Heavenly Damned Player

Chapter 159: Broken Potentials

Halo was sweating. Delilah's eyes felt like they wanted to pull his soul out of him. It was her first time looking at him, and he didn't like it. Yet, something soft lived beneath that stare.

"If you're willing, we need to know what your clones are capable of."

Halo frowned.

He didn't have any problem with that, but he knew nothing about their abilities, not even Leto's. He wasn't going to put his in the open without knowing anything about them.

"That would only be fair. I hardly know anything about your True Abilities."

Delilah's eyes narrowed slightly.

However, Leto hurried his words.

"Oh, I forgot, I never told you about my ability, did I?"

Leto sighed.

"It's called Thousand Hands. The ability enhances my hand's force output. In battle, that translates to the strength of a thousand people."

Halo's mouth parted in startlement. That was beyond OP. Actually, it helped him understand what he'd seen during Leto's fight. A flick of his fingers alone was enough to hurl wind that could blow Arlen away.

He gulped.

Omega rested in her seat, ceasing the aura in the room.

"I'll go next. My True Ability is Looks of Change. I can make anyone fall under my control with my looks… though it stops working if I wear the same outfit more than three times."

Halo nodded. He'd seen her True Ability in action before, but now he understood it better.

"Uhm…" White spoke, leaning slightly away from Brave as she had been trying to comfort him.

"My True Ability is Silent Desire. I haven't fully mastered it, so it doesn't always work. When I truly desire something from the depths of my being, it can happen, but it's never simple. My Only Sin, Despair, is tied to its use."

Halo blinked repeatedly in confusion.

"Anything at all? Like, if you truly desired a storm, it would come?"

White nodded energetically.

'Holy shit. She's practically a god. I'm in the presence of a goddess!!'

There was no way he was going to be on White's bad side. Never.

White began acting shy and all.

"It's not all that powerful. Because of the price for it."

Leto sneered.

"Stop rubbing it on our faces. Tsk."

None of this felt fair to Halo. He only wished the others had something normal.

Delilah stepped forward and gestured toward Brave, still broken by Nava's actions. White kept consoling him, but nothing helped.

"Brave's Inflammable Savage makes him a berserker. The more anger and hatred he or those around him feel, the stronger he becomes."

Halo ran a hand through his hair in relief. Great and all, but compared to Leto's and White's abilities, he was nothing but a child.

Delilah cleared her throat.

"I'd rather you not pry too much, but for fairness… my True Ability is Broken Mind. It causes anyone I face to question their choices, whether mentally or physically, making hesitation inevitable."

Halo's expression grew lazy. They had a Goddess in their midst, a cocky brat whose strength equaled a thousand people, a gorgeous lady who could control people, an arrogant fool who could feed on emotions to be stronger, and now a fucking bug?

Delilah was literally a bug in the system. Her True Ability could make even the strongest people and greatest minds question themselves.

He sighed in disappointment. He understood why Hazard believed they were strong enough to handle this on their own.

"My True Ability is Death Clone. I have three clones that can fight alongside us. For now, they're effectively immortal, I can revive them even if they're killed."

Delilah's expression darkened.

"That's impressive, but can we see them?"

Halo furrowed his brow.

"Uhm, you just saw Light about thirty minutes ago."

Delilah didn't look pleased with Halo's words.

"I need to see every clone. Strategy requires more than promises."

Halo's gaze snapped around the room. He wanted to see if it was big enough for Spineless.

"One of them is strong enough to shake this place apart. Unless you have a wider space, summoning it would be unwise."

Leto's eyes widened.

"Wait… are you speaking about Spineless? You cloned it?"

Halo nodded positively.

"Whoa, that's great."

Still, Leto's knowledge alone wasn't enough to quench Delilah's interest. She gestured for them to follow her to one of the training rooms.

In the training room, Halo made sure the coast was clear before he summoned Tough, Light, and Spineless.

Spineless was a wolf-like creature standing about twenty feet tall, its body nearly translucent except for the dark, ghostly nature that gave it away.

Beside Spineless was Tough. He could also increase his height, but at the moment, he wasn't anywhere near Spineless's height. Instead, his red glowing arc-like crown, red patterns, and bizarre appearance had them bemused.

Light, however, was just a compressed shadow form of Halo. They didn't care all that much.

Delilah tried to touch Spineless but her hand passed through. She turned to Halo with a gaze that felt like it would chew him alive.

"Calm down, would you?" Leto said and neared Spineless as well. "Spineless isn't something you can strike casually. To even touch it, your mind must be extraordinarily strong."

The moment Leto spoke, Halo gently approached Spineless and rested his hand on it.

"He's right. Without a mind of sufficient strength, Spineless can assault you, steal your memories, and you won't even be able to lay a hand on it."

Delilah was finally amused. For the first time, Halo saw her smile.

"This is very interesting. I think we can make very good use of it."

She turned to White.

"I want you to wish for a commotion among the Northern Mist. Let's see how they react when nothing goes their way. Since Nava knows all our abilities except Halo's, this will tell us whether they have a countermeasure."

White nodded positively.

"You have only three days to make this happen," Delilah added.

White frowned for a moment, as though three days weren't enough, but she returned to her usual self soon after.

"Halo, can you make your clones continue spying on them?"

"It will be my pleasure, pretty lady."

Light said with an elegant bow. Only Halo heard him, but his cocky act was enough to give the others an idea of his words.

"That will be all for now…" Delilah said.

It was obvious. Halo's clones would be more important to the mission than Halo himself. Such a pity.
