Mathius Bornell was sighing in his mind while standing inside the grand temple of the Celestial Maiden. After he had started to work for his new mistress, his troubles had only increased exponentially. Still he could not really complain about this matter as his income had also increased exponentially.
Mathius was extremely scared of the Faithful of the Celestial Maiden. They were so strong that it was unbelievable.
Even if all the nations of this world teamed up together, even then they would stand no chance against the faithful of the Celestial Maiden. They were just that strong.
But now Mathius had to do his mission while trying to keep them in the dark. And he had do all of this completely alone.
As Mathius was thinking about actually running away from this trouble and quitting his job, suddenly he felt someone approaching him. And the person who was approaching him was also a knight.
This made Mathius extra cautious. For a man like him, always being careful was a must need. Then as he looked toward his back, he saw a hooded figure coming toward him.
As he observed the figure, he guessed that this figure belonged to a young female. Now he was curious as for why this person was coming toward him.
As the lady finally appeared before him, their eyes met. Mathius's blue eyes met with a pair of pitch black and cold eyes. But even though the eyes were cold, they were also extremely beautiful.
As Mathius was thinking this, the person started speaking. And the words that came out of her mouth made him quite surprised.
"Your bravery is as blazing as the burning sky. Please allow me to invited you for a drink, gentleman."
What the lady had said sounded a little peculiar but it was a greetings none the less. But actually this was a secret code that his costumers used when doing business with him through a proxy.
This did make Mathius to calm down a little. These costumers were not aware of his true true indentity and only knew him as a mysterious merchant with some extremely rare and valuable items in his stock. They were not the people who were after his life.
But still there was possibility that his enemies were trying to lower his guard by acting as his customer. So he still maintained his cautious nature and started speaking with the proxy.
But the inside of the temple was definitely not a good place to have a conversation like this. For that reason, Mathius told the lady the location of a tavern and asked her to meet him there in the evening.
...
After Weiss was back again, Elise very curiously asked her about the person with whom she was speaking. Weiss did not give her much details for the time being and told her that she would explain everything later on.
Elise nodded her head hearing that. Weiss had asked her to stay away when she had approached the man so she had no idea what they had talked about. But whatever it was, Elise got the feeling that the conversation had went well for Weiss.
That was actually true. Weiss had thought that there was possibility that the secret code that she had learned from Count Falgur might not work after his death. But looked like this code was still valid.
Now she just needed to wait till the evening. Then she would be able to finally learn more about the magus and their world.
But there was still a lot of time left before evening so now she needed to complete the transaction with the temple of the Celestial Maiden first.
There was a high possibility that this person would ask for a huge sum to provide her with any information, so she needed to get the funds ready too.
She had also had the magic stones left behind by Jonus Souran with her. So in desparate situation, she could even use them to make a transaction with this man.
...
The business in the temple went quite smoothly for Weiss. Even though the amount of things that she had brought to exchange would be too much for most organisations, the priestess who was taking care of her did not even blink an eye and directly paid Weiss with the holy coins with a professional smile on her face.
Not just that but the price they had given to the items were all fair and very generous. It was truly something that showed the sincerity of this faith.
They were the worshipper of the Celestial Maiden who was supposed to be the symbol of Truth, Order and Justice. And the way the priests and priestesses behaved showed these qualities. Cheating someone of their money was not something that they were willing to ever do.
So after Weiss and Elise left the temple, the load on their and the horses back had completely disappeared. So now it was time for them to return back to the inn.
According to her previous plans, Weiss was supposed to go and visit the Market of this city next. But now that a new plan about the a meeting had suddenly came up, she needed to make some preprations before that.
For that reason, Weiss did not go out and instead stayed in the room to make those preparations. This meeting was going to be very important, so she needed to think of all the possibilities and make preparations for all kinds of situations.
...
As Mathius came out of the temple, he started to walk quickly and reached a remote part of the city.
This whole time, he had maintained a stern look on his face. But as soon as he was away from everyone's view, he fell on his knees and started to breath heavily.
His mission for the day was just to observe the great temple carefully and to take note of any significant people and to find if the temple had any secret locations or not.
Mathius practiced a knight's secret art that boosted perception and he also had a magical gadget that gave a boost to his perception too. So because of these reasons, his ability to find various things was extremely good.
And that ability of his had not disappointed him today too. Just by walking around the temple, he had managed to find both, troublesome people and secret spots.
But the problem was that, the number of these troublesome people and hidden places were way too much.
After noticing that he was actually surrounded by powerhouses, Mathius had became scared but still somehow, he had managed to get away from them.
While thinking this, he stood up again and started to walk toward a tavern. He had hoping that his mood would improve by talking with a beautiful lady and making some good amount of money.
So, he was looking forward to his meeting in the evening.
