Chapter 375: The Dark Elf

I let out a slow exhale as I deactivated Enrage and reverted to my base form, before wiping my sleeve across my brow.

I'm exhausted...I'm down to about a third of my Mana, and my stamina is seriously worn down too.

But this isn't over yet...

"Whoever you are, show yourself," I called out as I glanced in the direction the dark blue arrows had come from.

A few seconds passed, before a figure appeared atop the cliff, sliding down and landing on the pile of Monster corpses. It was a guy, he almost looked human, except that he had long pointy ears.

That's...not a Monster, is it? He kinda looks like what I'd imagine an Elf to look like, or maybe a Dark Elf.

"Are you...are you really human?" He responded warily.

Wait...hey, Ai, how is it that I'm able to understand him? And how did he understand me? For that matter, how was that Archdemon able to understand me?

Monsters gain the ability to understand English through the Dungeons, or more specifically, the Demon Lord, right?

Since that Archdemon and Wind Dragon are both Generals, the Demon Lord probably gave them the ability to understand me, so-...

<Actually, no>

<Both of them were speaking the language of this world, and so is this newcomer>

<I've just been translating their language to English in your head, and also translating what you say to their language>

<I learned their language from Luxuria a while back>

<I've been applying to same effect to Superbia and Invidia too>

Huh, cool.

"Yeah, I'm human. I'm not from this world, though," I responded, before adding, "So, what about you? Who are you?"

"I am Idra Kriuboros, the last of the Dark Elves. And the last of the intelligent non-Monster races," He introduced himself, still looking a bit suspicious of me.

Looks like I was right, he really is a Dark Elf.

He had long, unkempt blue hair, jet-black eyes with dark circles under his eyes, and short, scruffy facial hair, with a light brown complexion.

He was on the taller side, with a lanky, agile build, and he was missing his right arm from around the elbow, his arms covered in scars.

He had a long, diagonal scar across his face too, starting at the left side of his forehead and extending down to his right jawline.

He was wearing pretty tattered clothes, black trousers that had been worn down to around his knees, and a dark gray cloak that went halfway down his calves, full of tears and frayed edges.

"I'm sure we've both got a lot of questions for each other, but how about we go somewhere more secluded? I'd prefer not to stay out here in the open, in case more Monsters show up," I remarked warily.

"Very well. But first, I must ask...what are they?" He inquired as he glanced at the Apostles of Sin.

"Oh, they're my summons, I can resurrect the souls of those I've killed and bring them back under my command."

"I see, then you are some kind of necromancer?"

"Uh, not exclusively, but sort of, I guess? Alright, let's get going, shall we?" I replied, before heading away from the area, the Dark Elf following after me.

Probably shouldn't take him to our hideout yet, I know nothing about this guy, so best err on the side of caution. I'll find a secluded area on the map.

In the meantime, let's have a look at what this guy's capable of, Appraisal:

Personal Details:

Name: Idra Kriuboros

Age: ???

Gender: Male

Height: 6'3"

Weight: 94 KG

Skills:

Ether Generation

Flora Control

High Elemental Resistance

Status Effect Immunity

Stats:

HP: 1850

MP: 2744

Strength: 1901

Agility: 2837

Vitality: 1800

Perception: 2892

Power Level: 2,337,300

Not too bad, he's not quite as strong as Archdemons and Dragons are, but he's no slouch either.

He said he's the last of his kind, I wonder how long he's been by himself, fighting against the Monsters?

By the way, Ai...how come Appraisal always fails to determine the ages of beings from this world?

Every Monster I've ever used Appraisal on, their ages are always question marks, and the same goes for this guy too. Why is that?

<Unsure, trying to discern the ages of those from this world always results in an error message for some reason, I don't know why>

I see.

Anyway, we soon found a safe place to talk, a small clearing within a dense grove of trees, before I took a seat on the grass, letting out a quiet sigh as a pleasant breeze blew across.

The Dark Elf, Idra, sat across me, glancing at Raixel and Luxuria with a slight grimace, looking a bit restless and uneasy.

"<Withdraw, Apostles of Lust, Envy, Sloth and Pride: Luxuria, Invidia, Acedia and Superbia>," I chanted, Idra's eyes widening slightly in surprise as the four of them disappeared, before I added, "Alright, that should make it a bit easier for you to relax and speak freely, right? Not that you had any reason to worry...they were my enemies when they were alive, but they're loyal to me now, they won't step out of line without my permission."

"I see..."

"Anyway, why don't you go first? Pretty sure you've got a much longer story than I do, so it's probably for the best if you go first," I suggested with a smile.

"Yes, I have no objections to that. As I already told you, I am the last of the Dark Elves and non-Monster races...well, excluding the few humans that were enslaved. Actually, I suppose any humans that are still alive would be descendants of those who were enslaved, considering how short humans live," He mused thoughtfully.

"Exactly how long have you been alone for-...?" I began, before trailing off as he burst out into a sharp coughing fit, adding as he glanced at his hand with a grimace, blood splattered across his palm, "Uh, are you okay?"

"Y-Yes, I am fine, just slowly dying, nothing more. And to answer your question...I am not quite sure how long I've been by myself, I stopped keeping track after a century or so."
