haven't absorbed any Mana or stamina from any of the Monsters-...I haven't even drawn Desecrator once yet...-I haven't really expended all that much energy today.

With the immense stamina reserves Aria and I possess, just walking around like this hardly wears us down at all.

We're basically at a hundred percent, we haven't really done anything other than provide the bare minimum amount of backup to the others with a few Negative Energy attacks here and there.

Well, that's unlikely to last much longer, we'll almost certainly play a more active role in this raid once the High Level Monsters start to appear.

"Now that we've cleared the fiftieth floor, more than halfway through the Dungeon, how are you two holding up? The ground we've already covered is more than double the length of the Dungeons you've been in before, after all, and there's still more than forty floors to go," I pointed out, as Iqra munched on a granola bar and spilled some crumbs on herself.

"I'm feeling great! Honestly, it feels like both of you being here is kinda overkill," Grinned Brid, as he glanced between Aria and I.

"D-Don't say stuff l-like that, y-you're just asking for things t-to go wrong," Frowned Iqra warily.

"Heh, my bad."

"Um...I feel fine t-too. I-I think my timing with casting m-my Spells is getting a b-bit better," Remarked Iqra awkwardly.

"Yeah, I'd say so. The last barrier you cast, the timing was spot-on. If you can shorten your casting speed, you should be able to utilize your Magic with more versatility, but you're already at a pretty high level as is, so just keep steadily working at it," Replied Aria with a smile.

"I, um...o-okay, I will, thank you," She nodded, an encouraged gleam in her eyes.
