Sinner System

Chapter 394: Reunion (Part 2)

"Huh. That's a lot to take in...so, people have superpowers now? And you're the strongest superhero?" She remarked in bewilderment.

"Well, not exactly superheroes, but close enough, I guess. Yeah, thanks to the Sinner System I got because of the request you made, I'm the strongest person on Earth."

"Not gonna lie, your powers coming from something called a Sinner System is giving me some mixed feelings. I mean, I'm not going to tell you to be a goody two-shoes or something, that's no way to enjoy life, you need a bit of sin here and there to make the most of life, but...I just hope you aren't being too much of a degenerate," She replied with a wry smile.

"Wha-...hey, come on, have some faith in me, mom," I huffed indignantly, before adding, "I basically have one main rule for this life, to live as I please, so long as I don't hurt anyone in the process.

I don't step on others for my own benefit...well, unless they're assholes who deserve to be taken down a peg or two, but otherwise, I think I'm generally pretty respectful of others."

"Okay, that's good. I also feel pretty conflicted about you fighting deadly Monsters for a living, and it's a bit concerning that you enjoy it.

But considering what you went through in your previous life, I suppose it's only natural that you would have ended up with a couple of screws loose.

That said, overall, you seem pretty well-adjusted and like you turned out okay, so all in all, I'm happy for you, kiddo. Live a life with no regrets...well, I suppose I don't need to tell you that, do I?"

"Mhm, I fully intend to live life to the fullest, you don't have to worry about that. I-...," I began.

"Ahem...sorry to interrupt, but you're almost out of time. I can give you another minute at most, so you should start saying your goodbye," Samara chimed in.

"Huh? But...," I trailed off, wanting more time with her.

"Hey, it's okay...I wish we had more time too, but it's enough knowing that you're enjoying life and prospering, so I'm satisfied. Know that I'll always love you, Kai, and I'm so proud of you.

Standing strong like this after everything you went through, I couldn't be prouder to call you my son," She remarked, as she placed her hand on my cheek.

I nodded as I placed my hand over hers, holding back the tears as I met her gaze with a smile.

"The feeling's mutual, mom, you're the best mother I could ever ask for, losing you was the worst thing that ever happened to me. I'll continue living a life that you'd be proud of. I love you, mom."

She suddenly began glowing, turning transparent and slowly fading away.

"Oh, it looks like my time is almost up. I'm so glad I got to talk to you one last time, Kai. Goodbye, kiddo...I love you," She smiled affectionately, before giving me a kiss on the forehead.

"Goodbye, mom. Thank you, for everything," I replied warmly.

She grinned cheerfully as she gave me a wave, reaching out for the top of my head, her hand touching my hair right as she faded away.

A single tear ran down the right side of my face, a bittersweet warmth in my chest. Saying goodbye to her hurt, but...even so, I'm glad I got the chance to say goodbye.

"Rest assured, I've reincarnated her into a world where she's all but certain to live a happy, peaceful life. So, are you ready to head back to reality?

I'll send you back to the exact moment before I brought you here, and like I already mentioned, you'll have five seconds of invincibility once you return," Remarked Samsara, as she reappeared before me.

"Yeah, I'm ready to make my return. I'm feeling pretty amped up right now," I grinned, as I cracked my knuckles.

"Good luck. Hm, I probably shouldn't do this, but...I'm going to give you a temporary, extra boost to your luck, to raise your chances of success. It'll only last for about five minutes, but that's five minutes of plot armor, so enjoy it while it lasts," She smiled, before snapping her fingers.

The white glow surrounding me began to intensify, growing brighter and brighter. Right as I lost sight of her, I felt an incredible, immense surge of power inside me, before I found myself plummeting through the Mana Current.

I swiftly unleashed a burst of Negative Energy from my feet to halt my descent and launch myself up, chanting under my breath to unleash Descent and spreading out my wings as they manifested before zipping up rapidly, charging through the air towards the platform.

I reached it and landed behind Nereszu, forming a blade of Negative Energy as he stiffened, before driving the blade forward with a powerful thrust of my arm.

"[Nullification Zo-...]...aghh!" He gasped in pain, as I pierced straight through his Core, a violent shudder of agony erupting across his body.

"Before you die...<Command: Where is Fenelza?>," I chanted, as he coughed out blood with an agonized wheeze.

"S-Second floor...third door...to the...left...," He uttered with a sharp gasp, before convulsing in pain as I pulled the Negative Energy blade back out with a violent twist, shattering his Core.

"Bye bye, now," I remarked, as I grabbed the back of his collar and flung him back, tossing him into the Mana Current.

Streaks of blood sprayed out of his stab wound and mouth as he plummeted towards the dense concentration of Mana, a brief yell of agony ringing out as he got swallowed up and disappeared.

Hm, looks like that divine energy that made me invincible has faded already. Well, that's fine, I just needed it to survive getting out of the Mana Current.

Now, then...

"<Emerge, Apostles of Lust, Envy, Sloth, Pride and Wrath: Luxuria, Invidia, Acedia, Superbia and Ira>."

<I've already updated them all on the situation>

Good.

"Alright, guys, this is it...ready to get out of here?"

"<Hell, yeah, Boss>!"

"<It's about time, it's been way too long since I got a good gooning sesh in>!"

"<I can't wait to see people's reactions to my new form, I bet they'll be really taken aback>."

"<I want to sleep for a while after we're back>."

"<I shall follow your lead, Chief>."

"Cool...I'd prefer not to waste any time, so I'll use Devour to eat straight up through the ceiling," I declared, as I turned my gaze up.
