Sinner System

Chapter 386: First Seat Nereszu Ryokrin (Part 1)

Damn it, I managed to cast Appraisal before he activated his Nullification Zone, but I can't bring up my System screens.

<Fortunately, I can still communicate with you>

Yeah, that's something, at least. Let's see:

That's easily the highest Power Level I've ever seen in a Monster. He's strong, this is going to be tough...I can't use any of my abilities, but he can.

"My, that surprised me. I did not expect you to be able to react like that in your weakened state. It is not simply power alone, but skill as well. You really are a threat," He mused thoughtfully, before firing out a drilling beam of Negative Energy towards me.

I leapt across to my right, rolling away before quickly springing back onto my feet as he shot towards me rapidly, narrowly blocking as he swung his claws across at me, a sharp clang ringing out as his claws collided against my blade, cracks spreading out across his claws upon impact.

I tensed as he suddenly grabbed my left leg with his tail and yanked it back, pulling me off-balance, my back thudding against the ground.

I gritted my teeth as I hit the ground with a jarring impact and swung my right foot up as he drove his claws towards my head, an agonized wheeze ringing out as I slammed my foot against his balls, a deep cut appearing across my left cheek as I quickly tilted my head to the right, the edge of one of his claws tearing through my skin, nicking the middle of my ear.

I wrenched my leg free of the grasp of his tail as he shakily stumbled back, clutching his crotch, before I sprang back onto my feet and leapt towards him, a sharp yell ringing out as I whipped my blade across at his head, the tip of the blade slicing across his eyes as he arched his upper body back, before an intense burst of Negative Energy erupted around him, pushing me back along the ground.

"D-Damn you, th-that was a cheap shot...!" He growled indignantly.

"Let me use my Magic and I won't need to resort to cheap shots. Go on," I taunted him with a smirk, before adding, "Also, I was under the impression that you guys want me alive. But it definitely seems like you're trying to kill me."

"O-Oh...yes, my orders are to capture you alive, thank you for reminding me," He responded, his expression tensing for a moment, before he shot up into the air and unleashed a fierce volley of Negative Energy blasts down towards me.

I raced across the area as fast as I could, the shadowy projectiles raining down and peppering the ground, deafening crashes ringing out as the blasts erupted upon impact, bits of dirt and ash flying out all over the place.

I weaved through the area to evade the blasts, coughing as thick, ashy clouds of dust rose up all around me, wracking my brain...I can't land any attacks while he's up in the air, I have no way to hit him right now.

And my Regeneration isn't working either, so I can't afford to let him land any serious blows against me.

The Mana and stamina absorbing effect of Desecrator has been nullified too, and I probably can't use Return to recall it, so throwing it at him is out of the question.

Damn it, this is really starting to piss me off-...

<Your Rage Meter is at one percent>

<I can't bring up the display, but it's definitely appeared>

Huh? Oh, that's right...Obliterate isn't fueled by Mana!

Well, alright, then...

I continued evading the incoming blasts, just barely avoiding them as the cloud of ash and dust grew thicker and thicker with every blast, the visibility in the area steadily decreasing.

But that goes both ways, it won't be long before he completely loses sight of me. He might not stop firing even after that, but he'll be shooting blindly, which should make it easier to evade.

Still, though, this is really tough, it's getting harder and harder to spot the blasts...I need to focus, keep my eyes peeled for the shadowy glow of Negative Energy, and watch for any shifts in the flow of the dust and ash.

I grimaced as bits of dirt smacked the side of my head as one of his blasts slammed onto the ground near me, before I leapt forward to evade another one, a loud crash ringing out behind me.

Sure enough, it wasn't more than a few more seconds before the accuracy of his aim dropped, his blasts hitting random spots all around the area.

Suddenly, the barrage ceased, a few seconds ticking by before my eyes widened as I caught a glimpse of a large, shadowy glow, racing away as fast as I could as it suddenly shot down with immense force.

I got blown off my feet and sent hurtling across the air as a massive, pressurized wave of Negative Energy blasted the middle of the area.

My right shoulder slammed against the ground before I skidded across the ashen dirt, coming to a sliding halt and letting out a cough, right as he started unleashing another flurry of Negative Energy blasts.

<Rage Meter at seven percent>

Not enough, not yet.

I quickly swung my blade across as a jagged rock came shooting towards me, launched by the force upon impact as a Negative Energy blasts slammed onto the ground in front of me.

I struck the rock with the side of my blade and knocked it away, before letting out another cough, gritting my teeth and sprinting across the area as he fired the blasts down relentlessly.

I get it, he's decided to keep his distance and try to overwhelm me with Negative Energy...has he already forgotten that he's supposed to take me in alive?
